The GOP and MAGA are morally and ethically bankrupt.
This guy makes a lot of sense: "This is not a country of critical thinkers. This is not a country that analyses the evidence."

Authoritarianism is sadly coming. And MAGA loves it. The GOP is a bunch of spineless pricks.

Use some critical thinking skills and stop using/posting links to Xitter.

Anyone worried about posting here? I guess as long as you are using a VPN you are safe, but still I am worried the Nazis will start to police sites like this.

He's right.
But, sadly the people who didn't vote for Trump will suffer as well.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 30, 2024 6:29 PM |
Yeah, no shit. It takes about a day living in this country to arrive at such conclusions.

If only only some street lunatic punched him in the mouth when he was talking about the price of eggs. Then this would be perfect.

Me: "Biden's unpopularity is consistent with presidents who have failed to win reelection. He does not stand a good chance of being reelected."
You: MIGHTY JOE BIDEN!
Me: "Biden is going to be 82 this year. He campaigned as a transitional President, and many people only reluctantly supported him in 2020. He only won in 2020 - and just barely - because the pandemic eliminated the heavy campaigning necessary in typical years, allowing him to run the campaign from his home. He is not fit to be reelected, as his decline has become pronouncedly visible within the past few years. It is necessary for him to step down if we hope to win the election."
You: BORIS! MAGAT!
Me: "Polls are showing that Biden is so unpopular, people are beginning to view Trump with nostalgia, and his favorability is increasing."
You: DARK BRANDON!
Me: "Young people view the administration's complicity in Gaza as unconscionable. This is reminiscent or the protests during Vietnam, which toppled Lyndon Johnson's re-election."
You: MOST LEGISLATIVELY SUCCESSFUL PRESIDENT!
Me: "The Justice Department's failure to pursue punitive action for Trump is merely a reflection of Biden's own agenda."
You: JOE BIDEN MUST FIRE MERRICK GARLAND ON DAY ONE OF HIS NEXT TERM!
Me: "Joe Biden has humiliated himself and the Democratic Party at the debate tonight. He must step down immediately."
You: FOUR LEGS GOOD, TWO LEGS BETTER! WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AT WAR WITH EASTASIA! TRANS IS BEAUTIFUL!

"Policy" has never won a single election.

R5, really....are you okay?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 30, 2024 7:19 PM |
He’s right but I do think if Trump & Friends tank the economy or make some other unpopular mistakes, they will be tossed out. A bad term of Trump 2.0 is solely on the heads of Republicans. And JD Vance is no adorable dancing bumble head like Trump. He only can win if they are successful.

r9 Meh. You want validation too bad. 95% of us thought the same things.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 30, 2024 7:24 PM |
Exactly, OP. This was the entire motive behind Republicans ransacking and defunding Public Education at every level. An ignorant population makes for a terrible electorate.

Well, you don't have any flair, that's for sure!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 30, 2024 8:14 PM |
Yes, the Repubs suck for defunding education. But don’t expect critical thinking in schools run by progressives either. Everyone knows what the program is and you better stick with it, It’s pretty silly to say only the Repubs lack critical thinking skills.

Trying to play the whataboutism game won't work in this situation, R9.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 30, 2024 9:14 PM |
Completely agree with him -- "Useful edits"
I've commented on other threads about this. At least half the country is looking for authoritarian leader -- Messiah, if you will -- who tell them what to do and what to think.

^^^And two or three months in, when they realize they've been had, its too late. Bet they will pay attention the next time if democracy survives Trump, rather than pissing away their votes on an incompetent asshole with a Mussolini complex. The trains don't run on time in Trump's America, they'll face bankruptcy.

We are a simple tribal species. We have so many exploitable vulnerabilities our masters could get us to vote for a spaniel. At this point democracy is a joke.

The franchise was not always universal precisely for the reasons mentioned.

I like how R9 reversed the emotions expressed behind every issue, as though those of us [italic]with[/italic] thinking skills were the unhinged crowd when the reality is that the unhinged crowd has simply grown to be a (very) slight plurality, but one that wins when the usual loony-tunes spoilers enter the fray.
In what rational world does the leading economy that has literally propped up the entire world's recovery from a once-in-a-century pandemic, with rising wages, low unemployment, and robust markets, get labelled as "bad" and somehow, people with no education run around screaming about how they can't afford apples (but please ignore the $500 worth of Halloween dreck on the front lawn) win the day?
In what rational world does creating hundreds of thousands of well-paying jobs that don't require a college education — in the red states, no less — somehow get you fired?
In what rational world does a president who put the first African American woman on the Supreme Court, nominated and seated dozens of Black Federal judges, and hires the first African American Secretary of Defense, and of course the biggie, choosing a Black woman as Vice President, then on dropping out, engineers her succession into the nomination, and yet loses support among the Black community?
In what rational world, facing an existential threat due to climate change, do the young people who will have to deal with a collapsing ecosystem in ways that we cannot imagine, vote against the first president (or his running mate-cum-top of the ticket) who took the biggest concrete and significant steps to reduce carbon emissions, instead voting for the idiot liar who has cemented fossil fuel's grip on our energy production for the foreseeable future, dooming the planet's inhabitants to a living hell?
In what rational world, rife with income inequality, a declining middle class, avenues for advancement dwindling, and an emerging underclass of scared, desperate nationless workers, does a populace decide that hiring billionaires pledging to undo everything that has actually made America the greatest nation on Earth is the way to go?
In what rational world does slightly more than half the population who suffers routine discrimination, threat of assault, predation, and has their fundamental right to control their own bodies taken away, yet cast their vote for a discriminator who boasts of his sexual assault prowess and takes credit for reducing their very humanity?
It's an irrational world full of lazy, uneducated and downright stupid people susceptible to bread and circus. And ultimately, we should have expected it. And the sad part is that our suffering has only just begun.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 1, 2024 5:18 PM |
Well said, R23. I've just about given up on trying to make it make sense. Rationality has gone out the window and even though we (the sane) knew what would happen and tried to stop it, irrationality triumphed. Truly disgusting is all I can say.
