A 76 year old man came into the ER and we had to do surgery on him to remove a potato and shrimp cocktail bottle from his rectum that was placed there by his "consort ".

Use a dildo next time.

One of the best parts of the job is when you have a very ill, very angry patient who spews all sorts of abuse at you then apologizes and thanks you after the worst is over. Almost all of them always do. The druggies, however, never do and they are the ban of our existence.

In psych, one of the worst situations is a young adult going through their first obvious schizophrenic break and trying to help them and their parents understand what is going on and accept the implications of it.

Well, OP, are you being sufficiently entertained?

All due respect to nurses, but I think the CNAs are the unsung heroes of health care.

I had a patient with dementia who had been a prostitute all her life. She sang filthy versions of any old song you could name, and God help you if she had you in her sights. Example: To a young doctor examining her when she was having breathing problems.

“That’s an awfully big nose you’ve got dear. Tell me, is your cock as big?” He fled, red-faced and mortified, while she screamed with laughter.

R9, the ones who actually work and don't have a fucking attitude, yes. I totally agree with you. Nurses take care of them because we know how valuable they are for the recovery of patients and they are just a pleasure to work with. We are so grateful for what they do. It is the same situation with the nursing staff. You know how well the patients will do and how good the shift will be based on the staffing.

You're an idiot, R8.

by Anonymousreply 12November 30, 2024 10:55 PM

OP, don't open a genie bottle you can't deal with.

by Anonymousreply 13December 1, 2024 3:53 AM

i’d agree, nurses do not get the appreciation they deserve for the work they do, and the studies and dedication it takes to get there. Not taking anything away from doctors, but appreciation is not a zero-sum game.
