Let’s be honest - we were told that we have to love Kamala because she checks all the boxes.

Would she have been better than Trump? Of course, but that’s a low bar. She’s intelligent and well-educated, but she has no charisma. When she ran in the 2020 primaries she fell flat on her face. Biden admitted that he only picked her because she’s a black woman (which was a shitty thing to say and unfair to her). She was thrown into the 2024 election at the last minute and did the best she could under the circumstances.

Here’s the truth: if she had won she would have been wildly unpopular and been voted out after her first term.

by Anonymousreply 96December 1, 2024 8:58 AM

It’s not complicated.

by Anonymousreply 1November 30, 2024 6:12 AM

She would have been sensational!

by Anonymousreply 2November 30, 2024 6:14 AM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 3November 30, 2024 6:20 AM
She’s intelligent and well-educated, but she has no charisma.

Because that’s so important in governing a country, which is no different from hosting a game show.

by Anonymousreply 4November 30, 2024 6:35 AM

Stop, she would have been great. It's the huge right wing lying machine that dupes idiots with lies which did her in. That and probably yet undiscovered rigging by billionaires and crooks.

by Anonymousreply 5November 30, 2024 6:43 AM
Here’s the truth: if she had won she would have been wildly unpopular and been voted out after her first term.

I don't agree with you but that thought doesn't bother me in the least, because Dump would be too old to run (or dead) in four years and be viewed as a two-time loser. No way could he lead the ticket again. That alone would be worth four years of Kamala. Another reason, someone on the Supreme Court might depart during the next four years, and we could feel safer on that front as well.

by Anonymousreply 6November 30, 2024 8:40 AM

Yeah. She’s definitely not as charismatic as Kerry, McCain, Hillary Clinton, and the two Bushes. As I recall, no one attended her rallies.

It’s true she was a token VP and was not qualified like Pence, Palin, and Kane. She was just a black lady. And , you are obviously correct that anyone who has a dismal primary showing should never be nominated. That’s why it was important to nominate Biden and Trump, who had no history of humiliating presidential primaries.

You are an extremely bright and original thinker. Your mother must be very proud of you! Post as often as you can!

by Anonymousreply 7November 30, 2024 8:58 AM

R7 You laid that all the way down. Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 8November 30, 2024 9:17 AM

The Dems are just not that popular. A minority party. Start with that first. Then go on to find other reasons the GOP kicked Dem ass and swept all three the House the Senate the WH, rather than be crushed in all 3 as predicted often if it daily on DL

If we remain delusional it’s not going to help. We just thought we were the popular good looking couple at the HS prom when in fact the kids were laughing at us and voting for a different couple.

by Anonymousreply 9November 30, 2024 11:34 AM

No one told us to love her, she stepped up the the plate and proved she was worth voting for. Actually I found her very charming, intelligent, down to earth and charismatic, especially compared to Hillary or Dump or Bush.

by Anonymousreply 10November 30, 2024 11:49 AM

Now lets be real honest, OP is a TROLL repeating Russian/MAGA talking points. I am surprised you didn't start with "I am a life long Democrat but...."

by Anonymousreply 11November 30, 2024 11:49 AM

I predict it won't take all that long after the fat putrid shitstain takes office that many of his voters will be lamenting that they didn't vote for Harris. I hope their pain is extreme.

by Anonymousreply 12November 30, 2024 11:54 AM

Do you think this is a provocative opinion or something, OP?

You're kind of a dork. The election was a month ago.

by Anonymousreply 13November 30, 2024 11:55 AM

OP is correct that Harris would most likely be a one-termer and unpopular. This is because she would not have a Congress to pass her legislation and she would not have enough experience working with legislature like Biden had to be effective.

People liked the idea of her more than they liked her. It’s important to note how little appeal she had during her Vice Presidency. Much of the enthusiasm for her was simply the relief that we no longer had Biden on the ticket, instead someone who looked modern and cosmopolitan. But she had not yet proven to be a talented politician.

by Anonymousreply 14November 30, 2024 12:33 PM

You’ve identified THE problem, OP.

Americans are too wrapped up in the one thing they should push aside when evaluating a presidential candidate:

“Charisma”.

Charisma’s nice, but absolutely NOT necessary when running a country.

by Anonymousreply 15November 30, 2024 12:47 PM

Remember when anyone said Harris might lose, they were called Boris or a troll! R11 hasn’t.

by Anonymousreply 16November 30, 2024 12:49 PM

Your title is correct, OP, but many of us saw the charade for what it was. The public was told a lot of lies, not just about her, for years. As a German woman said to me once, "Everyone knows the truth, the question is if they want to see it or not."

by Anonymousreply 17November 30, 2024 1:31 PM

[wuote] The Dems are just not that popular. A minority party. Start with that first.

They won the popular vote in seven of the last nine presidential elections

by Anonymousreply 18November 30, 2024 1:34 PM

A party that thinks the only reason Harris lost is because people lied about her for years is a party looking to compete with the Greens in the future to see who gets 3rd place.

by Anonymousreply 19November 30, 2024 1:38 PM

OP is an idiot who argues about "charisma" and tries to aim her shit-barf in our direction.

by Anonymousreply 20November 30, 2024 1:56 PM

Apart from the fact that they got fewer votes, there is no serious critique of Harris or Democrats that doesn’t apply more to Trump and Republicans. Let’s face it - we tried to win the argument. They circled the wagons.

by Anonymousreply 21November 30, 2024 2:13 PM

We [italic]are[/italic] big. It’s the electorate that got small!

by Anonymousreply 22November 30, 2024 2:24 PM

“Apart from the fact they got more votes”

There is no real apart other than the GOP swept to a major victory.

by Anonymousreply 23November 30, 2024 2:25 PM

Most people are looking for competence, skill at selecting personnel and advisors, and good policies. Charisma is superficial. Biden is not charismatic and he got a lot done. You’re just projecting your own prejudices, OP.

by Anonymousreply 24November 30, 2024 2:54 PM

OP is the reason we lost and hate and lies won

by Anonymousreply 25November 30, 2024 2:58 PM
There is no real apart other than the GOP swept to a major victory.

1.6% is one of the narrowest wins in history. Republicans lost ground in the House. Democrats won 4 Senate seats in states Trump narrowly carried.

That is not, in any sense, a “sweep” or a “major victory.”

by Anonymousreply 26November 30, 2024 3:00 PM
Biden admitted that he only picked her because she’s a black woman (which was a shitty thing to say and unfair to her)

Link?

by Anonymousreply 27November 30, 2024 3:03 PM

The Republicans won simply by appealing to Americans' innate stupidity and puerile behavior.

How else do you explain the eventual winner attempting to fellate a microphone in the closing days of the campaign.

by Anonymousreply 28November 30, 2024 3:04 PM

JHC we (DL) thought we were going to sweep all 3 the WH the Senate the House. Instead it goes 300 % in the opposite direction. We were being told by the Harris campaign senior advisor that days before the election that we would possibly win all the battle ground states. We win exactly 0.

And we lost to a driven angry party that hates the left or Dems with a passion and sees them as the enemy within not the loyal opposition.

People can put as happy a face on that as they want. I say the GOP kicked our asses.

by Anonymousreply 29November 30, 2024 3:07 PM

I love her and she would have been a fantastic POTUS. Walz s fantastic too. Sadly white supremacist, incel meme "culture" is America now. The country is doomed.

by Anonymousreply 30November 30, 2024 3:10 PM

R24 It is also subjective.

It is important to note that the GOP never had a kumbuyah moment after their crushing defeats to Obama. They just doubled down on obstruction and in many ways racism. I said what I said.

by Anonymousreply 31November 30, 2024 3:12 PM

R29 You are not wrong. I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 32November 30, 2024 3:14 PM

How long has old Donald been around and people have seen his stupidity and criminality? He must be about ready to fall :-)

The data shows that trump was more popular in 2020 than in 2016 and in 2024 he got even more popular than in 2020..

Of course idiots on DL gave time outs for saying this before the election but the data showed what it showed,

by Anonymousreply 33November 30, 2024 3:18 PM

I think she ran a great campaign but her tenure as VP wasn’t very impressive and the rumored staff turnover and mismanagement gives me a lot of pause. Obviously she’d be better than Trump but that’s not the same as being good in her own right. I kind of agree she likely wouldn’t have lasted more than one term. Neither would Hillary due to Republican opposition and right wing media.

by Anonymousreply 34November 30, 2024 3:21 PM

OP, you're a retard.

by Anonymousreply 35November 30, 2024 3:24 PM
Her tenure as VP wasn’t very impressive.

What Vice President has an impressive tenure? Please provide your list of the all-time greats.

Biden, in his massive wisdom, assigned to her the issue on which he was most vulnerable without her having any power to do anything about it.

by Anonymousreply 36November 30, 2024 3:32 PM

Corporatist media completely underestimated Trump’s popularity. That’s all we truly need to take from this. No one from this administration would have beat him.

by Anonymousreply 37November 30, 2024 3:51 PM

Sadly white supremacist, incel meme "culture" is America now.

Another this is why Trump won idiot's remark. The arrogance and condescension of the Democratic party is beyond compare. Totally lacking in compassion except of the most virtue signaling kind. If I had told any of my friends I voted for Trump I would have lost them. I told family members I voted for Harris and there was no problem whatsoever. Of course there are the DL Sonnyettes who feel you must cut Trumpers totally out of your life even if they are beloved family members. As much as I loathe Trump and would never vote for him to have that attitude only exhibits severe Democratic brain damage.

These people had four years of Trump already. He is a known commodity and they liked the life they had under him. Harris is also a known commodity so all this bullshit about her not having enough time is garbage. Biden has made it known she was in on everything from day one. A majority of voters did not like the life they had under him. And the inflation under him was very very bad with the border crossings a horror show which will eventually cost the American taxpayer many 100s of millions of dollars when we can't even give our veterans free comprehensive healthcare and sanctuary cities are crying uncle. I don't care what statistics are now saying. This administration took too long.

I personally found Harris an attractive compelling individual with charisma to spare if that kind of thing is important. But as a presidential nominee with her past of the last four years and what happened to the city of San Francisco under her as prosecutor which was bemoaned on DL which of course DL has completely forgotten about now is nothing to be proud of. She was a DEI choice by Biden which he made very clear in advance so you can deny it all you want but you would be deluding yourself. And it is universally acknowledged she would have never been voted in as the nominee in a primary. The Democratic party really fucked up which it will continue to do with all of its demonization of the right(yes it happens the other way too but the dems have really knotched it up.) Maybe when all the very rich Dems with many elaborate homes and acreage start putting up all these refugees and the American homeless in their homes and on their properties can a Dem like Harris who used her (paid)support by celebrities to help sell her to the American people can the people start taking the Democratic party seriously again. And oh boy did the new border czar totally nuke AOC a major face of the Dem party. Clearly she is only fit to be a supermarket bagger if they still had them. Maybe she is not as important as she tries to be but every time she opens her mouth all you can do is sing Send in the Clowns. We can't even touch on Newsom another horror show.

by Anonymousreply 38November 30, 2024 4:11 PM

A long, long way to go for a lot of nothing, R38.

by Anonymousreply 39November 30, 2024 4:14 PM

Maybe when all the very rich Dems with many elaborate homes and acreage start putting up all these refugees and the American homeless in their homes and on their properties can a Dem like Harris who used her (paid)support by celebrities to help sell her to the American people can the people start taking the Democratic party seriously again.

What lie was told?

by Anonymousreply 40November 30, 2024 4:18 PM

"What lie was told?"

That your mother loved you, when all the time she was wishing she had aborted you.

by Anonymousreply 41November 30, 2024 4:29 PM

R41 Got it. So you have no intellectual argument. Happy holidays.

by Anonymousreply 42November 30, 2024 4:30 PM

R39 Thank you for helping elect Trump. Every single person who voted for him was a deplorable and garbage. Thank you again.

by Anonymousreply 43November 30, 2024 4:32 PM
Sadly white supremacist, incel meme "culture" is America now.

Bullshit. Their narrowly winning one election doesn’t mean the rest of us just cease to exist. And they are a minority within the Trump vote.

by Anonymousreply 44November 30, 2024 4:34 PM

One of the few things republicans are good at is rabble rousing. And face it, the USA has a lot of rabble just looking to be roused. There's nothing people like that love more than having something or someone to hate. The republican party hands it to them on a silver platter.

by Anonymousreply 45November 30, 2024 4:38 PM

R38. Let us itemize your various stupidities.

1. Vice-presidents have no official power other than breaking ties in the Senate, and none in the history of the country has had any unofficial power besides Dick Cheney. It should have been expected that she would do nothing as Vice-President. It was Biden's idiocy to assign to her one of his most vulnerable issues even thought she could do nothing about it.

2. Presidents have essentially no influence over inflation. Stating that Americans voted for a corrupt, authoritarian moron because they were upset about inflation confirms rather than rebuts the thesis that they are idiots.

3. She's not a DEI candidate because she had extensive qualifications. We've elected Trump, Reagan, and the two Bushes, all of whom were much stupider and no more experienced than she was. Almost every vice-president in recent history was chosen for some reason apart from pure qualifications. Pence was chosen to appeal to evangelicals, Johnson because he was from Texas, Palin because she was a woman, and Walz because he was from a swing state. Why is it only an issue to you when a qualified person is chosen in part because she is a woman and black. What distasteful part of your brain makes you comment on this near-universal practice only when it applies to a black person and a woman? Is it because you assume a black woman, unlike a Minnesotan or a Texan, could not be qualified?

4. There is virtually no publicly expressed condescension on the part of any major Democratic candidate towards any section of the American public. On the other hand, there is non-stop condescension on the part of the Republican party towards enormous numbers of people. It is the cornerstone of their campaign strategy. What, apart from stupidity, caused you to invert reality in such a bizarre way? Yes, there is a lot of condescension from Democratic voters towards Trump voters, but no more, and probably less, than there is among Republican voters towards their opponents. What are you proposing? That Democratic voters, unlike Republican voters, are never to comment against ideas that are stupid and despicable for fear that people will vote Republican in retaliation? How, for example would you propose we respond to idiocy like yours? Compliment you and tell you how brilliant you are?

by Anonymousreply 46November 30, 2024 4:41 PM

Stop attacking Kamala. Wait for the next cycle.

Funny, but the continued interest in fucking her over only points to what a threat MAGA thinks she really is.

She was magnificent in the Billion Dollar Grass Roots 100 Day Campaign.

She remains a MAGA threat.

If she campaigns for midterm candidates and swings Congress, there is no way she will not run.

by Anonymousreply 47November 30, 2024 4:43 PM

Plus as long as the focus is her running against Democrats as opposed to her running against Trump, she is weakened.

She should be tearing Trump a new hole over every bad decision already made, his Pandemic Record and first Administration, and his current set of fuck-ups. She needs to continue to be the face of the opposition. And every attack she makes should be a thoroughly sample tested and marketed as Trump's THEY'RE EATING THE DOGS!

by Anonymousreply 48November 30, 2024 5:01 PM

I hope she gives the rebuttal to the State of the Union.

Oh, and isn't it odd that Trump had to run against Biden and not dredge up and crap on Harris because she has already been vetted so many times for public office?

No Non-Disclosure crimes in HER closet, Donnie.

by Anonymousreply 49November 30, 2024 5:13 PM
Charisma’s nice, but absolutely NOT necessary when running a country.

Perhaps, but it's certainly helpful when you're trying to get elected.

This is galling. I have liberal friends who support public highways but get upset when strangers drive on their property.

You are uncommonly brilliant!

by Anonymousreply 55November 30, 2024 6:28 PM

r55, r40 is a person who does not know the difference between Marxism, Communism, Socialism and Democratic Socialists.

But they sure know Capitalism.

by Anonymousreply 56November 30, 2024 6:41 PM

I dont necessarily agree with everything r38 said but he made some excellent points. I am sorry I had to cut Trump supporters out of my life. This man is insane. And if anybody cannot see that they must be a lil fucked up in the head too.

by Anonymousreply 57November 30, 2024 6:45 PM

Do Trump supporters shun friends and family members who voted for Harris?

by Anonymousreply 58November 30, 2024 6:49 PM

I’m just saying most of A list Hollywood live in sprawling compounds. Not just mansions but compounds. I’m talking the Queen Beys, Brad Pitts, Clooney, Julia Roberts. The gesture would go a long way. They have the means and resources to house the homeless and the money for the security. But then if did such a thing a whole more people would become hopeless if you know what I mean.

by Anonymousreply 59November 30, 2024 6:50 PM
The Democratic party really fucked up which it will continue to do with all of its demonization of the right(yes it happens the other way too but the dems have really knotched it up.)

r63, does it need to put the lotion in the basket?

by Anonymousreply 64November 30, 2024 9:47 PM

Oh for F's sake, if MILLIONS of people vote for a guy who says "THEY ARE EATING THE DOGS, EATING THE CATS IN SPRINGFIELD" Then there is no point mentally masturbating about how the Dems should have moved more to the center or more to the left. All of that is irrelevant.

"THEY ARE EATING THE DOGS, EATING THE CATS IN SPRINGFIELD" was music to the ears of Republicans. Yes, the majority, at the end of the day, that's why he won. Both the popular vote and the electoral vote. Stop making excuses for them. They do not have an ideology of left or right, it's all about catch phrased and TikTok influencers.

by Anonymousreply 65November 30, 2024 11:53 PM

And Biden was less crazy than Trump? The guy was in serious cognitive decline throughout his presidency and the Democratic party was gaslighting the entire country or attempting to. The thing is all the deplorables and garbage saw right through it while the Dems were claiming everything was fine. The Dems had their fingers in their ears and their eyes closed saying out loud Lalalala until the debate. Then Pelosi who has the skills and heart of a scorned Italian butcheress on a rampage did her nastiest when she could no longer hide what was going on.

And when Trump won Biden was the happiest old man you ever saw.

by Anonymousreply 66December 1, 2024 1:21 AM

R29, that, AND the rally where he waved his hands in the air, waved them like he just didn’t care!

He pulled that stunt for 30 minutes, perhaps more, with music playing in the background.

He KNEW he was winning this election when those stunts began, including the part when he told his rally attendees that they didn’t need to vote for him on Election Day.

I’m not alleging that the election was stolen. It might have been, but I’m going with the narrative that half of Americans are toxic, maligning, conspiracy theorists who are fundamentally racist, xenophobic, bigoted & misogynistic.

by Anonymousreply 72December 1, 2024 1:48 AM

Apologies.

by Anonymousreply 73December 1, 2024 1:50 AM

r72 He knew he would win because no one watches legacy media. The only people who do, older Americans, already had their minds made up. They know they can manipulate any information they want on social media.

by Anonymousreply 74December 1, 2024 1:56 AM

R59, may I ask, respectfully, why the fuck you think celebrities should house the homeless???

Why is this THEIR job?

Why don’t YOU house the homeless, & be the example, while practicing what you preach: It’s the responsibility of private citizens to house the homeless, instead of the job of government from state to the federal?

by Anonymousreply 75December 1, 2024 1:56 AM

This, I agree with, R74.

by Anonymousreply 76December 1, 2024 1:58 AM

r75 I didn't say it was their job. But when you have 40 million dollar compound, a gesture could do something. You have the resources and the means. I actually would if I had fuck you money.

by Anonymousreply 77December 1, 2024 1:59 AM

And yet. Thiel, Trump, and Musk all have far more money than Clooney or whatever liberal elite you choose to disparage. They could help the “forgotten man” and yet they don’t. They don’t even want to pay their fair share of taxes to help out. But you attack Clooney and Beyonce and Pelosi. How curious.

by Anonymousreply 78December 1, 2024 2:04 AM

R77, during the pandemic, Brad Pitt, Mike Balzary, & the rest of the RHCP either distributed food and/or donated their money in order to feed people who are poor & were at high risk of not being able to feed their families, because the these people in specific neighborhoods could not go to work.

Plenty of celebrities do really good charity work on their time off.

by Anonymousreply 79December 1, 2024 2:06 AM

We weren't "told" to do anything.

After Biden left the race - irrespective of how or why or whether it was necessary or not - she became the Democratic candidate for president.

There was insufficient time or frankly mental bandwidth to identify another candidate. No other candidate would have done as well as she, given the constraints.

We rallied behind Harris because she was the best choice to prevent another cheeto presidency. The fact she was unable to defeat him is mostly irrelevant to whether she was the best choice since no one else would likely have beaten him either based on post-election analysis.

by Anonymousreply 80December 1, 2024 2:07 AM

I find it interesting that with all the evil background checking and shit smearing that Trump does with automatic ease, that his lack of this on Harris was the greatest endorsement her could have given her.

She is truly Eliot Ness to his Capone.

by Anonymousreply 81December 1, 2024 2:18 AM

Somehow that makes it seem even worse. People couldn’t be bothered to go full force against evil reigning?

by Anonymousreply 82December 1, 2024 2:43 AM

It's their responsibility because they're the ones going on about the rights of the refugees and America has to take them in. So YOU fucking take them in with your huge houses and land and money. You can do all of this and let the American taxpayer take care of American indigents, the homeless, the ill, and veterans.

Are you really that stupid? If they don't want to fine. But then they should shut their fucking mouths about supporting illegal immigration.

by Anonymousreply 83December 1, 2024 2:47 AM

R83 is like a broken record.

by Anonymousreply 84December 1, 2024 2:54 AM

R67 I agree but that's still no excuse for the way the Democratic Party behaved while acting so fucking virtuous. And if anyway immigrants don't eat dogs and cats like Trump said Biden likes to chew on toddlers' legs. Literally.

But yes he was still better than Trump and he ultimately got as much as he could get-Kamala's defeat.

by Anonymousreply 85December 1, 2024 2:56 AM

R78 I fucking love Clooney and all of them Hollywood cunts that on our side. Listen I’m mad liberal. Thiel and ilk aren’t pro working people, or care anything about homeless flooding our downtown streets.

by Anonymousreply 86December 1, 2024 3:12 AM

R79 very true. Listen I don’t always think deeply when I post. It’s perhaps unrealistic to think someone worth a half a billion dollars with a sprawling compound can cure homelessness. I guess what I’m getting at is actually a critique of capitalism. But there really is no other way. My grandparents are from Cuba. Trust me, there isn’t.

by Anonymousreply 87December 1, 2024 3:13 AM

R83, so American celebrities aren’t American taxpayers, too?

They pay taxes too, R83, especially when holding a moderate to an expansive real estate portfolio, even while living outside of the United States.

And every single time they film a movie, or produce one? They pay American taxes regardless of where they live, which by the way, also requires that they pay taxes wherever they live outside of the United States.

Celebrities are NOT the problem- Trump & his cult are the problem.

Why?

Because they’ve succeeded in brainwashing half of Americans to believe that celebrities are their mortal enemies.

Absolutely ridiculous, & a VERY stupid supposition.

And when did a celebrity support illegal immigration, or when did any democrat, for that matter?

Personally? I feel that migrants who are entering this country should be thoroughly vetted, & start paying taxes as soon as they begin working, which is what legal migrants do, already.
think the great VPs like Biden and LBJ are the exception, not the rule. Kennedy and Obama needed their VPs to make sure legislation got passed.

Johnson was a complete non-entity as vice-president. That’s why he hated the job. I also know of no evidence that what you say about Biden is true. Since you are grossly incorrect about Johnson, I assume you are about Biden as well.
