The women fare worse, OP. It's not like the husbands are doing anything around the house or taking care of the kids.

I think it makes men fat.

I wish I could do that but I doubt myself. They might get more materially than I did as a kid, but I wouldn’t want to raise them where I live in Flyoverstan.

Most of these guys would be happier and healthier if they had hunt for food every day. Just go out, kill a warthog, drag it home for the little lady to cook—job done. It has to be more fulfilling than being stuck in conferences talking about “realistic project objectives.”

It's the strain of a wife and kids and the huge responsibility. Also they are not on a perpetual hunt for hole.

I think it's just effort and I agree with r4. The man almost always looks worse than the woman when I see a straight couple 35+. It doesn't matter if kids are involved.
