Jeez.

Can't they afford to pay these performers better??

They need to earn a living wage!

Goddamn, he is so sexy.

Is Anthony gay or straight?

by Anonymousreply 1November 29, 2024 11:31 PM

Anthony should hire an accountant and a personal investor before a manager and an agent.

by Anonymousreply 2November 29, 2024 11:43 PM

R1, he’s straight — but I agree, I’ve had a crush on him for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 3November 29, 2024 11:45 PM

He revealed what Off-Broadway actors really make.

by Anonymousreply 4November 29, 2024 11:51 PM

She ain't str8, not with those "Gay as Fuck" lapel brooches!!

by Anonymousreply 5November 29, 2024 11:56 PM

Anthony and Brandon Perea are kind of like a Dylan McDermott Mulroney Bill Paxton Pullman situation for me.

by Anonymousreply 6November 30, 2024 12:17 AM

He makes my skin crawl.

by Anonymousreply 7November 30, 2024 12:37 AM

Is this the guy from the Seagram's Crown Royal TV ads from a couple of years back, who goes to his mother's house so they can get shitfaced together?

by Anonymousreply 8November 30, 2024 12:43 AM

R8, he probably made more from that commercial than he did onstage.

by Anonymousreply 9November 30, 2024 12:46 AM

Yes, R8.

In 2014, Ramos met actress Jasmine Cephas Jones during rehearsals for the off-Broadway production of Hamilton. Ramos confirmed their relationship in February 2015, and on Christmas Eve 2018, Anthony proposed to Jasmine in front of her favorite castle in Arundel. In November 2021, they ended their engagement before officially splitting. They remained private about the details of their breakup.

In 2023, Ramos began dating Spanish singer-songwriter Eva Ruiz.

Despite him saying it's $1800, the current Equity minimum for Broadway is $2,638 per week.

by Anonymousreply 12November 30, 2024 1:08 AM

He’s so sexy in In the Hights.

by Anonymousreply 13November 30, 2024 1:09 AM

Is $2638 a livable weekly salary in NYC?

by Anonymousreply 14November 30, 2024 1:13 AM

Hes so fucking smarmy, like Andy fucking Samburg level smarmy.

by Anonymousreply 15November 30, 2024 1:19 AM

It is above average mathematically speaking R14, so yes.

I'm sure it is still one bedroom/studio leaving for the most part, but it is certainly enough to live on.

I wonder about vacation/PTO or times when the play doesn't show for whatever reason though.

I bet he made more than Man 6.

by Anonymousreply 17November 30, 2024 1:32 AM

Actors also have to plan for unemployment. It's one thing to say that you're being paid $2800/week - but your show may close unexpectedly, and it might be 6 months or a year before you're cast in another show. It was not unusual during my time in NY to see someone I'd seen in a show waiting tables 6 months after I had seen them on stage. Although very few people have absolute job security, still, most jobs are much longer-lived and stable than acting jobs. The lives of professional dancers are likewise precarious. But most professional dancers are members of dance companies. Dance companies always operate at a loss, but they work hard to try to guarantee their dancers 26 weeks of employment a year, which at least qualifies them for unemployment benefits when their companies are on hiatus.

One of the several reasons that acting and dancing are professions with an overrepresentation of gay men is that straight men can't support wives and families with such precarious employment situations.

by Anonymousreply 18November 30, 2024 2:33 AM

One thing NY actors rely on is working in the Law & Order universe.

by Anonymousreply 19November 30, 2024 2:43 AM

And whoring

by Anonymousreply 20November 30, 2024 3:20 AM

Boyd Gaines waited tables in Fame.

by Anonymousreply 21November 30, 2024 10:22 AM

He was sexy as Gaga’s gay whore friend in A Star Is Born but otherwise not so much.

He should never have stood next to try hard sexy guy Glenn Whatshisname in Twisters, both of whom were inexplicably attracted to that girl from the swamp lands.

by Anonymousreply 22November 30, 2024 10:25 AM

Glenn Powell, R22.

Glenn is like a foot taller than Anthony.

But looks wise, I think Anthony holds his own.

I didn't realize that Anthony is so short.

by Anonymousreply 24November 30, 2024 10:32 AM

I think he is very, very sexy. I also think he looks 100 times better with short hair.

by Anonymousreply 25November 30, 2024 10:51 AM

Wahhh...I get paid to do what I love but it's not enough...Wahhh

FOH

by Anonymousreply 26November 30, 2024 10:55 AM

R26, did you watch the clip?

by Anonymousreply 27November 30, 2024 11:15 AM

It's a hard knock life

by Anonymousreply 28November 30, 2024 1:22 PM

Those salaries are not adjusted at all based on the success of the show? Actors in, for example, 'Hamilton' don't share in the pot in any way?

by Anonymousreply 29November 30, 2024 1:27 PM

No. All for me.

by Anonymousreply 30November 30, 2024 2:41 PM

r29 The originating cast get a share of 1% of the net profits as royalties (this started with A Chorus Line, given the show was based on the cast's own experiences and stories). And frankly, the Hamilton cast don't really deserve that.

Most musicals have workshops, which are covered by Equity. These have very low pay, but come with the royalty agreement. Hamilton had a "developmental lab". This had a higher salary, but not royalties. Equity warned the Hamilton cast not to agree to do a lab and demand on the workshop contract, which they ignored and signed onto the lab terms.

Then, once Hamilton was a major hit and they realised they'd screwed themselves out of a share of the royalties they started whining and bitching that Equity wasn't protecting them - yes, despite the fact that they ignored Equity's advice. They eventually caused enough PR fuss that the producers gave in and gave them a share.

by Anonymousreply 31November 30, 2024 6:21 PM

I wouldn't watch that steaming pile of shit Hamilton even at gunpoint. I remember watching the Tony Awards the night it was nominated and I remember how NEEDY Manual Miranda looked the entire night.

by Anonymousreply 32November 30, 2024 6:28 PM

R31

Thank you,

by Anonymousreply 33November 30, 2024 8:39 PM

R31, thanks! Real information here on dataLounge, who'd have thought it?

And R24, I didn't realize Anthony had such bad taste in clothes! Christ he looks like a thrift-store Johnny.

by Anonymousreply 34November 30, 2024 9:22 PM

That is one unattractive rodent faced guy.

by Anonymousreply 35November 30, 2024 9:31 PM

He is cool. Why does the narrative so like she is falling asleep. WTF.

by Anonymousreply 36November 30, 2024 9:39 PM

I always found him to be a gorgeous young man. I met him once, I am 5' 10" and he was just a smidge shorter than me, so perhaps 5'9".

He's making excellent solo music . This video is a live performance of a track from his album Love and Lies.

I first discovered him in a Star is Born. His acting was so strong I just knew he had to be a "Yass queen" in real life lol. Boy was I wrong.

by Anonymousreply 38November 30, 2024 11:34 PM

He's hot but he's annoyed the fuck out of me in everything I've seen him in. I had to skip all of his In Treatment episodes because he overacted so hard. He was bad in Twisters before I walked out.

by Anonymousreply 39December 1, 2024 12:08 AM

To be fair, he didn’t have much of a character to play in Twisters.

by Anonymousreply 40December 1, 2024 2:27 PM

R31, do you know, did Bennett offer that voluntarily to the dancers? Or did they have to fight for it once it was a big success? I think they had to lobby him for it. Though Nicholas Dante, co-credited with writing the book, was the real life Paul. He must’ve negotiated credit from the start to end to once they wanted to use his story.

by Anonymousreply 41December 1, 2024 2:32 PM

Even with a turkey that you know will fold?

by Anonymousreply 42December 1, 2024 2:36 PM

r41 It was after the fact, so I suspect you're right that the cast lobbied, and Bennett must've realised the publicity would be really bad for him when it turned out he was getting rich after getting the dancers to sell their life stories for a literal buck.

by Anonymousreply 43December 1, 2024 3:50 PM

R8 you remember that, but you don't know that M*A*S*H is off the air.

by Anonymousreply 44December 1, 2024 3:58 PM

R43, it was probably an after thought but I do think he loved the dancers though. Bennett gave back a lot, to the Public, and creating those rehearsal studios in the theatre district, etc.

I hope Jennifer Holliday got something for creating Effie White!

by Anonymousreply 45December 1, 2024 5:30 PM

Yeah he's not the main reason I gave up on the movie, r40. I just thought he was shit. Disappointing because I do think he's very attractive.
