Elfin Canadian Magician Doug Henning: Who Had Him?

OP, I don't know what this guy's sexuality was, but I can't imagine anyone-- man, woman, whatever-- being eager to admit that they "had him". And the fact that he "sold everything and moved to India" just makes me wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

He died of liver cancer in 2000. His magic act brought a lot of happiness to a lot of folks.

Henning died at 52 of liver cancer, which he had tried to cure through transcendental meditation. Instead, he died five months after diagnosis. Doesn’t liver cancer indicate alcoholism?

In that Destiny’s Child “Behind the Music” episode, they said they would watch his old specials as motivation / not sure for what, exactly.

R4 My grandmother died as a result of liver cancer. She never had an alcoholic drink in her life. Go figure.

About 30 years ago, I saw him at my university during the federal election campaign.
This new party was formed around TM. They had tons of money and ran a very expensive campaign.
Anyways, I went to see so-called yogic flying. But it was really guys jumping cross legged on a mat.
He seemed nice though.

Remember when he got fat and started hitting watermelons with a sledgehammer?

His "The Magic Show," with music and lyrics by "Wicked's" Stephen Schwartz, ran for almost 2,000 performances on Broadway, and is one of the longest-running shows that's never had a revival (and probably never will.)

I remember them r13. My brother was friends with a kid whose dad was high up in that party. He was a very nice kid but of course everybody laughed at him

There’s a movie version of Thr Magic Show, but they cut two great songs (West End Avenue and Charmin’s Lament). It does have Anita Morris repeating as Charmin, but robbed of her big number.

He always reminded me of Bugs Bunny

I remember seeing him on television and thought he was one of the Hudson Brothers.

I remember he was surrounded by topless assistants. It seemed weird that it was meant for kids.
