[quote]While prices start at just under $40,000 per year, single-occupancy cabins for the full four years start at $256,000, with double-occupancy running up to $320,000 for the trip.
I would buy a cheap house in Italy (nor the €1 wrecks that need extensive work and municipal oversight at every step), a livable one that would benefit from some cosmetic and minor improvements, and have something to show for my four years. And better food and nicer people and a happier four years than on a nasty cruiseship.

But that 256K includes all of your meals and travel for 4 years

Who's going to be able to afford that???

It's a shit boat and a shit company. Plagued by ominous setbacks. This company won't last 4 years, in my opinion.

Who'd want to live on a ship for 4 years? Everybody crammed it together. I don't get why people want to leave their own country just because of an asshole. Running away isn't the answer.

Agreed, R5, that four years aboard a ship seems a nightmare, but why move to another country?
There's no scolding if an Americans moves from his home town to another city, to another state, to another part of the country. But let him leave the U.S. and he's a scaredy-cat, a fucking traitor, risking wild and primitive places untouched by civilization and Home Depot and PF Changs.
You're right, running away is seldom the answer (or putting yourself in a 4 year suspension tank called a cruise ship), but going to someplace you want to (or would rather) live? That's not so bad.

I could afford it easily, but I wouldn't trust a no-name, untested cruise company with my money.

But this is the shitty ship that already sold a 3 year cruise, so they bust be low occupancy and failing so they are now offering other passengers 4 year cruises. What's next? An onboard Circus Academy. Have the ship given over to Christian Missionaries on a global crusade?
