I definitely shed my ‘ugly duck’ looks when I hit my 20s. But, a swan? Not so sure.

I had 5 great years, aged 30-35.

Definitely a very ugly duckling as a teen. I came into after high school and was kind of hot for a while. Alas, we remain a flower for only so long.

Ugly isn’t the word for it, but “unfortunate” fits. I was the skinniest kid in my entire high school class, had thick glasses since age 5, and was obviously gay though never admitted to it that young. I was bullied by the bad kids from ages 11 to 15.
Now at 57 I’m aging better than almost any of them, happily coupled and financially comfortable, and half of the main bullies from 40+ years ago are dead and another is in state prison.

I was an ugly duckling in high school. Unflattering eyeglasses, very very thin, nerdy. But in college I started to come into my own. Gained a tiny bit of weight, started wearing contacts, grew a mustache (it was the era). When I moved to NYC in my early 20s, I didn't feel I was as attractive as the general gay crowd of Manhattan (male models, dancers, broadway theater gays, etc) , and yet I seemed to get my fair share of male attention, and perhaps more. I think I seemed to be generally attractive without being model pretty from 22-50 and aged pretty gracefully. Since then, I've faded into the same general invisibility as other older gay men, but I still have hair and am not overweight, so I like to pretend that I'm not back to ugly ducklinghood, (but I probably am).

Absolutely.

Not really ugly but started to style my hair and grew into a pretty boy around age 14. Always slim until my metabolism slowed and took much booze in my late 20s made me chubby/fat. I also lost interest due to low mood.
Losing weight and a good hair transplant have me looking better than I have in years now I'm mid-30s.

Having a full head of hair and being slim are what I hold on to at this point--and I'm pretty enough
