“I’m not a typical gay guy”

I’ve heard this so often from gays, most often when they’re first coming out of the closet.

They think that all gays must be the same because one type seems to get more publicity.

by Anonymousreply 13November 28, 2024 8:42 PM

It’s a self apology for why they didn’t come out sooner.

by Anonymousreply 1November 28, 2024 5:11 PM

They don’t want to be associated with partying, lisping, leather wearing gays the media shows.

But in time, as they get more comfortable, that’s what they happily become

by Anonymousreply 2November 28, 2024 6:24 PM

It means "I'm so homophobic that I assume typical gay guys get gang-banged by ten guys on a Friday night when I'm satisfied with only three."

by Anonymousreply 3November 28, 2024 6:46 PM

It means they don't want to be classified as fem.

by Anonymousreply 4November 28, 2024 6:48 PM

Same when they say they're not "into the scene."

by Anonymousreply 5November 28, 2024 7:01 PM

I've been comfortable with my gayness for many years but I'm neither SCENEY nor QUEENY.

by Anonymousreply 6November 28, 2024 7:05 PM

Is there even "a scene" anymore?

by Anonymousreply 7November 28, 2024 7:10 PM

Yes. -WeHo

by Anonymousreply 8November 28, 2024 7:11 PM

What, you don't expect the masses to cringe at the All Femme All the Time YAAAAAS QUEEN culture, OP?

by Anonymousreply 9November 28, 2024 7:11 PM

“If you are even in the sunbelt of Billy Porter’s extravaganzaness, I want nothing to do with you.”

by Anonymousreply 10November 28, 2024 7:16 PM

It takes experience to see that there's different kinds of gay people and ways of living. You'd think that would be a little more obvious now than 30 years ago

…as they swing round the corner from the local cottage brushing cum out of their lowlights…

by Anonymousreply 12November 28, 2024 8:38 PM

Honestly I sort of felt the same when I first came out. I’m sure there’s some homophobia ingrained in us from society
