Who will take over when Macy's finally goes under? Walmart? Target? Dollar General?

It is pouring rain on Al Roker! Hoda and Savannah have umbrellas. That doesn't seem fair.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 28, 2024 1:52 PM |
I agree, r1. NONE of 'em should have umbrellas.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 28, 2024 1:53 PM |
There's a musical called Hells Kitchen? Is it about whores?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 28, 2024 1:54 PM |
Are the Broadway musicals live or pre-taped?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 28, 2024 1:57 PM |
What a terrible start - Madam Billy Porter.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 28, 2024 1:58 PM |
Let’s see….
The Dollar General Thanksgiving Day Parade doesn’t sound very festive to me.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 28, 2024 1:58 PM |
I really liked the number from Death Becomes Her.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 28, 2024 2:08 PM |
Broadway's #1 commercial, since no one watches the Tonys, except teen girls and gay men.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 28, 2024 2:19 PM |
Is there any film that *hasn't* been made into a musical?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 28, 2024 2:20 PM |
R9 Dawson's 50 Load Weekend

Macy's is to be commended for saving the old Wanamaker's Christmas light show in Philly. People still come by the thousands every year to see it.
Unfortunately, the cheap bitches and their crotch fruit leave the store as soon as the show is over and go spend their money at Target, Walmart and Dollar General or wherever they get their third world shithole made merchandise. Then they wonder why they haven't had a raise in two years.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 28, 2024 2:28 PM |
Live on tape.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 28, 2024 2:30 PM |
R11 they’re all just lame Phillywhores
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 28, 2024 2:31 PM |
Holy Cow! I like being exposed to different cultures but this indigenous group sounds like a Yoko Ono song.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 28, 2024 2:41 PM |
Cole Escola looking cute in a kitschy plaid getup, riding atop a flamingo.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 28, 2024 2:43 PM |
Does Macys pay these high school bands? It must cost them a fortune to travel to and stay in New York?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 28, 2024 3:07 PM |
My view of the parade is pleasing this year.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 28, 2024 3:16 PM |
The cameraman not knowing who Lea Salonga was was a particular highlight.

[quote] Who will take over when Macy's finally goes under? Walmart? Target? Dollar General?
Target is upscale compared to Macy's at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 28, 2024 3:22 PM |
Once Macy's is gone, I guarantee Amazon will take over the parade. "Amazon Prime Thanksgiving Day Parade".
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 28, 2024 3:37 PM |
I like it, R6. The floats could be decorated with toilet paper.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 28, 2024 3:45 PM |
Matching bands are not paid to participate, but they are selected two years in advance so they have time to fundraise to cover their costs.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 28, 2024 3:53 PM |
When Amazon takes over the parade, it'll be all holograms then. No need to pay for live human beings. Bozo will get even wealthier. Won't that be fun?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 28, 2024 3:59 PM |
It’s no Rose Parade, that’s for sure.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 28, 2024 4:09 PM |
I'm getting dizzy watching this. There are way too many dancers and every act that performs only gets about 60 seconds then it's on to the next group.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 28, 2024 4:10 PM |
T-Pain has 6 Grammys??? Who the fuck is he?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 28, 2024 4:11 PM |
[quote]There's a musical called Hells Kitchen? Is it about whores?
It's a jukebox musical about Alicia Key's Manhattan upbringing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 28, 2024 4:15 PM |
Wrong, R10, there is a musical version. It is currently in tryouts at Steamworks in Berkeley and Chicago. It slated for the Public Theatre in New York in 2026.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 28, 2024 4:18 PM |
I am worried one of these performers are going to wipe out on a wet surface from the rain

by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 28, 2024 4:22 PM |
How drunk is Jimmy Fallon?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 28, 2024 4:25 PM |
Notice Fallon is wearing dark glasses
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 28, 2024 4:26 PM |
I remember years ago they would have generic baloons not connected to promoting anything - like a generic elf or snowman etc.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 28, 2024 4:31 PM |
When did it become one big product placement? All the floats seem to be advertising something.
And how much free PR is Wicked getting out of this? Cynthia is going to be introducing the Rockettes as well.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 28, 2024 4:33 PM |
Very boring this year. Even the Rockettes were lame.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 28, 2024 4:34 PM |
Props to Jonseboro High marching band to playing the Golden Girls theme song.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 28, 2024 4:35 PM |
It’s sad how it’s no longer a parade but one big long commercial.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 28, 2024 4:35 PM |
Didn't watch it. Guessing it was the usual combo of mutilated Broadway numbers, short clips of the PR floats, MUCH shorter clips of a few marching bands, and LOOOOOONG sections of them babbling about stupid shit?
Sad how far it's fallen.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 28, 2024 4:38 PM |
How come Hoda isn't talking?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 28, 2024 4:38 PM |
All the floats and dancers and costumes seem more or less the same. R37 is right. It's one big long commercial.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 28, 2024 4:40 PM |
Cynthia is even ruining the Macy's Day Parade
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 28, 2024 4:57 PM |
I think this is the last year I'm going to have watched this.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 28, 2024 4:59 PM |
R42, there’s nothing else to do Thanksgiving morning,
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 28, 2024 5:01 PM |
Who is the hot bearded guy singing about Oreos in the Del Monte float?

1924 idiot

Oops, Riverdance girl down in Aisle 4.
Hoda Kotb is just godawful. So fucking phony. Glad the bitch will be leaving NBC.
Ariana and Jonathan should host the Parade next year.

Hey! That’s not fair. I watch—oh, I see your point.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 29, 2024 12:02 AM |
Same teen girls who are pissed off at AMC because they can't 'sing along' at 'Wicked' and can't wear 'green makeup' and taking their fight to Twitter. How dare AMC do this...
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 29, 2024 12:06 AM |
I liked the guy “driving” Santa’s sleigh. He has such a gigantic smile you could see from a mile away, plus he was cute.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 29, 2024 1:37 AM |
To R9 and R28. Kevin McCollum is holding secret gambling and poker games on the upper floors of Sardis to raise money for it. After he skims off the top of the winnings of course. Those of you in the industry will will get this, unless of course you've been invited to participate. I heard they gave out poppers and lube at the door after you submitted a personal financial statement.

They make a quick exit from the Philly Macy's because the place is a dump.

Liza Colon-Zayas is a wonderful actress but did she really need to be identified as the actress onscreen and not just BEEN Mrs. Claus? I guess with Billy Porter doing the opening performing a decades-old song from The Wiz and then with Colon-Zayas as Mrs. Claus at its conclusion (“She’s from the South Bronx!”) this was one way NBC Universal was giving one last Fuck You to the anti-woke brigade.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | November 29, 2024 5:51 AM |
The parade was one long commercial back in the 1980s as well. Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Masters of the Universe (really embarrassing, that one!), Alvin and the Chipmunks, Rainbow Brite, Sesame Street, GI Joe all made appearances. Even Betty Boop when they were trying to revive her. There's one video where you can hear every adult in the crowd moan, groan, or swear while the kids cheered when the Care Bears float came into view.

United 93. I suppose it's only a matter of time, though.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | November 29, 2024 2:20 PM |
R59, there will be a whole dance number to the song "Let's Roll!"
