Great listen! It was originally recorded over a year ago, during the strike, but delayed for reasons the host explains in the intro. Among the many interesting tidbits I learned:
-- She was "great chums" with Susan Sarandon until directing Susan in the off-Broadway play "A Couple of White Chicks Sitting Around Talking" (co-starring Eileen Brennan) destroyed their friendship. LOL .
-- Getting her TV Directing-break on The Nanny: Dorothy had been friends with Fran & Peter, since the mid-late 1980s, when she opened an acting studio/school in L.A.-- Fran was one of her students. When she met them, Fran & Peter had a little side-business making gourmet *baked* croutons (which were not really a mainstream thing yet) to pay the bills & ended up selling it to a larger L.A. bakery. I thought I knew a lot about The Nanny & Fran, but I had never heard ANY of that.
