Mark Ballas and Derek Hough did the Tango on the DWTS Finale

Watching these two amazingly talented and coordinated professional male dancers working together, was simply amazing.

They are so perfectly matched in ability, but also in height.

Incredible.

My only wish is that they made it a little bit more sensual, instead of so physical.

That said, I can't wait to hear what the feedback was from the conservative viewers of DWTS.

Love how they do the typical tango thing of seeming to ignore each other, but occasionally their eyes catch and it becomes incredibly intimate.

They tried very hard not to have a hint of gay. They were great technically but had no chemistry in their quest not be appear gay.

Queer Tango competition has been a thing in other countries for quite some time, especially Argentina. Many don't know this, but the tango originated as a dance between two men.

The DwtS performance was all technical perfection with some serious athleticism. But as others have noted, there was nothing sensual or sexy about the dance.

I'm really impessed with the choreography, I gasped a couple of times at the moves, but the tango posted at R13 shows some real top/bottom tension/attraction between the dancers. Sensual at times and some desire being shared. Mark and Derek had not of that.

Apparently no one noticed it was merely a clockwork tango cynically presenting two Mormon men behaving like "athletes."

No actual tango vibe there. Just aging asses who can still go through the motions and play to the twats.

Thank you, OP. That was beautiful and hot. It's like two boxers sparring with each other. I may prefer to see a man and woman pair off in dancing, but the tango exudes this raw masculinity. It works with Ballas and Hough.

Shirley Ballas (and husband Corky) did dance workshops all over - did one in Utah and spotted Julianne and considered her as a partner for their son Mark. At the time she was too young, but Derek had been bullied and had moved schools because of it, and his parents were going through a messy divorce, so it was arranged for the Ballases to take Derek to London as their ward (and dance student). I think he was 12 when that happened.

A bit later, Julianne joined him in London, maybe at 10 or 11? The kids were enrolled in one of those performing arts schools - Italia Conti I think. Eventually, the kids lived in a house by themselves (Shirley's mother came to do housework) - Mark and Julianne were romantically involved. They had a falling out, and Julianne left London at 15 to return to live with her mother - and that didn't work out - and then with her father, where she would stood up for her Senior prom. She said she later regretted that she came back to the states.

Oh and the three kids had a band - 2B1G (two boys one girl). And later the guys paired up in another band called Almost Amy. And Derek won best newcomer in London's West End (2006, Footloose).

Oh and Mark and Julianne did become partners and won some ballroom competitions as kids. Derek competed too with some other girl.

“She raised her hand and slapped it hard across my cheek,” he recalls. “I swear I almost swallowed my teeth . . . That was the day I learned never to lie to Shirley.”

Even when Derek, now 29, was on his best behavior at home, Shirley often treated him cruelly.

“When I lived with the Ballases, being sick was never really an option,” he writes. “If I had the flu, Shirley would give me a throat lozenge and usher me off on the train to school. There was just no sympathy.”

Apparently, the ballroom legend needed her students to be ready to dance, no matter the circumstances.

“If you can’t go to school, then you can’t go to rehearsals. And if you can’t go to rehearsals, then you can’t do the competitions,” Derek claims Shirley warned him.

Though Derek praises Corky and Shirley’s extreme tough love approach in his new book, Julianne says her time in London turned her into a “dark person.”

“I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer. I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy façade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love,” the now 26-year-old recently said.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Corky and Shirley Ballas were furious when Julianne spoke out last year about the abuse she experienced.

“They’re livid with Julianne over suggestions that she was abused in the U.K. under their care,” a Ballas family insider told Star. “At Corky’s own expense, he took Julianne into his home and turned her into a world-class dancer. He feels like he has been ambushed.”
