Even if true Ariana Grande is one the biggest recording artist in the world right now and at the time of filming. Cynthia Eviro was barely a household name. 15 mil sounds about right in today’s world for an artist of her stature. Disney star turned 21st century Mariah Carey.

Although I do wish the film had been made while Idina Menzel was still young enough to play Elphaba, Cynthia gives a great performance. She really puts her heart into the role.

That being said, Ariana is by far the bigger star. She's brought a much bigger fanbase, and more publicity, to the film than Cynthia has. If it's true that her salary really was fifteen times Cynthia's, though, it does seem excessive.
