Tasteful Friends: When a French Chateau in need of a little TLC meets American grit and can do attitude
[QUOTE] Three years ago, when Mark Goff and Phillip Engel had their first viewing of Château Avensac in the south of France, only one thing prevented the California couple from putting in an offer: Was it old enough?
The gate tower, supporting walls, and stone bridge at the estate's entrance date back to the original medieval castle built in 1320. But the main building — a 48-room château with sweeping views of the Gers, the rural, foie-gras-producing region of southwest France — was rebuilt in the 1820s. "The idea of the royals and the nobles, to us, is a very romantic idea," Goff says. "That's why we love 'Bridgerton.'"

They buy a money pit because they like Bridgerton?
Why would you even speak that aloud - let alone put it in an article for people to read? Do they not know how fucking stupid and pretentious that sounds?
Ugh - a lot of these chateaus are in the middle of nowhere. Very isolating.
Who do they think are going to want to do a wedding or corporate event in the middle of nowhere?

So, they spoke with both, but photographed Engel; that is a good match.
*THUMP*THUMP*THUMP*
“I say, M’Lard, is your chateau haunted????
“No, that’s Goff crawling up the staircase. It’s physical therapy!”

Who's going to buy this once their interest in this place dies?

I’m sure their new neighbors adore them.

Between the dumb cunts CNN interviewed about their move to France and these bozos, Americans are really looking stupid.

They have a YouTube channel. Ok - it does look beautiful and I can see the charm.
That being said - It's fucking falling apart! Everywhere! I don't think anyone has lived there in over 50-60 years.
No way - that's too much work. Just fucking FURNISHING the place is going to be outrageous, let alone getting the lighting, electric, heating, and other things up to code. All the walls need plastering - the staircases need to be redone and reinforced.
It's in the southwest of France - about an hour drive from Toulouse, so that's not soo bad. Just what the hell are they going to do with all of that?

I enjoyed watching Escape to the Chateau. She’s very talented and he’s an amazing engineer.
