Jack Smith Drops All Criminal Charges Against Donald Trump—Judge Dismisses Jan. 6 Case

The landmark federal prosecutions of President-elect Donald Trump effectively came to an end Monday, as Special Counsel Jack Smith asked a judge to dismiss felony charges against Trump for trying to overturn the 2020 election and dropped a fight to reinstate classified document charges—ending the historic saga before Trump retakes office.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan accepted Smith’s request Monday afternoon and dismissed the case without prejudice.

Hidden deep within this dismissal is that the judge did so WITHOUT PREJUDICE. What that means in layman's terms is that the charges could be refiled at some future date. I hope that Jack Smith is using lots of safety deposit boxes around the country to store the mounds of evidence he has collected against Trump with memos to lots of people about where and how to retrieve them in the case of his death. When Trump is out of office again, I would hope and pray that everyone of these criminal lawsuits and indictments would be reinstated.

Dream on.

R1 you realize most of the country doesn't care about that and just view it as Democrats relentlessly harassing Trump.

It's bad optics and it just makes the Dems look bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if Smith ended up falling out a window.
