MAGA is feeling buyer's remorse today..
When the tariffs kick in with Canada the immediate effect will be on gasoline we get from Canadian pipelines.
People just didn't listen when we warned them about him bankrupting a casino. This will be bigger than the Great Depression if he keeps this up. I'm putting my money in an offshore account, what are you doing to safeguard your finances? We're all going to be suffering through this.

That scores of people are finally paying attention gives me schaudenfreude..along with red state construction companies complaining about their immigration work force getting gutted and retailers realizing that they will all be facing bankruptcy when those tariffs kick in. Ususally you won't feel the pain of the GOP's bad economic policies until you get towards the end of their presidency (remember Bush Jr?) but the negative effects will be felt immediately. If things go as he plans, every little thing will become more exoensive.

It does matter who they blame.
If they believe it's some bizarre deep state, liberal conspiracy to undermine cheeto, it will make it much easier to enact even more rights stripping policies and laws that make our lives worse.
If their orange messiah is being unfairly persecuted and George Soros and HRC are destroying the economy to punish him, they'll only go further into the crazy.
We've long passed the point where rational thought and reason are controlling people's ideas and actions. It'll be the fault of immigrants, the gays, non-xtians and those people will be targeted by mobs of angry magats when the glory of all cheeto's promises don't come to pass. When America is worse than it's been in the past century, we'll slip into a true authoritarian state as the masses will accept anything for the promise to end the pain and misery.

Can’t link to it but WAPO reports:
[quote] The poll shows that Americans have no higher priority than lowering the costs of goods and services in the aftermath of the recent high inflation numbers. Fully 79 percent of Americans say this should be a “high priority,” far ahead of any other items including cutting taxes. And Americans think new tariffs — basically a tax on imports under which costs are generally passed on to consumers — would lead to higher prices, 59 percent to 18 percent.
[quote]And yet! Americans also say they favor new tariffs, 52-48.

It’s natural to look for silver linings after a disappointing loss. It easily turns into desperation - as it did for Democrats in 2016 (Jill Stein recounts, unfaithful electors) and deplorables in 2020 (dialing for votes, hanging Mike Pence, smearing shit on the Capitol walls).
Take anyone telling you how this plays out with a grain of salt - they’re either spreading despair or actively peddling it for clicks and views. As Jamelle Bouie says, steer clear of the Resistance Grifters.

[quote]The manufacturing of the motorcycle parts used by Harley-Davidson occurs in several factories located across the world. There are parts manufacturers in Mexico, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, and Japan. Some of the parts are still made in the U.S. and used with enough frequency to earn the "Made in America" label on any Harley purchased in America. However, with so many different sources, parts, and motorcycle models, it's nearly impossible to pinpoint the exact origins of every motorcycle that rolls off the line.
Even the bikers who are so proud to ride their "American-made" motorcycles are in for a shock.

Part of the issue is that so many Americans alive today have never gone thru really hard times. We have lived in a world where wars have never impacted us, at least here at home. We live in a world of relative wealth and plenty. And no one on DL is starving. Our suffering does not match up to the suffering in history.
I have relatives that fought in world wars, many died young, 3 went into the coal mines to work full time before they turned 14. Lots of hard times in the past. And more will come in the future.
The world is not always going to be pointing Up.
When the tough times come, and in time they will, the tough and the smart and the prepared will do better. Those surrounded by good support systems will do better.
The weak the soft the unprepared will fall behind.
