I hope his Broadway play flops.
It’s not your fault Cloons. Biden would have done much worst.

R6 Some Italian men can be very mouthy.

When did he get so Middle Eastern-looking? He looks like a Persian grandpa in OP's pic.

I'd buy a carpet from him.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 25, 2024 11:58 PM |
The NYT will still publish his non-political musings because he's a fucking celebrity.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 26, 2024 12:00 AM |
It amazed me that most celebrities still haven't realized that most people don't give a shit about them and haven't for almost 10 years.

That's 100% true. And everyone but the democrats realized that a year and a half ago.
And it was shitty the way Clooney and the democrats got Biden out of the race. But Biden's family is really to blame. They knew what he was like & that he'd never be able to get through another term. But Jill encouraged him to run again.
George Clooney is an asshole. He didn't need to do that to Biden so publicly. I never really cared for him, but that spectacle of a wedding that he had made me hate him and see him for what he really is. Just another scumbag actor.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 26, 2024 12:46 AM |
One of the things among others, that caused the Dems to lose was their dependence on these clueless celebs. Didn't they learn in 2016 from Hilary doing the same thing?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 26, 2024 12:48 AM |
I hate George Clooney. Always have. Always will. He’s a terrible actor and massive asshole.

I'm not so sure I agree.
In the end, Biden's stubbornness about running again has to come down to his own choices: the buck stops with him. His biggest flaw has always been his enormous ego.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 26, 2024 1:00 AM |

I too think it was Jill Biden's (and other members of the family) responsibility to convince Joe to be a 1 term president after his sundowning started, probably over a year ago.

Go back to Italy and fuck yourself right in the lake Cuomo.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 26, 2024 1:04 AM |
Sounds like a huge over-estimation of his influence, to me.
And a misplacement of blame. I blame MAGAs/Republicans, not movie stars.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 26, 2024 1:05 AM |
Could he please build a time machine so that he can go back and drop out of politics a year ago? Otherwise I don’t want to hear it
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 26, 2024 1:05 AM |
Also, like many folks having this discourse on other platforms, folks here are overlooking the fact that if Biden had declined to run again in 2023, Bernie 100% would have thrown his hat into the ring again and we’d be fucked anyway
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 26, 2024 1:07 AM |
Good, quit. No one asked you to get involved in politics anyway. Bye, Felicia!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 26, 2024 1:08 AM |
Clooney helped Biden by making sure he was spared a humiliating defeat. Jill should send him a fruit basket.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 26, 2024 1:12 AM |
I bet he was so looking forward to Kamala winning -- he could taste it -- because her becoming the first female/WOC president would make him a historical figure.
Everyone would trace that historical moment back to Clooney's NYT op-ed, where he publicly beseeched Biden to drop out, thus paving the way for Kamala to be president.
If only...
Instead, he's left looking and feeling defeated/humiliated in his dotage, because 2024 will now be remembered as the year that celebrity endorsements and legacy media died.

George come back. We need you to push those Republicans off the cliff and shut them up forever.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 27, 2024 1:02 PM |
R11 friend you need to come to DL where the boys go on and on and on and on and on about celebs all the time.
What celebs do you want to see naked, how many celeb dicks have you see, threads about really old gay icon celebs, celebs we hate, the celebs we love, the where are they now celebs. Etc etc etc etc
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 27, 2024 1:02 PM |

Have you ever attended the concert of a some semi-obscure performer only to look around and see that the room is filled not with what you'd like to think are similarly discerning souls, but instead are flaming assholes?
Clooney reminds me of this phenomenon. Even when we agree on some matter, he comes off as offensive and smug. In political opinions, we are birds of a feather, more or less, and it's odd to have the urge to disagree with someone voicing an opinion we share, but he's just so disagreeable in his agreement.
I don't wish him any ill and don't think he had the least influence in landing the election where it did, but a quiet retirement would be quietly appreciated from this quarter.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 27, 2024 1:46 PM |
His upcoming okay is simply unnecessary. I hope it’s a disaster.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 27, 2024 2:12 PM |
Now Dems turn on Dem $$$ supporters of Harris and wish they suffer and experience disaster.
Rats see Ship
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 27, 2024 2:22 PM |
Clooney was definitely feeling himself but he was put up to it by the Democratic establishment -- Pelosi, Shumer, Clinton, Obama, etc. They didn't want to be the first ones calling for Biden's withdrawal as candidate so they gave it to Clooney. Clooney alone would not have been persuasive so it is unfair to lay this at his feet. Just as I don't want to hear anyone blame Kamala Harris, she outperformed Biden's prospects by a significant margin. His electoral defeat would have been truly humiliating.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 27, 2024 2:35 PM |
Not only is he quitting politics but the viewing audience is quitting George Of course Apple decided not to make a sequel to Wolf which was a 200 million dollar disaster. Just a lousy movie with faded stars - George & Brad. Then the director issued a statement that he didn't want to make the sequel due to a lack of trust in Apple. It's a nice way for the director to take the heat for the failure of the film instead of it falling on the shoulders of his two movie stars. I do recall that George was flipping out in the leaked Sony emails about the negative reviews of The Monuments Men. It was said that George was very upset and deeply affected by the criticism of that movie.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 27, 2024 2:46 PM |
Hate to say it but Clooney was decisive in making Biden drop out. The media had it out for the old dog but average Americans do not actually pay that much attention to talking heads on MSNBC and liberal podcasts. A bigtime movie star is what did it. Dumb but true.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 27, 2024 3:01 PM |
Apple is garbage at promoting anything, but the biggest problem was Clooney and Pitt did zero press, probably partially because both of their reputations aren’t great right now. What could they have expected? I still don’t even have a clue what that movie is about…never saw a trailer…nothing. Where did the money go.

Wrong. They could have done press for this. The press should have been lined up MONTHS before this series was released. They just didn't want to do it. They thought their "star power" was enough to sell this show.
Even so, Clooney's reputation isn't good right now. Pitt's is fine. He could have done press. But he also thought his star power is enough to draw viewers. Apple was ok with it and hired them knowing they wouldn't do any press. They have no one to blame but themselves.
