Musk wants to buy MSNBC

Elon Musk has called MSNBC “the utter scum of the Earth.” He has said the channel “peddles puerile propaganda.” Just a few days ago he said, “MSNBC is going down.” And now he is posting memes about buying the channel.

by Anonymousreply 83November 26, 2024 6:08 PM

Why would anyone want to buy it? Its circling the drain.

by Anonymousreply 1November 25, 2024 6:18 PM

^ So he can troll and own the libs. He doesn't care if it loses money.

by Anonymousreply 2November 25, 2024 6:20 PM

Too many people have taken up residence in his rectum. It's not normal for one person to experience this kind of sycophancy, and they've convinced him he can do anything.

by Anonymousreply 3November 25, 2024 6:22 PM

Sure, why not ruin it like he did Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 4November 25, 2024 6:22 PM

MAGA folks have constantly complained they're being censored. Yet Musk's wish to purchase and kill MSNBC is exactly what they're always complaining about. The hypocrisy is so obvious. A billionaire with the ways and means to silence millions more people.

by Anonymousreply 5November 25, 2024 6:22 PM

Musk is a greater threat to America than Trump.

by Anonymousreply 6November 25, 2024 6:23 PM

I hope that there's someone with enough clout to convince NBC Universal (or whatever they're calling themselves today) to say no to Musk.

by Anonymousreply 7November 25, 2024 6:26 PM

Will he use Russian oligarch money as he did to buy the twitters?

by Anonymousreply 8November 25, 2024 6:27 PM

Pathetic. Remember when Elon tried to wimp out of buying Twitter? He had to be forced to go through with it and had to borrow against his Tesla stock.

by Anonymousreply 9November 25, 2024 6:30 PM

He’d buy it to shut it down or turn it into another right-wing outlet.

by Anonymousreply 10November 25, 2024 6:31 PM

Comcast is spinning off its cable operations. After that happens, anyone can buy up the stock.

by Anonymousreply 11November 25, 2024 6:32 PM

The same guy who proclaims himself a “free speech absolutist.”

by Anonymousreply 12November 25, 2024 6:36 PM

What he means by that is “Let speech I like blossom.”

by Anonymousreply 13November 25, 2024 6:39 PM

There isn't, R7.

by Anonymousreply 14November 25, 2024 6:44 PM

There are no billionaires on the side of the people. Hoping one will rescue us or rescue MSNBC is like believing in Santa Claus. None of them care about us. None of them care about anything other than themselves.

by Anonymousreply 15November 25, 2024 6:50 PM

Mark Cuban and Bill Gates are decent billionaires compared to Musk.

by Anonymousreply 16November 25, 2024 6:56 PM

[quote] I hope that there's someone with enough clout to convince NBC Universal (or whatever they're calling themselves today) to say no to Musk.

You mean convince SpinCo. Musk’s money will be just as attractive as any other potential buyer’s.

by Anonymousreply 17November 25, 2024 7:11 PM

Can Elon Musk just fuck off and die already?

by Anonymousreply 18November 25, 2024 7:14 PM

He doesn’t need to buy just MSNBC. He can buy the whole SpinCo. Chump change for him.

by Anonymousreply 19November 25, 2024 7:14 PM

He knows the wheels are coming off X. Liberals are flocking to Bluesky and X is an unusable hellscape of pornbots, jihadists, JK Rowling cultists and nazis.

by Anonymousreply 20November 25, 2024 7:19 PM

Why does he look like a befuddled, defrocked NUN!?

by Anonymousreply 21November 25, 2024 7:22 PM

Maybe someone like Bill Gates or Mark Cuban will buy it.

First order of business-FIRE JOE AND MIKA

by Anonymousreply 22November 25, 2024 7:28 PM

I don't mind the Musk threads, but could we all agree not to post pics of his PASTY, BEADY-EYED PIG FACE?

Please?

by Anonymousreply 23November 25, 2024 7:41 PM

Elon always looks like he hasn’t bathed in a few weeks. Don Jr and Bannon also look smelly and unwashed. And we all know Dump is wearing a diaper full of greasy turds.

Is bathing a liberal thing?

by Anonymousreply 24November 25, 2024 7:43 PM

The hilarity of calling MSNBC propaganda, when Fox, Newsmax et al are hardcore propaganda, funded in part by foreign adversaries.

by Anonymousreply 25November 25, 2024 7:48 PM

Bill Gates isn't a good guy, his philanthropy was his wife's idea, she dumped his ass because of his involvement with Epstein.

by Anonymousreply 26November 25, 2024 7:55 PM

Don't dismiss this.

This is how the Twitter takeover started. If he controls twitter and destroys MSNBC, there really isn't much hope for an informed public. What makes you think he won't go after CNN next?

Washington Post and NYT are already showing where they lean after this last election. LA Times is also hardcore rightwing.

Controlling the media is the surest way to control the public.

by Anonymousreply 27November 25, 2024 8:07 PM

He's ugly.

by Anonymousreply 28November 25, 2024 8:11 PM

[quote] Controlling the media is the surest way to control the public.

Let him buy Fox News.

by Anonymousreply 29November 25, 2024 8:12 PM

[quote] Is bathing a liberal thing?

Yes, hygiene is considered weak and beta for the retartet reich wingers. Dump's Secretary of Defense pick, the rapey and drugger Pete Hegseth, bragged on Fox about not washing his hands for 10 years.

by Anonymousreply 31November 25, 2024 8:50 PM

[quote] Let him buy Fox News.

There's no need for that.

They're already doing the work for him.

He wants to buy the media that he can't control.

by Anonymousreply 32November 25, 2024 9:21 PM

I absolutely cannot WAIT for the inevitable fracture of Elon-Trump.

That breakup will be more spectacular than the DC July 4th fireworks AND the Port Neches TPC plant double explosion and fire.

[quote]Can Elon Musk just fuck off and die already?

If only his personal assistant dosed his food and drink with sedatives.

by Anonymousreply 34November 25, 2024 10:05 PM

I’m not convinced that Trump has a choice about Elon. Orders from their boss.

by Anonymousreply 35November 25, 2024 10:15 PM

Doesn’t matter. There can be only ONE drug addled, insane diva, bitches!

by Anonymousreply 36November 25, 2024 10:20 PM

Dead eyes.

by Anonymousreply 37November 25, 2024 10:22 PM

*shrug* They proved themselves useless in this election anyway so if he wants to flush more of his money on what’s already a sinking ship, let him

by Anonymousreply 38November 25, 2024 10:23 PM

Not only has it “started,” it’s already getting worse by the day. Felonious Fatty hasn’t even taken office yet.

by Anonymousreply 39November 25, 2024 10:26 PM

He's such an insufferable fuckface. But, as the saying goes, pride comes before a fall.

by Anonymousreply 40November 25, 2024 11:49 PM

Hi mommy never told him no. It’s a big problem in the world today. He could do a new series, Epstein island featuring him and all his friends in a porno expose of dick size to attract viewers. Who can stay hard with Marjorie T green in the room. Maga entertainment rivaling that of WWF fighting.

by Anonymousreply 41November 26, 2024 12:05 AM

MSNBC's ratings are tanking. Why would he even want it? People don't watch it now, they're certainly not gonna watch if HE buys it.

by Anonymousreply 42November 26, 2024 12:13 AM

R42 same reason he bought Twitter when it was already dying — to kill it faster

by Anonymousreply 43November 26, 2024 12:34 AM

People here should read the fucking article.

by Anonymousreply 44November 26, 2024 12:34 AM

Who cares? It’s all media, words you can find anywhere. And if Musk buys up all the “opposition” the MAGAs will grow frustrated with the lack of “hot takes” for them to rail against.

Let it burn.

by Anonymousreply 45November 26, 2024 12:48 AM

You're a moron, R45.

by Anonymousreply 46November 26, 2024 12:59 AM

This past election tore it for me. WE need propaganda like the right has. We need radio, TV and streaming. Voters are idiots who vote on vibes, and the vibes are from what they hear. The right wing has their propaganda circuit AND the traditional press either agreeing with them for tax cuts, clicks/subs, or just plain FEAR.

The left, liberals, Democrats, civilized human begins, NEED MSNBC and another liberal channel and about 5 streaming ones and a radio presence for people trapped in their damn cars.

Count with me: AM Radio-right wing hate FM Radio-right wing simulcasts Fox Nazi News Fox Nazi Business Newsmax OAN The First Real America's Voice

The last 2 are streaming only. And OAN and Newsmax are over the air on digital subchannels.

WE need to counter-program this or we're going to always be at the mercy of idiots voting cause the Egg Prices are Too Damn High.

by Anonymousreply 47November 26, 2024 1:07 AM

^ Not to mention Sinclair owns a lot of TV stations around the country, subtly pumping out reich wing talking points to people watching local news.

by Anonymousreply 48November 26, 2024 1:09 AM

I guess my dream scenario would be Reuters, AP or a non-profit acquired MSNBC, rebuild the outlet to a focus on reporting, a higher foreign affairs content and a lower share of opinion shows, possibly a daily talk show format a la Larry King.

by Anonymousreply 49November 26, 2024 1:20 AM

There's a bill in Congress right now to strip non-profit groups of their tax exempt status. That would include NPR, AP, and many others.

by Anonymousreply 50November 26, 2024 1:25 AM

R49, don't switch your day job to news production.

by Anonymousreply 51November 26, 2024 1:35 AM

That would tank in today's environment, r49.

by Anonymousreply 52November 26, 2024 1:40 AM

He's the new Rupert Murdoch.

by Anonymousreply 53November 26, 2024 1:54 AM

R50 Churches and the religious based medicine scams need stripping of their non taxable status too. They blatantly use the pulpit for politics where I live and the Christian’s even try to get prayer and bible crap into the schools. I live in a blue state. This country is failing terribly in so many respects. It’s an engine of inequality from top to toe

by Anonymousreply 54November 26, 2024 1:54 AM

R47 the problem with that is MSNBC is also owned by a Trump supporter. It’s useless to us. We need Mark Cuban to buy a network.

by Anonymousreply 55November 26, 2024 1:56 AM

R51, R52, that's why I call it my dream scenario. It's what I ideally get if it was up to me. I'm not claiming that it is a realistic scenario. It actually happens quite rarely that someone builds a TV channel per my personal requirement list. It would be nice though.

by Anonymousreply 56November 26, 2024 2:00 AM

[quote] the problem with that is MSNBC is also owned by a Trump supporter.

Huh, R55?

by Anonymousreply 57November 26, 2024 2:27 AM

I hope he does-no one but elderly watch it.

by Anonymousreply 58November 26, 2024 2:37 AM

Another idiot and another moronic assumption at R58. Wrong.

by Anonymousreply 59November 26, 2024 2:42 AM

R58 is thinking of Fox.

by Anonymousreply 60November 26, 2024 2:44 AM

[quote]I hope he does-no one but elderly watch it.

[quote][R58] is thinking of Fox.

From a WSJ article this year:

"The cable news audience is even older, with MSNBC’s median age at 70, Fox News’s at 69 and CNN’s, 67. Among broadcasters, CBS’s median age is 64 and ABC’s is 66."

The MSNBC audience is the oldest.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 61November 26, 2024 3:16 AM

By 1 year, R61. So I guess they're all viewed by the elderly. So not a very compelling argument at R58.

by Anonymousreply 62November 26, 2024 3:19 AM

r59 wasn't comparing the MSNBC audience to any other. His point was that MSNBC's audience is elderly and that's true.

by Anonymousreply 63November 26, 2024 3:22 AM

Sorry, I meant R58,. ^^

by Anonymousreply 64November 26, 2024 3:23 AM

ALL the viewers of all those shows are elderly, R63--within a year of each other. r58 wasn't making much of a point.

If there's anything to be gleaned, it's that senior citizens get their news from TV and younger generations don't. What a news flash.

by Anonymousreply 65November 26, 2024 3:45 AM

Musk wants to fire an abundance of government workers.

by Anonymousreply 66November 26, 2024 3:45 AM

This is what happens when people elect a 78 year old incompetent president.

by Anonymousreply 67November 26, 2024 3:46 AM

And why anyone would "hope," as Miss R58 does, for a megalomaniacal billionaire to buy a news source just to destroy it is not a very coherent wish.

by Anonymousreply 68November 26, 2024 3:49 AM

Anyway, MSNBC is not for sale. So fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 69November 26, 2024 3:50 AM

I can’t believe Amber Heard fucked this ugly robot ass mother fucker.

by Anonymousreply 70November 26, 2024 3:52 AM

R67, this is what happens when a bunch of fucking idiots in swing states get to make the most crucial decision for all of us. Stupid fucking country. MAGAts will really "reap the rewards" of a busted economy and through-the-roof inflation.

by Anonymousreply 71November 26, 2024 3:52 AM

[quote]Musk is a greater threat to America than Trump.

Garbage R6. Trump unites all the threats (people, movements, policies etc.) and concentrates them into finely tuned weapons which are disguised as something else.

Musk is tolerated because of his money. Nobody likes him or wants him around because there's something wrong with him - but they tolerate him because of his money and the power that buys.

Musk is infinitely damaging yes but there is no greater threat to the US and the world than Trump & co.

by Anonymousreply 72November 26, 2024 3:52 AM

If the median age of those news channels is all in the sixties, where do the under-60s get their news from? Not actually sure I want to get an answer to that.

by Anonymousreply 73November 26, 2024 4:52 AM

[quote]If the median age of those news channels is all in the sixties, where do the under-60s get their news from? Not actually sure I want to get an answer to that.

by Anonymousreply 75November 26, 2024 7:26 AM

R70 I mean…Johnny was a hideous bloated mess when she married him too so I don’t think looks are a problem for her

by Anonymousreply 76November 26, 2024 12:28 PM

Both Heard and Depp are druggie alcoholic drama queens. Both seriously mentally ill. Heard doesn't have good taste in men.

[quote] This past election tore it for me. WE need propaganda like the right has.

They operate on gut feelings. Negative gut feelings like resentment and fear.

We can’t just create a liberal propaganda machine to match theirs. There is no market for it.

by Anonymousreply 78November 26, 2024 2:44 PM

Musk is behaving like he thinks he's the next president.

by Anonymousreply 79November 26, 2024 2:49 PM

R76, Johnny looked GOOD when they got together.

Watch The Rum Diary, if you haven’t already.

by Anonymousreply 81November 26, 2024 4:46 PM

We will be looking at many, many ugly faces for the next 4 years.
