The idea of a “sanctuary” city or state sounds insane to me. Sanctuary from federal immigration enforcement? What average American thinks that’s a great idea? This is one glaring issue where the Democrats have totally lost me. I think they should be outlawed, and I support any effort to end these ridiculous sanctuary policies.

I'm old and grew up in a sanctuary city. San Francisco in the 50s and on . t was something we were proud of. It was mainly churches who were in the lead for helping refugees in need. The image was of kindly people helping others in distress. In my family, we were raised in diversity and were taught to appreciate other cultures and to be kind to people in need.

SF declared itself an "official" sanctuary city in 1989 after already been considered a sanctuary unofficially before then. The 1989 act declares that "city employees are prohibited from using city funds or resources to enforce federal immigration policies. Yet, once drug dealers are convicted in federal courts their case goes outside the city's jurisdiction and could lead to deportations."

Green's threat doesn't change anything since those in the federal criminal system already have lost sanctuary protection.

Why doesn't she just go after kindness and compassion? It would be more honest and actually something to be proud of. No, hate wins the day.

I was a county court clerk and the judges would sentence the Mexicans in a way that would not trigger ICE. This pissed off one of the judges’ clerk, and she’d call ICE herself. An officer would come to the front counter and she’d casually saunter up there and give names and details. After that, I don’t know what happened.

I’m waiting for her to announce with glee how many people have been deported each month and I doubt she will tell us why that is a good use of taxpayer dollars.

If there's any silver lining to these troubled times and the accompanying expansion of poverty, it's the fact that there is definitely someone in MTG's district who would beat her ass for $20.
