[quote]On July 12, 2020, Woolery tweeted that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), doctors, the media, and Democratic Party were lying about the COVID-19 pandemic. Then-president Donald Trump retweeted Woolery's claims.[25][26] The following day, Woolery tweeted that his son had tested positive for the virus and that the "COVID-19 pandemic is real".
I'll give him a point for admitting publicly he was wrong. Did Jo Ann Pflug ever say what went wrong with their love connection?

As usual R13 right wingers have to know someone personally with the disease before they give a damn (they treated AIDS the same way).
I remember him being interviewed on television by someone on a red carpet & they were talking about the fed anti-discrimination act for LGBTS & he was against it saying that he had no right to "job protection" (but of course it covered heteros too). & of course he missed the entire reason that it was needed in the first place as a hetero he never lived in fear of losing a job due to his sexual orientation. Straight privilege at its finest.

by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 24, 2024 7:55 AM |
It's surprising how long a career he had in hosting game shows, because he was well known for being easily confused by the rules and game play of whatever show he was on. I guess people found it charming when he got befuddled.
One good thing I will say about him is that he always tried to help his contestants. When he made the final spin of the day on Wheel of Fortune he always tried to land on the highest dollar amount, and he got really good at it over the years. In forty years I never saw Sajak show a moment's interest in where he landed.
It's probably a stretch to say he was ever an ally, but he was at least cool with the gays. I saw this live when it aired in the 1980s, and everyone I told the story to thought I was making it up. Rest in peace, you big goofball MAGA troll.

Love Connection was all filmed in studios right in Hollywood. I watched a couple of times in the 80s. There was mysterious information about Southern California, like dates that involved 'driving along the coast' to Malibu.

by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 24, 2024 4:52 PM |
I always thought he was fine as fuck on WoF and Love Connection. But he seemed a bit dumb - which was probably accurate as those people just get by on their looks their entire life.
And I don't say this much, but there just seemed to be something gay-adjacent about him. I know he was a conservative and all that - but still there was something there.
Apparently he left WoF because he was making $65,000 a year - while other hosts (Richard Dawson, etc.) were making $500,000. Then the deal fell through and in stepped Pat Sajak - who I never liked and was always too cold and aloof.

I think Chuck was one of Lin Bolen's daytime hunks. In the 1970s, she replaced a bunch of older game show hosts with younger, good-looking hosts, and it was a hit. I think that's how Alex Trebek ended up on Jeopardy.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 24, 2024 5:09 PM |
His co-host posts a photo of them holding rifles in his death announcement. What is wrong with people. Sick death cult
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 24, 2024 5:20 PM |
Never watched Love Connection, but I do remember him on WoF in the daytime on NBC in the 70s. I was a young gayling then, and wondered why I was always getting a hard on when this good looking guy would come on my television screen in the summer, every morning at 11 am. I liked him much better than Sajack, too.
Merv Griffin saw his sex appeal back then (he started on The Merv Griffin show in the late 60s as a guest - a country singer) and made him a 'star' when he offered him the role of game show host for a new game he was producing. Merv had said it was his voice that convinced him he'd be a good TV personality for a morning show (re: attract all the housewives into watching him each morning), but I'm thinking it was his ass and VPL (he was in his early 30s) that Griffin really noticed.

I remember once in the ‘70s or ‘80s, Alex Trebek talked about sunbathing in the nude in his swimming pool.
Though I was just a child, I always imagined him with a big hairy bush.

I remember seeing this earlier this year and it is still up. I never saw the show or even heard of it, but some one here referred to his balls and I thought of this, Chuck of Celebrity Bowling. I personally think it’s making a mountain out of molehill, but he was kind of good looking when young.
