Heading to Manhattan for two nights - where to eat?

There must be some DL gourmands here. And no, I am not considering the Times Sq Olive Garden.

Considering - Le Veau'd Or, Cosme, Cecchi's, Don Angie, maybe Le Rock. Help, DL!

I loved the old Le Veau D’or and went frequently when I worked nearby. We haven’t been since it re-opened, but we might try to go in December. I’ve never been to any of the others on your list.

Quality Bistro is fun.

And Sammy’s is an experience. (But also haven’t been since it re-opened)

McDonald's

Columbus Avenue on the UWS used to have some nice places when I lived there 20 years ago. Does Isabella's still exist?

by Anonymousreply 5November 22, 2024 3:26 AM

You ain't gettin in to Don Angie's pal...

by Anonymousreply 6November 22, 2024 4:24 AM

Go to Gem Spa - get the egg cream!

by Anonymousreply 7November 22, 2024 5:19 AM

Most restaurants in New York are very good, they couldn't stay open otherwise. The magic of New York, like any great city, is serendipity, being open to the energy and just letting what will happen happen and going with it. Food is easy, you should be asking where can I find great live music.

by Anonymousreply 8November 22, 2024 10:21 AM

You’ll never get a table at Don Angie

by Anonymousreply 9November 22, 2024 10:50 AM

Op—clearly you’re not going to get answers on that level of restaurants….give up now.

by Anonymousreply 10November 22, 2024 10:50 AM

Gem Spa is long gone, r7.... :(

by Anonymousreply 11November 22, 2024 2:04 PM

Does anyone remember DOJO

by Anonymousreply 12November 22, 2024 2:05 PM

Sadly, I know R11 - I was just being nostalgic.

Meet you at Yaffa Cafe!

by Anonymousreply 13November 22, 2024 2:37 PM

Don Angie was disappointing for me. I'm not a huge fennel fan and it was in a lot of dishes. Plus it was a just a little too precious for me.

Between a crack whore's legs, perhaps?

Interesting theory.

What if OP wanders into one of the bad ones that hasn’t closed yet?

by Anonymousreply 16November 22, 2024 3:54 PM

To me New York is all about casual dining. Desperately searching for a bench to sit on to rest one's weary feet. The few sit down restaurants I went to didn't impress. L'Industrie pizza, Joe's Pizza, Los Tacos No. 1, Wah Fung for roast pork or New Kim Truong if it's closed.

by Anonymousreply 17November 22, 2024 4:37 PM

R17 what do recommend at Los Tacos No 1? I’ve never gone, but it always has a line out the door.

by Anonymousreply 18November 22, 2024 4:45 PM

r18 I got tacos of every meat. The adobada stood out I recall.

OP's going to be in NY for only 2 nights. "Serendipity" might not happen.

Why don't you give a recommendation on live music or even one restaurant?

by Anonymousreply 20November 22, 2024 5:06 PM

The McDonalds in New York have tablecloths and serve wine. No reservations required.

by Anonymousreply 21November 22, 2024 5:11 PM

Semma for Indian food. Or Bungalow.

by Anonymousreply 22November 23, 2024 2:12 AM

Hmmm op I see that Bad Roman is from the same people as don Angie. We are going there tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 23November 23, 2024 2:23 AM

There's a Fridays in Penn Station. It's got over 3 stars on Yelp. It's not too far from the Port Authority bus terminal.

by Anonymousreply 24November 23, 2024 2:28 AM

Manhattan, Illinois? Manhattan, Kansas? No one really knows! Many people say she comes through late at night…

by Anonymousreply 25November 23, 2024 2:31 AM

Summa is so dead—you can walk right in anytime and get a table for 4 🙄

by Anonymousreply 26November 23, 2024 2:46 AM

Semma^

by Anonymousreply 27November 23, 2024 2:47 AM

What did you decide OP?

by Anonymousreply 28November 29, 2024 5:31 PM

No one cares at this point.

by Anonymousreply 29November 29, 2024 6:24 PM

Go to RedFarm and get the duck.

by Anonymousreply 30November 29, 2024 6:47 PM

Yes — another chain restaurant …just what everyone coming to the city is looking for 👻

by Anonymousreply 31November 29, 2024 7:03 PM

Well I'm trying for Semma but the reservations haven't opened up yet.

by Anonymousreply 32December 6, 2024 1:46 AM
