Tillerson was not a bad choice at State. He was calm, courtly, and intelligent, he was really trying get things done with Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia. But because it wasn't Trump's idea, he shit on it.

I remember reading in The Divider by Peter Baker that Tillerson allowed only a handful of State Department advisors to go the White House because Tillerson was appalled by the "disorganization, chaos, profanity, and lack of professionalism that he saw in Trump and his White House.... He was horrified by what he saw."

Another excerpt I remember was Trump kept interrupting Tillerson, telling Tillerson that he understood the world, oil, energy, and leadership better than Tillerson and kept referring to the generals as "Trump mercenaries."

All this built up led to him calling Trump a "fucking moron."

He was considered incompetent and combative by career state department officials. The fact that he took a job in the Trump administration should tell you that he agrees with Trump on most issues. Who cares about his manners?
