Will you be going to see Nosferatu?
Focus features seems extremely confident about this one. They’ve been hosting screenings on both coasts that garnered very positive feedback from some of the industries most respected critics and cinema snobs. And painful as it is to type this, Lily Rose Depp is apparently very VERY good.
What say Datalounge. Is this all hype? Can a genre movie also be great cinema? Do we have a new horror classic on our hands? Is LRD a STAR?

I'll see anything with Nicholas Hoult in it, preferably unclothed.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson AND Nicholas Hoult?
Will they fuck?

I'm a huge fan of the original, so I might go see this. I'm waiting on all the reviews...

Nosferatu predicted it would be a big hit

The original is a thunderous bore, so this remake can’t be much worse.
I liked The Witch very much, but thought The Lighthouse was pretentious and overwrought. I’m hoping Nosferatu is more like the former than the latter.

I will not be watching this.

The nepo baby casting makes me not want to see it

Of course. I love the original and even though The Idol was a piece of shit it wasn’t Lily Rode Depps fault

I admittedly gave pause about Lily Rose-Depp and her oblong egghead being a lead in this, but I am reserving judgment because I have never seen her in anything before. I thought the trailer was quite effective. I trust Robert Eggers and most of the reviews I've read/watched suggest it's his best film to date. I have seen both the 1922 and the 1979 Kinski films and enjoy both of this, so I am interested to see what his take is on the material. The fact that all of the leading men in it (Hoult, Taylor-Johnson, and Skarsgard, even though I'm sure he's made up to look hideous) are hot as fuck is a bonus.
I already bought tickets to go see it on Christmas Eve night with my brother (who is also a big fan of Eggers).

Skarsgard apparently shows full vampire cock in this

Then I’ll be going for two showings r11

If there is a threesome scene between Nicholas Hoult, Bill Skarsgard, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, I'm in.

All of them are gorgeous. I had no idea Nicholas Hoult was so tall—taller than Skarsgard? Maybe it's the shoes.

[quote]Christmas Eve night
Isn't Eve short for evening? Grammar queens, do we need to specify night? Do people think Christmas Eve refers to the entire day before?

I saw it tonight at my local multiplex. The showing was almost completely sold out. I liked it overall, but I honestly wanted to like it more. It did not have the same effect on me that his previous films had (specifically "The Witch" and "The Lighthouse"). There was something missing here, and I'm not sure what. Visually, it was stunning. The period details were fantastically executed. I thought the performances were really good as well.
That being said, the movie was two hours and twelve minutes long, but it literally felt like three-plus to me, and I'm not entirely sure why. There was a kind of rinse-and-repeat feel in the last half of it that really started to bore me. It felt like the story was running in circles for no real good reason, and things never really reached a proper fever pitch. When you contrast it against the 1979 version, that film is notably shorter, and yet it feels more complete and well-rounded to me.

Bill Skarsgard was 100% unrecognizable in this. You do see his flaccid vampire cock which looked quite big, but I am not sure if it was a prosthetic or not. I know he's shown his dick before, so I'm guessing not. I will say I especially enjoyed the shots of Nicholas Hoult's pert ass as he was running around Orlok's castle in those Victorian trousers.

[quote]Hoult told Elle that he owns Skarsgård’s prosthetic penis from his Court Orlok character. In fact, Hoult has the prop framed.

Hoult looks more chiseled in that photo at R19. Is it the camera angle? All three men are very handsome in their own ways.

I will see it - of course, I always want to dress Nick in a cashmere scoop neck girlfriend sweater. That may be anachronistic for this weighty film.

Yes, for some people, mostly churchgoers, Christmas Eve can refer to the entire Dec 24. So, for them, it’s not redundant & it might make sense to add “night” if necessary. Most of us just think eve means the night before Christmas.

I'll see it. I love Bran Stoker's Dracula (1992). If it's half as good as that movie then I'll be happy. I know it's not about Dracula.

Skarsgaard is so overused. Enough already.
