The forceful tariffs promoted by President-elect Donald Trump would likely lead to higher prices for consumers, according to a top executive at Walmart, the U.S.’ largest company by revenue, a notable warning on the potential inflationary effects of Trump’s favored trade policy tool.
Wal-Mart issues dire warning about price hikes..

The huge price of “owning the libs” just isn’t worth it to his supporters. They have to give up so much.
And they get NOTHING in return. They just sit back and watch republican elites get richer and richer while they foot the bill.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 19, 2024 9:38 PM |
While WE ALL foot the bill, R1.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 19, 2024 9:42 PM |
That’s what happens when you run on something you truly believe in. That’s the one regard I kinda respect Trump about. He said it himself. “Believe it or not the illegal immigration is more important than the economy” Trump hates any and all things foreign. I still believe he is a threat to democracy.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 19, 2024 9:43 PM |
I don’t think it’s worth it to lose your family and have to surround yourself with crazies just to pay more money at the grocery store, loss of overtime pay, union dissolution, lost farm labor, loss of affordable health insurance and the list goes on.
It’s totally irrational.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 19, 2024 9:45 PM |
He’s not going to deport anybody. He never did the wall. He deported less people that Obama or Biden.
The deplorables literally get NOTHING in return.
Trump is a liberal after all. So they just voted in a liberal criminal who will do nothing but ruin the bargaining power of rural Americans.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 19, 2024 9:46 PM |
Trump loves everything that is foreign. He loves dictators and dictatorships. His wife is foreign. His two biggest donors are foreign.
His first term was consumed with foreigners. He is obsess and in love with everything foreign. He loves immigrants and employs them at all of his businesses.
All of his “merch” is made in foreign countries.
His father was a foreigner. His first wife too.
He hates America because he could never cut it here. He had to steal from everyone around him just to maintain his inheritance. He hates America and so does Cruz, Thiel, Musk and all the other foreigners he surrounds himself with.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 19, 2024 9:51 PM |
So, Musk is “against” sudden tariffs. What’s he gonna do about it, pout? He funded the campaign for the louse who’s going to levy them. Did he really think Trump regarded him as anything more than a Useful Fool?

by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 19, 2024 10:04 PM |
Not to mention if he kicks all the illegals from Central and South America out there will be no one to pick the crops. When the nitwits who voted for him are having to pay $6.00 for a head of iceberg lettuce (if their market even has any) maybe they'll regret their choice.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 19, 2024 10:04 PM |
trump is for sale..cheap.
He sold secrets to get favors from Russia, China (patents, secret bank account) SA (thanks, Jared) and Israel (again..thanks, Jared). He booked nationalists into his hotels and hoisted up the prices to launder fucking money. All of this has BLATENTLY happened and...nada.
Worst of all, he sold himself to the religious right...who also worked very hard with Russia, Elon, General Mike Flynn and Leonard Leo on a misinformation campaign that won him the election. JD Vance is going to be installed because trump isn't going to follow any plan or agreement. He'll do what he wants but JD Vance was meant to be installed.
Things aren't going as planned though. Stay tuned. The Republican in fighting might reveal some terrible things.

R11 But yet instead of focusing on that obsessively, the media runs endless stories about the crude jokes he makes or just offensive comments instead of the real meat and potatoes stuff. They made Trump into a black comedy soap opera and now we’re fucked.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 19, 2024 11:29 PM |
It's ok. President Musk said we (us, not him) would all have to suffer before things got better. This must be what he meant.
I'm sure President Musk will bring the prices way, way down soon though. He cares about us all and America, so much.
Mark my words. You'll see. You'll all see.

Mixed thoughts.
1) I hate that Trump lied to low information or low IQ voters about what tariffs and they believed his lie.
2) I don't want Trump to cause inflation because it hurts everyone, a lot, from the lower middle class down.
3) I don't like how unsustainable it is that so many imported items are so damned cheap. This helps very low income Americans but also encourages people with spare spending money to over consume, crap.
4) I don't like that Walmart systematically forced American manufacturers of consumer goods to offshore, and then also force American producers of FOOD to offshore. This again does help keep prices low for people on low budgets. But there are many downsides to a country losing manufacture of consumer goods. And too much food is imported to create a 12 month year supply when there are actually seasons for many things. Everything shouldn't always be available, except for quite rich consumers.
When I moved to Europe in the late 90s most food was still produced within the country and you could stills see the seasons reflected in supply. The European Union industrialised food production and that has many downsided. The upside is lower prices and longer seasons or no seasons.
I'm not in favour of tariffs and I suppose we can't turn back the clock in any country now. But quality of things and food has suffered somewhat and also an appreciation of food coming from nature, not from a supermarket. The carbon footprint of shipping all these goods and food around the world in this global supply chain is pretty gross.
It wouldn't be the worse thing if people ate food within its traditional local season and bought some consumer goods made in the country.
It's game hunting season right now in my country and I'm not a huge fan of game meat but I like it enough and look forward to eating it once or twice every season. Why do fresh raspberries have to be available to all consumers 12 months a year by flying them in from around the world? Why is lake trout served in a restaurant on Lake Geneva actually imported from Eastern Europe?

[quote]The middle class in the United States has long been the backbone of the economy, but as economic pressures continue to mount, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the future may not be as financially secure for them as it once was. Here are the top 10 things the middle class may struggle to afford in the next 10 years, with consideration of how tariffs and deportation policies could play a role.

Americans want the rich to get tax cuts, to own the libs, and to eat whatever they want when they want BY GOD and you won’t tell them otherwise!

[QUOTE]Don’t tell them to get a starter home when they want a McMansion in the ritzy part of town on a teacher’s salary!!!!!!!!!
Part of the problem is that so much of the new development focuses on homes that are really large and out of reach for young couples starting out or lower middle class families. In my neighborhood, which has a lot of older, smaller two and three bedroom homes as well as two bedroom duplexes, any new construction is huge by comparison and sometimes dwarfs neighboring homes. Sometimes they're disproportionate to the lot. But, you're right. Some folks have too-high expectations.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 21, 2024 4:45 AM |
Well people need to be building new homes. And others need to be expanding their homes, adding new structures or additions on their property.
That’s the only way out of thos. Build build build!

Something about "liberals" undermining him, the dark state, and the real cause of inflation being abortion and gay rights because companies have so many extra costs to support these these things.
