The White Lotus
I think the overarching theme of both seasons (and probably the upcoming third) is how primal people be - even sophisticated rich liberal/progressives. I also like that the show is cynical, but never deteriorates into nihilism. Plus, it knows how to be un-PC without pulling any try-hard South Park bullshit.
What is your take on this show?

Un-pc? What the fuck? White peoples act badly, especially when rich.

OP doesn't know what "primal" means and R1 is just the usual hater of coloratura.

I have plenty of evidence that rich people are cunts. I don't also need it in my entertainment.

It went too far in the first season with Paula (Brittany O'Grady). She thought that she could criticise and look down on the Mossbacher family simply because she was mixed-race, but she seemed fairly privileged herself.

My take was that it was a pretentious mess with an unsatisfactory ending because the characters weren't real people., they were caricatures of real people.

I didn't like the first season until about halfway through. The second was more consistent, but it was obviously written as a reaction to the first one's surprise success.
I'm curious to see where the third goes.

R4 she was also a terrible actress in a very solid cast.

I like what Mike White did with the Rachel character. With lesser writing, she would be a talented journalist who is getting screwed over by the system and decides to reclaim her life and career at the end. In actuality, she's a fairly poor journalist. Embraces her stereotypical bombshell image as a "fuck you" to snarky college girls. Just when she looks like she wants a divorce, she decides to finally sell out and embrace her trophy wife status.

The consistent theme is that people imagine themselves to be good. But when their actual interests are at stake, they stick with their tribe - which is often a tribe of one.

Please post the male nudity gay sex scenes on here. All I can afford is Tubi.

What’s the name the brown, Hispanic actor in the second season?

Theo James was as brown as it gets. Unless you mean Michael Imperioli?

Meghann Fahy was fantastic in the second season. With subtle glances, micro-expressions, and perfectly timed pauses, she conveyed an inner world brimming with longing, doubt, and quiet sadness. I wasn’t familiar with her work before White Lotus and am excited to see more from her.

R8 - Rachel was a very well written character & Alex Daddario stepped up to the role.

This is an odd thing to say but - the two little Italian best friend prostitutes were adorable in season two.

I really enjoy that the show is written by Mel White’s son. He was such a cowardly, closeted, shady asshole… it’s nice to see his bisexual son doesn’t hold back.

Too much Jennifer Coolidge. I hope she isn't i the 3rd season.

R19, he reversed course and came out in the 90s, standing against the religious right. From your link:
[quote] After years of writing for the Christian right, he came out as gay in 1994 and devoted himself full-time to minister to lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people, also writing extensively on the subject of gay Christians.
Not exactly cowardly, closeted, or shady.

He peddled the evangelical agenda for years before that. Anyone who was buddy-buddy with Falwell and Billy Graham is shit in my opinion. I also thought he was a speechwriter for Reagan?
It’s nice that he got to come out of the closet in the 90’s and yeah, he might have done some penance. I was in college when that happened, just coming out myself and remember being struck by the hypocrisy of White’s situation. It was the first time I’d heard of such a thing happening and I guess it’s just stuck with me the longest (and harshest).

I loved the first season, watched it twice, although it took about 2 episodes to get going for me. Loved the entire cast and shocked that none of them, except for perhaps Sydney Sweeney (and of course, Jennifer C), seemed to breakout into more high-profile projects. Happy to see adorable Fred Hechinger in Thelma, that cute film with June Squibb and now in Gladiator II.
I enjoyed the second season a bit less. It seemed to take even longer to get going and I also think it suffered from having too many characters and too much Jennifer C campiness. But still, lots of fun.
I can't wait for the third season.

Too much Jennifer Coolidge? Who won deserved universal acclaim and Emmy's for both seasons. You could watch something else

I thought the first season was diverting enough and the second season was kind of terrible. Aubrey Plaza was wasted and from his recent, terrific performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain, so was Will Sharpe.
Seemed silly that have a sex worker in a hotel, much less in Italy, was meant to be so titillating. It was child’s play, really.

Jennifer Coolidge is best in small doses.

I preferred Season 2. I think the variety of sexual politics explored was better dramatised than the white privilege in Season 1.

The Rachel character is extremely realistic. I think the entire series is too realistic for certain parts of the audience expecting a ton of plot or eat-the-rich fantasies.
I read an interview with Alexandra Daddario from a website called mensjournal.com and she might be the only cast member who truly understands the point of this show - or maybe it was just the way she put it? A DLer from a thread predating that interview had a very similar take. Makes me question if Daddario visits this place.
