NYC stabbing spree leaves 3 dead. Police take suspect into custody.

NEW YORK -- A suspect is in custody following random stabbings in New York City on Monday morning that left three people dead, police said.

Police said a 51-year-old man, identified as Ramon Rivera, was apprehended following the third attack and his been charged with three counts of murder.

"Three innocent New Yorkers who [were] going about their lives were the victims of a terrible, terrible assault," Mayor Eric Adams said. "It is a clear, clear example of a criminal justice system and a mental health system that continues to fail New Yorkers, and it is troubling that we are standing here today, in a day that brings a great level of difficulty to the city. Three New Yorkers, unprovoked attacks that left us searching for answers on how something like this could happen."

He started acting the fool in Chelsea at 8 in the morning and worked his way east to the Bellevue area

by Anonymousreply 1November 19, 2024 2:05 AM

Yikes.

by Anonymousreply 2November 19, 2024 2:20 AM

I was headed to Buon Italia shortly thereafter …I saw the crime scene from 10th Ave.

“Chelsea Club” mentioned is not a club; it’s just the name of a condo building.

Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, teens are murdering people.

Over the last decade or so NYC policy is basically to no longer keep anybody under custody regardless of their previous criminal acts, violent incidents or psychotic behavior. It's a revolving door of taking them in, holding them for a few days and then releasing them into the wilds of the streets to fend for themselves.

by Anonymousreply 7November 19, 2024 2:26 AM

I recognize that guy from the subway, R4.

by Anonymousreply 8November 19, 2024 2:28 AM

Maybe Pittsburgh should adopt that policy, balloon snout at r7 — maybe then its crime will decline to NYC levels.

by Anonymousreply 9November 19, 2024 2:30 AM

West coast here.

Balloon snout? I'm trying...

by Anonymousreply 10November 19, 2024 2:59 AM

= Defacto

by Anonymousreply 11November 19, 2024 3:09 AM

So is the construction worker he stabbed just a lame white guy? They go out of their way to mention the Black (capital B) female and Asian male, but nothing about the other guy, I guess it doesn't matter.

by Anonymousreply 12November 19, 2024 3:35 AM

FFS three people were stabbed to death in Manhattan. The crime in the city is nuts. This is a serious problem but you virtue-signaling fucks can only care about not offending anyone and pretending like NYC crime isn't happening. A woman was raped by two teenagers around the corner from my office building last month. I see fights on the street all the time and several people I know have been attacked or nearly attacked by batshit homeless people. Take your self-righteousness and shove it up your asses.

by Anonymousreply 13November 19, 2024 3:48 AM

[quote] Defacto, he appears to be white. You’re off your game.

White people don’t have nappy hair but you tried.

by Anonymousreply 14November 19, 2024 3:51 AM

Ramon Rivera is certainly a white bread name though, huh?

by Anonymousreply 15November 19, 2024 3:54 AM

New Yorkers of all races are united in their fear of the crazies who walk among us.,

[Quote] The crime in the city is nuts.

This thread is mostly Defacto talking to himself. The funny thing is, he’s posting this all from a city with a much higher crime rate than nyc.

So, let's not worry about all the crazy people walking around New York and the random unprovoked attacks or the subway crime which led the governor to have the National Guard deployed

by Anonymousreply 18November 19, 2024 4:15 AM

Keep downplaying the crime in NY and by the next Presidential election it will be a purple state.

Why don’t you worry about your own city, ugly, which has a higher crime rate? We all know the answer to that, including you.

by Anonymousreply 21November 19, 2024 4:27 AM

By the way, fat snout, do you know what a “rate” is? Because you seem to be mentally retarded and unable to grasp it. Let us know. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 22November 19, 2024 4:28 AM

Is defacto also ? And can't you not fucking say a man's name? That's really a bizarre one, and stupidly retarded. Is he the one who stalks people? It gets tiring indeed.

by Anonymousreply 23November 19, 2024 4:33 AM

[quote] Rivera, a homeless man with an extensive criminal record and reported mental health ailments

Why is he out and about?

by Anonymousreply 24November 19, 2024 4:42 AM

r17 I can assure you I'm not your boogeyman Defacto, whoever he is. I work in Midtown and live on the UES and also CT. The crime in NYC is fucking nuts, and it's a concern for all of us. You never saw this level of crime in the 90s and 00s.

by Anonymousreply 25November 19, 2024 4:56 AM

I don't know why some of you retards can't admit that crime in NYC has really gone up. And it's blacks and Latinos who are doing it. That's fucking reality. Do any of you even live in the city?

by Anonymousreply 26November 19, 2024 4:57 AM

We do, unlike you, the real retard in this convo.

People aren’t taking the bait, you lose.

by Anonymousreply 27November 19, 2024 5:07 AM

r27 crime is a serious problem, the street crime and harrassment is getting worse and worse. I guess you don't leave your apartment or have any friends or coworkers.

I don't know why you're all so defensive about crime in NYC. It's real. It happens. But none of you who allegedly live here don't want to have a conversation.

by Anonymousreply 28November 19, 2024 5:11 AM

Go to Reddit if you want a real, honest conversation about crime in NYC by NYers. There are a lot of unpleasant truths that the delicate hothouse flowers of DL can't abide.

by Anonymousreply 29November 19, 2024 5:12 AM

I suppose three might technically be a “spree,” but it’s a pretty feeble effort.

by Anonymousreply 30November 19, 2024 5:16 AM

[quote] I don't know why you're all so defensive about crime in NYC. It's real. It happens. But none of you who allegedly live here don't want to have a conversation.

It has always happened. But right now it is happening less than in the past, and less than in most major cities, so it seems kind of dubious to focus on it obsessively

by Anonymousreply 31November 19, 2024 5:19 AM

r31 compared to what the crime rate in NYC has been since the 90s, this is alarming. It's a huge uptick. And it's happening in the "nice" neighborhoods of Manhattan that haven't seen crime like this since the 80s. Who the fuck gets stabbed on fucking 19th St., E. 30th St. and 42nd and 1st.? WTF? People are angry and also paranoid right now.

by Anonymousreply 32November 19, 2024 5:22 AM

r31 the violent crime in American cities is appalling compared to every other city in every other First World Western nation.

by Anonymousreply 33November 19, 2024 5:23 AM

R5 is all over this thread talking to himself.

by Anonymousreply 34November 19, 2024 5:23 AM

Maybe violent homeless need to be put down or locked up for good. Putting them back on the streets is crazy.

by Anonymousreply 35November 19, 2024 5:26 AM

r34 that poster is obsessed with Defacto and is also the anti-Semitic "Zionist" troll.

by Anonymousreply 36November 19, 2024 5:27 AM

BUMP

by Anonymousreply 37November 19, 2024 10:23 PM

Fun fact -- the murder of three people is considered a "mass murder." It's become so commonplace, apparently, that for a New Yorker to even care about it invites mockery. But yeah, sure, crime's down, way down.

Most American cities are liberal and run by Democrats.

The suburbs/rural areas tend to be conservative.

Another example of why the "No Bail, No Jail" policy doesn't work. Signed into law by then Governor Cuomo who was forced to resign for sexual harassment and now thinks he should run for mayor of New York City.

by Anonymousreply 46November 27, 2024 8:22 PM

The suspect appeared in court on Wednesday and was given supervised release despite the alleged violent crime.

MTA leaders and union heads say this is yet another example of the dangers MTA workers face each day.

Shevaughn Legall, 25, left Brooklyn Criminal Court with his legal aid attorney and made no attempt to explain it, but MTA officials are outraged.
