Yeah. Listening to this right now while preparing for work.
Here’s the thing…
If Donald Trump, his “advisors” and now, MSNBC are all authentically on the path to some sort of reunification of a politically, culturally & socially splintered country, then why choose the clown cabinet that has been placed before us?
How in the fuck does Matt Gaetz as AG, or Gabbard as top dog of DNI, give us a clear signal that this time, it will be different or better than the first time?
Trump has one of the rarest and unique opportunities of all time in all of our history, to create a legacy in whatever manner he deems fit, and these people are his top picks???
Want to go out on top, then stop immediately with this fucking clown show and bring forward nominations of serious and experienced people who aren’t spending their weekends committing statutory rape of teeny boppers, or who have ZERO experience/qualifications to run our national security apparatus.
This time, he most definitely knows better & this is how it all begins?
It’s ALL up to him. He is a top notch showman and can sell ice cubes to Eskimos, so now let’s see if he’s actually interested in running this show like a top notch president, instead of surrounding himself with idiots & religious lunatics who want to infringe upon the civil liberties of every American citizen who he is now responsible for.
So far? Not off to a good start and he’s no dummy and knows this.

by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 18, 2024 4:42 PM |
I can see what Mika and Joe were trying to do here, but it won't work. Whether you term it as "extending an olive branch" or "kissing the ring," all that matters (to J&M) is that Trump received them. They think they can reach through the fog and connect in some meaningful way with Herr Trumpler, I hate to break it to them: their effort is futile. He's at the stage of the game where he think's he's invincible, has the backing of armed thugs and supplicants willing to do whatever he demands, and is about to seize the most powerful office — for the time being — in the world.
I don't know what it's going to take for the media to finally see Trump for the authoritarian dictator that he wants to be. The only thing stopping him at this point is us. We almost did. This was no blow-out election, no tsunami or even a margin that would confer a mandate on the incoming administration. Trump received less than half (barely) of the votes cast (and while trying to avoid conspiracy theory-land here, there is reason to question the numbers) to about a point and a half more than his opponent.
Since the election, the right has been furiously trying to put the idea that they are the overwhelming majority in this nation into everyone's heads. They are not. They are barely half of the people who voted, and more eligible voters didn't vote than voted for either candidate. The point is that they are not invincible, they have no mandate, and their grip on power relies on an electorate willing to go along.
We can turn the tide, but it's going to take tremendous effort. The Democrats must find a leader who can rally the troops, form a plan, and execute on it. The good news is that we've seen this scenario play out over and over. The Republicans will burst onto the scene, act like they're taking command, and then do a whole slough of things that will turn off the American people. The Democrats must be ready to capitalize on it (like the way that the Republicans capitalized on Biden's age: unrelenting attacks, constant criticism, and most importantly, making the opposition think that Trump is a tin pot dictator so out of his league it's harming [bold]them.[/bold]). His economic policies, such as they are, are going to crash the economy. Their culture war policies are going to cause a great deal of pain and even death for Democrats and Republicans alike. And ultimately, we never know what crisis is coming, but Democrats must get in array and be ready to pounce when the moment arrives.
And that's not to say that Democrats can't incubate problems for Trump. I applaud Biden authorizing Ukraine to use US-supplied weaponry deep into Russia. With any luck, they'll find Putin and kill him, which would derail Trump 2,0 long enough for the Democrats to put meaningful barriers to his progress, or at the very minimum, drive a wedge between Putin and Trump. Trump needs Putin more than Putin needs Trump (at this point, Trump has served his purpose to Putin and is now only around because he's a useful idiot), but that can change quickly. The last thing we need is formalization of a Putin-Trump alliance. We must stop that from happening.
Joe and Mika can't see, won't see, or worst-case, are willing to help with any of this. They are useless. Ignore them unless it looks like they're helping, and then they must be taken off the air .

NYT: Trump Mocks Mika Brzezinski; Says She Was ‘Bleeding Badly From a Face-Lift’
The president described Ms. Brzezinski as “low I.Q. Crazy Mika” and claimed in a series of Twitter posts that she had been “bleeding badly from a face-lift” during a social gathering at Mr. Trump’s resort in Florida around New Year’s Eve. The White House did not explain what had prompted the outburst, but a spokeswoman said Ms. Brzezinski deserved a rebuke because of her show’s harsh stance on Mr. Trump.

[quote]There were more registered GOP than Dems before the election.
Indeed, R54. The Republicans went on a registration binge that completely eluded the Democrats. Which is not to say that there was [italic]a lot[/italic] that eluded the Democrats in this cycle, not the least of which is that nearly every rural county in the the country, including those in blue states, increasingly went for Trump. He tapped into the mindset in which rural Americans feel they've been left behind and worse, looked down upon by urban elites.
[quote]the Dems got their asses kicked big time
We live in a bifurcated country with a fucked up method of electing a president. This election was not a mandate, and when it comes down to the final numbers, It was pretty close. In a nation of ~340 million, if Democrats could have found about 275,000 votes spread across 6 battleground states, we would have won. We lost somewhere between 2 and 3 million who voted for Biden in 2020. And yet there was support there; in North Carolina, for instance, Democrats swept the state from governor to attorney general... but they split ticket voted for Trump. Pennsylvania is so close we're still counting the ballots to determine whether or not Bob Casey goes back to DC or if they'll send another buffoon... but Trump won. I could say the same for the rest of the swing states. When it's this close, a few votes (like one or two in every rural county in the swing states) can sway the entire election.
Democrats must sit up and take notice of the GOP registration efforts that did not stop with the election. They think they've turned PA red, and they are not setting their sites on New Jersey. If Democrats don't do something, they'll succeed. And if they hold PA and flip NJ, it's over. We won't see another Democrat POTUS elected in our lifetimes.
Nevertheless, despite registering millions of voters, more people who were qualified to vote (not necessarily registered but simply of age/eligible) didn't vote at all than voted for either candidate. There is a tremendous pool of potential voters that are up for grabs, and while Republicans have a plan, Democrats are still trying to figure out why Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters stayed home.
I'm not ready to give in. There is a shit storm headed our way. Democrats can weep, mourn and spend a couple months analyzing our loss, but it would be better for a leader to emerge, take charge, and turn the ship around. That won't be Kamala, Joe, Nancy, Chuck or any of the old guard. And to cut to the chase, it had better be a straight white 45 to 65-year-old man because the bottom line is that Republicans were able to spin a booming tent pole economy holding up the entire planet's economy with one major flaw — inflation — into what Trump voters called "the worst recession in 50 years". All it took was putting a Black liberal woman at the top of the ticket, tar her with trans bullshit, and sew enough doubt. And the diarrhea icing on that shit cake was that she was not vetted through a primary process thanks to Joe Biden's stubborn refusal to honor his commitment to be a one-term transitional president. What a costly, and sadly, legacy-destroying mistake.
We live in a deeply racist, deeply misogynist country and no matter how hard we want it to evolve, we must recognize that it isn't going to change rapidly enough that we will elect a woman, let alone a Black woman, to the presidency in the lifetime of anyone reading this post.

[quote] We live in a bifurcated country
It certainly seems like the country is in two parts, although the reality is that there is a spectrum. There are extremists and hyper-partisans on both the left and right end, and a range of people between them. The MJ show may lose the hyper-partisans on the left, but maybe MSNBC hopes to pickup people in the center to replace them. However, I don’t think they can pick up more moderate and independent viewers, because the show’s reputation is so fixed in everyone’s mind.

They are important enough to have just like trump has, constantly running threads on DL.

The best Scarborough can do to defend this is "my friends who have my phone number think I did the right thing!"

R96 she doesn’t come across as phony to me. She just doesn’t. And I hope you aren’t being hyperbolic which many of you do on here. Criticizing someone per policy is not the same as bashing them. Let me see the receipts.

I agree with R107. R96 has no idea what they’re talking about.

Never watching them again. I shall miss Eugene Robinson, whom I love so much.

Nicolle “I can’t stop laughing” Wallace will instantly be a Republican again as soon as Trump leaves office.

'Time for a New Approach' I no longer watch Morning Joe that is my new approach.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | November 19, 2024 8:22 PM |
That just isn’t true, R110. But feel free to keep posting your opinion.

The Republican Party no longer exists. It’s all MAGA now.

And Stella d’Oros aren't what they used to be either.

I want to know who is keeping all the receipts that someone keeps asking about in various threads?
by Anonymous | reply 115 | November 19, 2024 9:26 PM |
Joe, Mika, Nicolle, Kornacki can all go straight to Hell.

No Words…

New? Haven’t they always slavered over him?

Massive ratings drop after visit to kiss Trump's ass revealed:

R107, she was on television all the time foaming at the mouth over Obama. She did a 180 the minute she got MSNBC. You simply didn’t see her before. No way she’s genuine.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | November 20, 2024 11:27 AM |
^ are you willing to wager?
by Anonymous | reply 121 | November 20, 2024 12:27 PM |
R120, Nobody's obligated to kiss obama ass anymore than they're obligated to kiss trumps
Stop worshiping politicians that dont know or care that you exist

According to an article on Daily Beast (which we can't link to), the backlash is the problem, not bowing and scraping to Trump.

I stopped watching MJ. I believe they will regret this and hope they do but like trump-they will shamelessly repeat they did the right thing in kissing the ring.

I realized Mika was a spoiled/damaged person years ago but gave her the benefit of the doubt. Now she’s just self seeking and controlling after becoming famous. Look to see her having tea with Melania soon.

R120 I’m familiar with her. She was a fucking republican. She worked on the McCain campaign and didn’t vote because of Sarah Palin. Like I said, I’ve never seen her bash him in a way not related to policy. And I’m not saying I agree with all her positions. So again show me the fucking receipts.

This event has already fallen off the radar. Joe and Mika thrilled- I won’t forget.

They worship power.

No it hasn’t, R127.
