Jim Gaffigan Dropped 50 Pounds Using Weight-Loss Drug Mounjaro:

Jim Gaffigan isn't ashamed to admit he jumped on the weight-loss medication bandwagon.

In a new interview, the comedian revealed that when the scale hit 270 pounds last year, he decided to start taking Mounjaro, a prescription drug like Ozempic that treats type 2 diabetes.

Good for him.

by Anonymousreply 1November 16, 2024 9:26 AM

i really applaud any celebrity who admits they are taking this to help them with weight loss.

there's no need to be ashamed or be a poser and pretend it was "diet/exercise."

stop with the shame.

by Anonymousreply 2November 16, 2024 9:34 AM

^^obese/overweight. NOT celebs that just want to get that much skinnier.

people that need to lose weight to be healthier, not just slimmer.

by Anonymousreply 3November 16, 2024 9:37 AM

I have been taking Mounjaro/Zepbiound (same drug, tirzepatide) for over a year now and have lost 50 pounds. I feel great, and the numbers (A1C, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.) are much improved.

The fretting over weight loss drugs reminds of when texting capability first came out, before smart phones. People were like “who in the world would want to type out what you have to say when you can just easily call?” I think MadTV even had a whole skit about it. Now look at us.

So, he's opted for a life of injecting dope into his body... if he stops he gains all of the weight back - right?

by Anonymousreply 6November 16, 2024 10:40 AM

I am for it. 2/3 of American people are obese..this is the solution.

He said he would exercise twice a day in his youth and he doesn't have the time or energy to loiter in the gym all day long. This caused him to gain a significant amount of weight.

by Anonymousreply 7November 16, 2024 10:46 AM

I think that more than "talented," the word for him is "persistent," but all the same... good for him for not trying to hide his use of the drug.

He was overweight and consistently so for ages, if it worked for him, great. Why fault him for using it or saying that he did?

by Anonymousreply 8November 16, 2024 12:01 PM

Good for him, not sure if he’s better looking because of it though

by Anonymousreply 9November 16, 2024 12:12 PM

I wonder why it seems that male celebrities don't seem to have so many hangups about admitting using Mounjaro/Wegovy/Ozempic as opposed to female celebrities? Adam Lambert admitted it as well. There are a few others I'm not recalling offhand as well.

It's truly a head-scratcher to me. Why would women have a problem saying that they needed help, and these drugs were what they needed for that help? Kelly Clarkson refuses to name the drug that helped her, but does admit she used a drug that helped her body process sugar in the right way. Rebel Wilson lost a ton of weight and insisted it was diet/exercise. Same with Adele.

On the other end of the spectrum are the ones that didn't really need it: Katy Perry is in bobblehead territory. Jessica Simpson, Kelly Osbourne also getting way too skinny and Kate Beckinsale as well. These are people that didn't need it.

by Anonymousreply 10November 16, 2024 12:13 PM

R10 Kelly Osbourne was FAT, she needed it.

by Anonymousreply 11November 16, 2024 1:01 PM

R11 You can lose weight, but you can’t change ____ .

by Anonymousreply 12November 16, 2024 1:22 PM

He looks great. To me, he'll always be the bf who took a dump in front of Miranda on SATC.

by Anonymousreply 13November 16, 2024 2:18 PM

Nobody wants his Hot Pocket

by Anonymousreply 14November 16, 2024 2:24 PM

I swear by Mounjaro. It saved my life. 120 lbs gone

by Anonymousreply 15November 16, 2024 2:39 PM

R15 are you on a maintenance dose now? I worry about gaining it back (40lbs down, 10 to go)..

by Anonymousreply 16November 16, 2024 3:19 PM

"Good for him, not sure if he’s better looking because of it though."

He has a wife and 5 billion kids. Literally no one cares if he's "better looking".

by Anonymousreply 17November 16, 2024 4:37 PM

R16 I am on a low dose -I have 10 lbs to go

by Anonymousreply 18November 16, 2024 7:58 PM

R6, just like people taking blood pressure medicine, or insulin, or any of a host of other medications that improve the quality of life (or life itself).

by Anonymousreply 19November 16, 2024 8:09 PM

m'mmm, I think the jury and longterm science is still out when ot comes to the longterm use of these drugs for WEIGHT LOSS. Yes, they seem to help with diabetes, but for weight loss? We'll see in the next five years.

by Anonymousreply 20November 16, 2024 8:32 PM

They’ve been used for weight loss (off-label) for years, R20

by Anonymousreply 21November 16, 2024 8:51 PM

[quote] So, he's opted for a life of injecting dope into his body... if he stops he gains all of the weight back - right?

And young women opt to fill their bodies with contraceptive pills for decades. If they go off it before menopause, they’re at risk of pregnancy again.

by Anonymousreply 22November 26, 2024 2:14 AM

Does it help with belly fat loss? I cant seem to find anything that says that.

by Anonymousreply 23November 26, 2024 2:17 AM

I understand belly fat is exactly what these medication targets! A godsend for diabetics, pre-diabetics and the vain!

by Anonymousreply 24November 26, 2024 2:21 AM

He looks great. Happy for him.

by Anonymousreply 25November 26, 2024 2:25 AM

I have an obese friend who is still waiting to see if there are any deadly side effects. It's like dude, you're practically housebound- wouldn't you try anything?

by Anonymousreply 26November 26, 2024 2:25 AM

I've said it before and I'll say it again - There is something fundamentally wrong with our healthcare system. People with a lot of money can access drugs like these for purely cosmetic purposes, while some of us battling diabetes are denied access by our health insurance companies, which refuse to cover them. My doctors have tried prescribing every drug in this class, and insurance has denied them all. I can't afford the full (or even the discounted) price so I'm out of luck.

by Anonymousreply 27November 26, 2024 4:06 AM

SO IS HE A TRUMPER OR NOT?

by Anonymousreply 28November 26, 2024 4:40 AM

He looks like he’s lost more than 50 pounds.

More like 80.

by Anonymousreply 29November 27, 2024 4:51 AM

Mounjaro sounds like a mountain.
