Are Samantha Morton and Emma Watson different people?
I saw an ad for the Dune TV series and I thought, oh that’s the one from The Serpent Queen, but then I saw her interview in New York Magazine and she was talking about Dune, and Breaking the Waves, but not TSQ.
SO had a Google and it turns out Samantha Morton is the one in TSQ. But is that just another way to say Emma Watson? Aren’t they in fact the same person?

Wasn't Samantha Morton much older and more unpleasant?

Samantha Morton is not Emily Watson, who starred in Breaking the Waves and Gosford Park.
She is definitely not Emma Watson, who was Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies and Little Women (Saoirse's version).
She is also not Samantha Mathis, who never played Hermione Granger but was in Little Women (Winona's version).

Samantha Morton is also not Martha Plimpton, though there was a time in their careers that they resembled each other...

Nevertheless, wasn't MORTON pretty horrible to people, coworkers and all, and only smartened up after dealing with Cruise in Minority Report?

Emily Watson and Samantha Morton emerged at approximately the same time (late '90s) to much acclaim, Watson for Breaking the Waves and Morton for Sweet and Lowdown. Both were leads in some high end prestige projects at the time, Hilary and Jackie, In America. It was presumed that they would replace Emma Thompson as the go-to Brit leading lady in Hollywood, but it didn't really happen. Kate Winslet took that on for most of the 2000s, while Keira Knightley took over Winslet's place as THE ingenue of the decade. Both Watson and Morton have reemerged on this side of the pond over the past few years as character actors (both are very talented) and Watson will probably get an Oscar nom for Supporting for Small Things Like Theses...

Watson deserved the Oscar for Breaking the Waves.

Watson is a neighbour of mine (SE London, DL stalkers). She's lovely. A cinematographer friend has worked with Morton and every tale he tells about her suggests she's severely mentally ill. Great actress, but crazy.

She's a very religious Catholic and has had serious health issues. I just remember her from Elizabeth getting fucked by the Duke of Norfolk, Christopher Eccleston when he's arrested after her betrayal.
