The damage Biden caused for Kamala wasn’t just optics

Even as Biden’s most vicious online defenders dogpiled on anyone who questioned his fitness, his own campaign was so poorly run that it couldn’t attract top talent, with inexperienced people being put into senior roles.

And for all we know, by last spring Kamala might’ve been settling into plans to be able to move on to other non-WH political positions or next career trajectories—and then her Bozo boss fucks up in the first presidential debate and suddenly all the party’s and WH’s attention and pressure are on HER to FIX it all. Under the circumstances, maybe she tried just as best as she could.

Mamm, this is a Arby's.

Ah that explains a lot. I just watched James Carville’s video on what went wrong. He was critical of the Biden people and I kept wondering how they were so inept when they were in place for months. If only she had 200 days and her own team of people :(

There was an article in the SF Chronicle last year asking her to come home and run for governor if Biden lost or she decided not to run with him this year. I figured that was her plan for when he lost. Governor and then maybe another run in 28 or 32.

In some ways I wish she had lost by more. She actually came very close to him. 100,000 votes would have tilted the swing states her way and she’d be President elect now. After the electrifying DNC and the masterful debate, she deserved the blue wall and she’ll probably always wonder what she could have done to get a few thousand more votes there.

But after listening to Carville and reading this I feel like she outperformed at everything she was asked to do. But she was let down by a bad staff and an impossible time frame.

I shudder to think what that staff was going to do if Biden stayed in the race! Biden’s DNC speech was terrible. He’d mutter then shout and it went on for an age. He would have messed up 3 debates and given the mumble-shout speech at small rallies. All while his team seriously misunderstood the enemy. I think Kamala saved 3 Senate seats and kept the House tight.

And I can’t wait for the book!

For all the “poor us” going on, I cannot understand the amount of people who simply failed to understand how bad a job Biden was doing. You have these same people saying “How can anyone clearly see Trump is not fit for office?” while telling us that Biden was. It’s not even that his campaign thought he was going to win, they knew he was going to lose IN A LANDSLIDE and they did not do anything because they liked their jobs!

That includes Harris, who should have been aware how badly Biden’s campaign was going.

He’s a delusional, narcissistic piece of shit. He never should’ve announced he was running in the first place.

But why did so many Democrats not only enable him, but try to stop the people who were trying to warn them, and accuse them of being spies, Russians or saboteurs?

Biden is responsible for buttressing his power by utilizing Trumpist tactics to silence anyone who questioned his ability.

In other words, a cult leader.

Well he was not going anywhere the first time until the blacks said they would not vote for anyone else unless it was Biden. From that point on, it was either embrace him or lose the black vote which would be fatal. Democrats were hostage to the black vote as a block.

I can't see black people having voted for whichever middle-aged white guy that the Democrat machine wanted to replace VP with, either.

by Anonymousreply 8November 11, 2024 12:15 PM

Pete would have been great and not middle age, but he got tar and feathered early on from the black community just because he fired a crooked chief of police. No good dead goes unpunished. Calling his a racist to mask the real reason, they were not way the would ever vote for a gay white male. I mean, have they ever?

What they really need to do for next time is bring in someone like Rick Wilson and the Lincoln Project, who will have a “when they go low, kick ‘em in the balls” approach to campaigning.

by Anonymousreply 10November 11, 2024 12:41 PM

But who would that be R10? Is there any Gov or politician that you could name?

The problem was that Biden supporters rightly looked at his achievements as successes and wrongly believed they would persuade voters. They thought the infrastructure bill’s real but not especially visible benefits would be popular. They thought building American industry would secure votes.

But people take this for granted and they don’t care if they are either struggling or worrying about struggling. And it’s the perennial theme of Republicans, as stated by John Dickinson in 1776:

[quote] But don't forget that most men with nothing would rather protect the possibility of becoming rich than face the reality of being poor

And Donald Trump played that like an expert.

For years Biden was exhibiting signs of serious decline both physically and mentally. Shame on the sycophants who fed his delusion of wellbeing

by Anonymousreply 14November 11, 2024 2:24 PM

The election proves that Democrats cannot solely rely on black votes. Even if democrats get all the black votes, they can still lose the election. Meanwhile, whites , latinos and other ethnicities could unite and isolate democrats and black voters.
