Fear of scrutiny emanates strongly

by Anonymousreply 2November 10, 2024 9:26 PM

Good. Maybe we can get someone like Chas W. Freeman past the Zionist pay slaves this time

by Anonymousreply 3November 10, 2024 9:29 PM

I'm surprised he spelled RECESS correctly.

by Anonymousreply 4November 10, 2024 9:31 PM

He doesn’t write these.

by Anonymousreply 5November 10, 2024 9:36 PM

Another reason why basic iq people like Trump is because he addresses things that need to be addressed. He just does it in a duplicitous and self serving way. It should not take 2 years and all the fucking Congressional drama to fill government positions.

by Anonymousreply 6November 10, 2024 9:40 PM

Sen. Rick Scott, who is vying for the majority leader position, quickly shared Trump’s post and added, “100% agree. I will do whatever it takes to get your nominations through as quickly as possible.” Fellow Floridian, Sen. Marco Rubio, has already endorsed Scott for the role. Trump has not yet endorsed his choice.

Here in Canada, I just read he plans to pardon the January 6 rioters.

Oh hell, NO!!! 😡

Republicans control the Senate 53-47. Any nomination that can’t be approved by THAT Senate probably shouldn’t be approved. The recess appointments clause was written in the 18th century when a recess could last many months. It’s not meant to bypass the Senate’s Authority to advise and consent.

Bunch of toadies.

by Anonymousreply 9November 10, 2024 9:45 PM

Recess appointments are already a thing without Senate approval. What the fuck is he talking about?

by Anonymousreply 10November 10, 2024 9:49 PM

They’re going to hit the ground running like Bush did. God help us.

by Anonymousreply 11November 10, 2024 9:49 PM

[quote]Trump has not yet endorsed his choice.

There are still a shitload of checks that need to clear.

by Anonymousreply 12November 10, 2024 9:50 PM

And so it begins...

by Anonymousreply 13November 10, 2024 9:56 PM

But everyone’s going to be rich, right? Right?

by Anonymousreply 14November 10, 2024 9:56 PM

The Senate gets to decide when it is “in recess” and when it is simply not in session, r10.

by Anonymousreply 15November 10, 2024 9:57 PM

Musk and Trump are trying to take the US in the direction of oligarchy.

by Anonymousreply 16November 11, 2024 2:53 AM

Trump's first Executive Order should be year round "Daylight Saving Time." Sunshine Protection Act passed Senate in 2022. House doesn't think it's a priority.

by Anonymousreply 17November 11, 2024 3:06 AM

That, R17, would prove to be as immediately unpopular in practice as it was when it was (briefly) implemented 50 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 18November 11, 2024 3:18 AM

I’ve been hearing talk of Trump relying on acting Secretaries, as he did in his first administration. But I thought that only was applicable to those who had already received Senate approval for a sub-Cabinet position in the particular department.

by Anonymousreply 19November 11, 2024 3:21 AM

I was waiting for this, and I'll tell you why. In this instance, DeSatan is the role model for Trump. DeSatan was handed a completely Republican Florida Congress and they rubber-stamp anything he proposes. And horrible things have happened to Florida ever since.

Hold on tight, 'cause you ain't seen nothin' yet.

by Anonymousreply 20November 11, 2024 3:24 AM

I don’t see the Florida example as very reassuring, as the state has only gotten redder & redder under DeSantis.

by Anonymousreply 21November 11, 2024 3:29 AM

Are you high, R21? It wasn't supposed to be "reassuring" -- it was supposed to be a warning.

I'd heed it if I were you.

by Anonymousreply 22November 11, 2024 3:31 AM

In other words, don't even question the whores and grifters he's about to appoint. Just let whatever cunt or asshole slithers into the cabinet get there, and start looting the place for Trump.

Concerned yet, Susan Collins?

No shit.

by Anonymousreply 24November 11, 2024 3:39 AM

He wants to get rid of Shady and replace him with Elon ASAP.

by Anonymousreply 25November 11, 2024 3:41 AM

This is bold, really bold. This is Charles I announcing he intends to rule without parliament.

We should take this very seriously, especially as the opening move. I thought he'd do a lot of shit before something like this, but he's not even pretending to be a constitutional president already.

by Anonymousreply 26November 11, 2024 4:06 AM

Would love to be a fly on the wall when Biden hosts Turd in the Oval Office on Wednesday.

Butch please. He’ll give away the store alluding to some ridiculous commitment to continuity and tradition when he should be booby-trapping the entire government to explode in Trump’s face. The James Buchanan of the 21st century.

by Anonymousreply 29November 11, 2024 9:24 AM

He still doesn’t know how the government works

by Anonymousreply 30November 11, 2024 11:08 AM

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in 2014, regarding certain Obama recess appointments, that Congress is in session when it says it's in session, and since Congress was technically in session when Obama attempted to make recess appointments, his specific appointments were "unconstitutional". If Congress would agree to recess, which is what Trump is actually asking for, then there is no issue with him making recess appointments.

by Anonymousreply 31November 11, 2024 1:25 PM

lol, r24.

Since November 6th, at least for me, there is no longer any such thing as having a stake in the outcome of the political maneuvering and votes counting within the federal houses of the US Congress based upon the outcome of an election.

It's done. Over. Trumpers were given the permission slip to do whatever they want to with unfettered power. The stakes are gone to see "what happens".

The last thing I'm nominally interested in is what the Democrats are going to do.

What do they have THE BALLS to do, with the clock ticking until Jan 3rd when the new Seante is sworn-in.

I'm a huge fan of Hakeem Jeffries. He's always interesting to me (Ok, he makes me have impure thoughts). So, I might tune in once in a while to see how he maneuvers the Dem caucus.

After that, I'll live with my lumps as a defeated Democrat, keep my head down, and certainly will not watch Donald Trump raise his right hand, put the other one on of his $60 bibles, and then falsely utter another US Presidential Oath of Office.

Then we'll see if Musk's Starlink is taking addresses and names of everybody who refused to watch the Inauguration. Ok, that last sentence is me deliberately exaggerating, but still....we're talking about people who want to invade the private medical decisions of women.

So, is that really out of the realm of possibility?

by Anonymousreply 32November 11, 2024 1:54 PM

r28 I get those vibes of Musk. I think he's evil.

by Anonymousreply 33November 11, 2024 3:22 PM

r24 You say no shit but there are a surprising number of people who don't get these and need to have it pointed out to them- the hypocrisy and double standards of those who up until last week were screaming out of touch Liberal elite, deep state fix etc shouldn't go unchallenged.

by Anonymousreply 34November 11, 2024 3:26 PM

They were challenged, unsuccessfully.

On the flip side: Biden et al. suddenly stopped calling out “fascism” and are welcoming Trump with full respect, because “democracy.” Well, which is it? A touch of hypocrisy to go all around.

by Anonymousreply 35November 11, 2024 3:30 PM

r35 Debate and discussion doesn't go into suspended animation until the next election. People's are quite free to continue to point out and argue whatever they wish whenever they want. To state they were challenged unsuccessfully kinda implies there's a point when challenge just stops and no one should raise a heckle even when something is obviously very wrong. Not in a democracy. Yes hypocrisy isn't the exclusive domain of one party.
