I have a small business and about 40% of my products are made in China.

Should I buy a bunch of extra stuff and stick it storage?

by Anonymousreply 13November 10, 2024 9:15 PM

Didn’t you sort of answer your own question by asking the question in the first place?

by Anonymousreply 1November 10, 2024 7:41 PM

Of course you should. But then again we all know this business doesn’t truly exist.

You should seek proper advice from a financial expert and educate yourself from well-known and credible sources of information OP.

Probably yes. Trump said the highest tariffs will be on Chinese imports which you as the importer pay - not the Chinese exporter.

by Anonymousreply 3November 10, 2024 7:44 PM

What kind of business is it OP?

by Anonymousreply 4November 10, 2024 7:45 PM

Is it really your product if it is made thousands of miles away in China?

by Anonymousreply 5November 10, 2024 7:45 PM

I worry for the future of your business, not because of tariffs, but because you think DL is the place to come to for advice.

Storage costs money too. Why not pass the Tarif along to the consumer in by charging much more. Is they won't buy it, then you have to change you business plan. Send a tank you letter to MAGA voters and trump for ruining your business.

I suggest american grown heirloom fruits and vegetables made into high energy bars. We will need energy to fight in the coming civil war.

I was going to wait til spring to get a new iPhone. Maybe I should get it now?

by Anonymousreply 8November 10, 2024 7:53 PM

OP I'd suggest looking to see if those products can be sourced elsewhere - Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan etc etc depending on what you're having made. All will be fairly competitive with China prices now, and many other companies have moved production out of China now

Pet supplies. I've always prided myself on carrying a lot of American products (and died inside when I pointed it out to Teabaggers turned MAGATs who went so far as to say "I don't care, I hope they burn it all down" when one of theirs wasn't in the head office) but most collars, leashes and toys are Chinese. We opened up during the melamine recalls, so no Chinese food or treats ever.

Op, law enforcement coming.

by Anonymousreply 11November 10, 2024 8:05 PM

R9 he’s said he wants to place tariffs on practically every country, not just China.

However we’re talking about Trump here: it’s all bluster and BS and in reality there won’t be new tariffs, or if there are they’ll be on items that are already tariffed (e.g electric cars). Do you really think the Walton family is going to sit back and watch their business get taxed into oblivion?

by Anonymousreply 12November 10, 2024 8:12 PM

What kind of stuff do you sell---so many things are made elsewhere these days that I rarely see something made in China.
