Will Democrats finally stop using celebrities for endorsements now?
And can the public quit demanding that dumb celebrities endorse politicians? What they did to Taylor Swift and idiots like Chappell Roan was insane. The Left was on the edge of its seat waiting for Miss Swift to make an endorsement. Are you fucking kidding me?
The majority of Americans don’t want to be lectured to by pampered brats who are barely literate. George Clooney can fuck right off.
There may be a tiny silver lining to come out of all this crap - Hollywood finally shutting the hell up. They don’t help anyone. If you’re interested in politics, run. Demanding the likes of Beyonce to give a politician her backing is batshit insane. This wasn’t lost on Americans.

I agree 100%. People don’t need to be told who to vote for by celebs.

The GOP had celebrities too—Hulk Hogan, Zachary Levi, etc.
It worked for them

The Democrats for better or worse will always need Hollywood. They'll continue with celebrity endorsements in 2028 but it won't be as condescending and in your face.

Swift inspired a lot of her followers to register to vote. They should’ve done it anyway but whatever it takes.

Once again OP and his ilk hold Democrats to a different standard than Republicans.
Much was made of the endorsements of trump by current NFL player Nick Bosa and former Packers QB Brett Favre. Trump and the Republicans milked that for all it was worth.
Where was OP when this was going on, besides having his/her/its head it their ass?

I can’t think of one famous current celebrity that endorsed him. Certainly no one on the level of Swift, Beyoncé, JLo etc. Hulk Hogan and some retired football players aren’t on that level.

Why should celebrities shut up about which candidate they support when the GOP told people they should vote for their celebrity candidate?
And people gave Swift shit because she paints herself as an ally, yet she withheld her endorsement of the only candidate who is supportive of women and POC and gay people until after the debate. Chappell Roan got a lot of shit because she’s a gay woman who said ‘bUt ThEy BoTh SuCk!’ and saying her maga family members are just really great people. Only one side is going to come for the rights of you and other marginalized groups, so miss me with that ‘both sides’ bullshit. Anyone who engaged in it is a fucking moron, plain and simple. She deserved whatever blowback she got.

Ahhh STFU OP - you've been banging on about this in threads for weeks.
Let it go - all parties have used celebrities of all kinds. It's not going to stop - they are public figures.
Move on and let it go - it had nothing to do with the election result.

The fact that Democrats live and breathe through Hollywood through the land of make believe is just one of their many problems. They honestly believe that if you start putting black people into every film, tv show, and commercial, you’ve solved racism. The party gets nothing done. They’re as useless as Republicans. The only thing going for them is that they don’t make things worse. Democrats are just completely removed from reality and have the elitist ivory tower label pinned on them and rightfully so. Americans are done with Hollywood and Democrats need to wake up.

R11, so only people who are running for office should give endorsements?
I may be wrong, but I don’t believe celebrity endorsements had much, if any, negative effect on the outcome. I find it hard to believe that anyone who supported Dem policies saw a celebrity’s Harris endorsement and said ‘You know what? That annoys me so much that now I’m gonna vote for the felon and rapist who said he wants to be a dictator. Now rape victims will be forced to give birth to their rapist’s babies. Fuck you for telling me what to do, Beyonce!’
Anyone who ended up voting for trump was ALWAYS going to vote for trump. Taylor Swift or Oprah didn’t push them to do it. I know we’re all trying to make sense of this absolutely fucking disastrous outcome, and I think there are several factors that played into it, but I’m telling you, I don’t think this is it.

[quote] so only people who are running for office should give endorsements?
Yes, and organizations. Endorsements are made by people in politics. They also made by those dropping out of races who wish to send their supporters to another candidate. It was never about celebrities. No one gives two shits about celebrities. The public is sick of them. The majority of them have very little education.

R16, if you think the public is sick of celebrities then you have no concept of what fuels, and will continue to fuel, much of popular entertainment.
If celebs want to endorse or support a candidate, that's their business, not yours.

Elon Musk is the most followed person in the world on social media.
Joe Rogan has 18.1 million subscribers.
They're pretty big.

Taylor Swift is actually brilliant because she didn’t actually officially endorse. She simply said she was voting for Kamala and suggested that people become informed and go register to vote. That’s how it should be done.

You can't honestly believe that the Democratic party thinks this at all, or even pushed for Hollywood films to add more Black actors to their films. This is a stupid take.

R20 Most conservative cunts reduce everything to the lowest common denominator. Black actors in black Hollywood pushed mainstream Hollywood to be more inclusive. Shit had nothing to do with the Democratic Party.

Celebrity endorsements are a bit like political advertising - people will swear they aren't influenced by them, but they are. Certainly not as much as their values and beliefs, and what their family and friends think about a campaign, but they still have some impact.
There's a reason that Fox & co fall over themselves to complain about celebrities talking politics then totally change their tune when a celebrity comes out for their side. These things make a difference.

I always thought Oprah did more harm to Stacey Abrams than good. And Clooney - what a joke. A party boy from NKU who has smirked his way to the top, advising Obama. Yes stay in your lane. Gaga's last minute support for Kamala was more about p.r. for Gaga, whose latest movie bomb and singles bomb have left her an industry joke.
