The 2024 Election was Stolen: Hear Me Out

In an election as pivotal and Democracy-altering as this one, The Democratic Party owes the American people to fight passionately to ensure the results were fair. It is reasonable request to do a #handrecount of one of the key swing states, to make sure that the results match the Election Day reports, and to ensure the voting machines' code has not been tampered with.

We won't be the other side, shouting "rigged election" despite having no proof, and we won't content that #TrumpCheated—if an investigation refutes that. But Kamala Harris, Tim Walz and her campaign, tens of thousands of tireless volunteers, a record number of first-time voters, the women of this country, and the tens of millions who voted Blue, deserve the smallest efforts to ensure that the numbers are correct.

We cannot let America be ceded to those who will dismantle it without assuring it was the will of the majority. A secure election can withstand scrutiny and a blameless party won't prevent that scrutiny.

I was just remembering some October surprise-type story was supposed to come out about Trump. We then heard they would wait 'til after the election, after Trump lost, so that it couldn't be blamed for affecting the race.

I'm thinking it was the story of how they faked the assassination attempt at Butler.

I'm glad they're still looking into the election. MAGA was given access to these machines purposefully after 2020. Do you think there's any coincidence that a hidden backdoor password was found? Maybe election security will be the issue that brings the two parties together. With nationwide voter id and other measures, we can ensure that all future elections are honest and secure.

Nobody is stopping anyone from investigating any allegations or irregularities or other attempts at manipulating the results. If credible evidence exists, they should be out there gathering proof right now, but even if they did find out that the outcome was tainted, Donald Trump will still take office in January. They could find a tape of Trump saying, "I rigged it, the whole damn thing" and nothing would change. He can't be disgraced more than he already is. If he was somehow shamed into resigning, which is about as likely as him showing empathy to anybody other than himself, we still get President J.D. Vance, a MAGA Congress and a conservative Supreme Court.

This election has altered my opinion of our country permanently. I can't believe, but will have to accept, that so many Americans would ever vote for a man who basically ran on hate, division and concepts of a plan (aka, no real plan/policies). A man who was just as crude and shameful during his first term in office as he still is today. A man who told us all the unconstitutional actions he'd do if elected for another four years and given 'approval' to do as he pleases. A corrupt felon leading a World superpower. Its disgusting. I can't leave and have to suffer along with everybody else who knew what a Trump win meant for the country.

Democrats were at a disadvantage from the start in a situation like this. There's just not the number of batshit crazy, conspiracy theory-loving, "deep state is at work" lunatics infiltrating the party like the madness the GOP has descended into. There will be no "stop the steal" protest with Democratic Party supporters storming the Capitol in a failed attempt to interrupt the electoral process and risk arrest, life and limb for the candidate they voted for after she encouraged them to "take back your country."

If this is still being investigated, well. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

If there is clear evidence of rigging it'll come out.

Looking back, sorry but we were stupid this time to be so optimistic. Put on your 8th grade science class hat. 2016, Trump does 3.5% better than the polling industry thought he would. They didn't reach enough Trump voters. 2020, same exact thing happens again, Trump does 4% better than the polling industry thought he would. Now again in 2024, Trump does 3-4% better than the polling industry thought he would. Rinse and repeat and rinse and repeat.

R24, good point if that is indeed what happened. Did the polling companies alter their originally-accurate results by 3 pts in favor of Harris, or did they just not accurately poll the American electorate?

Odd that they'd steal the presidential election yet leave themselves so little breathing in the House.

For this to happen, there has to be even a shred of evidence. Otherwise it is all conjecture

R22 OR - the polling numbers in 2016 were right all along. Putin rigged the 2016 election giving Trump the win by a mere 800,000 votes across 3 swing states. Many people on DL believed this is what happened. Yes, Jill Stein swindled money and started a recount in 3 states, but the process was never finished. We never saw the results.

Then, because they got away with it, they have continued to get away with it. AND perfected their methods. Mail-in voting was so overwhelming in 2020 it was able to overcome the ballot machines' tampering.

In 2024, they figured out the way of rigging mail-in as well. The math doesn't add up!

Russian state media has been absolutely delirious with glee since Trump's election.

The whole goal for the Heritage Foundation and Russia is to get Trump back into the White House regardless of what goes on in the Congress. Notice that they're not freaking out over the calling of some very close races, riling up the MAGAt base to storm the counting of those ballots. It doesn't matter to them when you consider the "unitary executive theory" in which the president has superpowers that they'll assert. It's going to take our breath away how far and wide he's going to reach.

At this point, even concrete and voluminous evidence of widespread voter fraud won't alter the outcome. The SCOTUS would put that to a stop within hours of any indictment.

Ultimately, between the coordinated bomb threats, voter/voting disinformation, and technical manipulation (there was only one state where Kamala did as well as Biden four years ago, which not coincidentally is the one state that does everything on paper), they achieved a plurality of the vote.

Our last chance to stop him was an overwhelming victory on November 5 after the failures of the Congress, the courts, the Republican party, and two (one bogus, one an inflated property incursion, but to 49.9% of voters, are real) assassination attempts. We lost.

Trump will be president on January 20.
