America's Institutions Will Stand
America's institutions will stand firm! Institutions are not Olympian demigods, but are people. Over the past decade, these people have stood up for what is right. With Trump's reelection, many think Trump will ruin America. He might try, but our institutions will stand.
The Federal Reserve is strong. Jerome Powell (a Trump appointee) has proven himself as a formidable foe against presidential overreach. In 2018, Trump tried to demand he cut interest rates. Powell did not heed. Powell's term as Chair expires in 2026, but his governorship ends in 2028. Powell is not going anywhere. Powell also made clear he will not go quietly if Trump tries to fire him. Only one other governor's term expires in 2026. Even then, he will have to get senate confirmation. During his last term, the senate blocked several of his picks, fearing presidential cajoling.
The Supreme Court is strong, too. Alito and Thomas are the most likely retirees during this Administration. I highly doubt Roberts will allow someone like Trump to name his successor. Trump appointed three vastly different justices. Gorsuch is a libertarian, Kavanaugh and Barrett have proven they are willing to work across the aisle. If Alito retires, Trump will replace him with an Alito-protege. No love is lost. Unless something catastrophic happens, I doubt a liberal justice will retire or die.
The Defense and Justice Departments are also strong. Trump fired Jim Mattis and Jeff Sessions because they were not doing his bidding. He replaced them with what he thought would be more malleable figures, Mark Esper and Bill Barr. When everything fell apart, Esper, Barr, and the generals stood up for what was right and just. Even if they did not, I can see career officials resigning in protest. The last thing Trump wants is a Saturday Night Massacre.
Maybe I am too hopeful, but I need to have something to look forward to.

WOW. Just wow.
If this is what gets you through the day, good for you, but everything will be burned to the ground. Read the lates speech by the Federalist guy. Literally used burning it all down as his theme. He sucks Trumpies dick.

Yes, strong Trump Cult, which will of course continue if as you say, Trump replaces either Thomas or Alito with even more Trumpish cult members.

Oh honey, you are so very naive. While I appreciate your attempt at glossing up the situation, you are only fooling yourself. The corporations will thrive, of course, and so will rich white Christians. But you? You will be very disappointed when the rosy hope you're clinging to evaporates.

In a twisted way, what might hurt us in some ways but save us in others is that several of the billionaire class want America's consumer confidence to remain strong. They have a lot of influence in TrumpWorld. And they want us feeling able to buy shit, and doing so. That can't happen if the shit hits the fan. This is why the "tariffs!" that Trump has barked about, will never get close to happening.
That said, though, this could truly be a nightmare for the most vulnerable among us. If I were transgender or if I were a lawn-mowing immigrant here illegally and trying to subsist, I would be deservedly freaked out.

The Fed is cutting them now OP and watch inflation rise. When Trump gets into office Powell will cower and cringe under him and the investor class, and cut even more. He's a lap dog.
The Fed under Powell caused this inflation during Trump's term with quantitive easing aka free money to banks and business. Don't expect house prices to come down or your savings to earn any interest. Oh, but I thought it was the economy?!!??

R9 Powell will not cower to Trump or the investor class. He is pretty unflappable.
You are right. The economy, inflation, interest rates, labor, imports, and exports are all different things. But the average voter does not care. They want cheaper gas and groceries.

Alito and/or Thomas will retire, and Trump will appoint Aileen Cannon as a justice.
Yeah, that won't be a catastrophe at all.

Trump will not be appointing Cannon. I think he will appoint the first AAPI justice.

They’ve already failed, OP. Felonious Fatty is out of prison and was elected POTUS. The Cult controls all three branches of government, protected by a SCOTUS that has no regard for Stare Decisis, or the Rule of Law. We live in a fascist oligarchy.
