-- they were muscular, but not usually roided out

Not really, Pre-condom, a lot of them are dead. Condom era 1988 thru the 1990s and into the 2000s there was a restrained mechanical-ness to a lot of the sex. And the production values. We used to watch them by putting quarters into a machine in a video booth. We enjoyed that 70s cinéma vérité very much.

They were filmed in 16 mm or 35mm and if anyone has the original film it's probably GOOD resolution. Then when they switched to video, obviously the resolution tanked for many many years.
