Jim Parsons IS Eunice Hubbell!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 8, 2024 6:24 PM |
I thought it got the part of Blanche.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 8, 2024 6:30 PM |
I hope Blanche is some very old hag and Paul upchucks a bit in his throat every night to get through his scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 8, 2024 6:32 PM |
R5 we don’t know if the West End’s actresses will be brought to the Broadway show. They may wanna hire American Broadway stars to play opposite him.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 8, 2024 6:36 PM |
Is he bisexual like Marlon Brando?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 8, 2024 6:48 PM |
Saw it in London. Weird direction.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 8, 2024 6:53 PM |
This production may attract a recognizable American names for Blanche and Stella so no need to import the Brits.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 8, 2024 7:12 PM |
R10 I don’t even think they need big names for the two female roles. Paul Mescal is a big name himself. He will attract many people.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 8, 2024 7:16 PM |
Octavia Spencer at Stella
Dylan Mulvaney as Blanche
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 8, 2024 7:19 PM |
He looks like a homeless demented little troll.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 8, 2024 7:22 PM |
Here comes a Tony award for Paul. He’s gonna be a fierce and original Stanley in Streetcar!! He’ll probably go full frontal too.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 8, 2024 7:22 PM |
R14 there is no nudity.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 8, 2024 7:25 PM |
DL fave and mother of a trans child Jamie Lee Curtis as Stella.
Alok IS Blanche DuBois.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 8, 2024 7:29 PM |
Has Dylan Mulvaney had the chop?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 8, 2024 7:29 PM |
I think Marlon Brando was a pompous, major-league asshole, but Mr. Mescal, thems some pretty big acting shoes to step into. You sure you got the chops?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 8, 2024 7:32 PM |
R18 being that he already played the role, I’d say YES.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 8, 2024 7:33 PM |
Paul can hook up with Nicholas Chavez and certain DL eldergay heads will explode.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 8, 2024 7:37 PM |
Nicole Shitstirrer as the nurse!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 8, 2024 7:46 PM |
Andrew Scott for Blanche.
Jonathan Bailey for Stella.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 8, 2024 7:47 PM |
Also, the cast is nude.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 8, 2024 7:47 PM |
R11. True but high profile actors might be attracted to the project because of Paul. But, yes, his name alone will sell tickets.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 8, 2024 7:55 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 8, 2024 8:08 PM |
No British woman can play Blanche.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 8, 2024 8:27 PM |
R26 only one did. And she did amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 8, 2024 8:29 PM |
Dissapointed. I love Streetcar but I did not like the direction of this one. PM was great but I was not into the direction, both of the actors and of the play itself. I hoped we would get a Broadway/NYC Streetcar of its own.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 8, 2024 8:45 PM |
R15 there have been Streetcars in the past with FFM nudity..but not this one, I am sorry to say.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 8, 2024 8:47 PM |
"American’s" what, OP?
What possession of the one American should rejoice? His or her pet?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 8, 2024 8:47 PM |
Don’t be silly r17. He’s not that committed.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 8, 2024 10:27 PM |
An all male version set in a nudist colony was a crowd pleaser on Fire Island some years back. We were told there were high hopes for an off-Broadway production based on positive word of mouth 👄.

[quote][R26] only one did. And she did amazing.
Please, Vivien Leigh was not convincing as an American nor Southern Belle.
Too British, IMO.
She mainly gets praise from liberals who have a hard-on for Brits/Euros.
Not to mention, her acting was too stagey. Both here and in GONE WITH THE WIND.
Not surprisingly, she was mainly a London stage actress who made very few films.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 9, 2024 7:52 PM |
Whoever plays the other parts, no color blind casting PLEASE!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 9, 2024 7:59 PM |
I guess those unconvincing performances explain Leigh's two Oscars.
[quote]She mainly gets praise from liberals who have a hard-on for Brits/Euros.
Then logically it follows your man won on Tuesday. I'd say that pretty much rates your judgment.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 9, 2024 8:03 PM |
What’s the direction of this version? Is it modernized? I like Gillian Anderson’s turn at it a few years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 9, 2024 8:05 PM |
R33 good. I live 2 blocks from BAM
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 9, 2024 10:30 PM |
The West-Ends Stella and Blanche are reprising their roles
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 11, 2024 6:59 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 11, 2024 7:10 PM |
Blegh.

[quote]Paul Mescal as Stanley Kowalski is headed to Broadway!
Oh, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 11, 2024 8:04 PM |
Indian Stella
Unattractive Blanche
Weird, pretentious directing
PM is fine but I'll pass.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 11, 2024 8:51 PM |
Too young cast too.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 11, 2024 8:53 PM |
His face confuses me. How is he both so fug and so sexy all at the same time?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 11, 2024 9:02 PM |
What's a rejoice? I thought that was a verb.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 11, 2024 9:52 PM |
Do we need another revival of this?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 5, 2024 9:16 PM |
His face is confusing and the casting is confusing. I'm sorry but a Black Southern Belle in the 1940's? I just can't. Absurd, no matter how brilliant the acting.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 5, 2024 11:15 PM |
R49 who is black?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 6, 2024 1:13 AM |
Because the actress who plays Stella is brown but not BLACK.
So uneducated
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 6, 2024 1:15 AM |
That content warning ....eye roll fucking worthy.
From what I heard and saw its a terrible pretentious revival not worth my time. Mescal is hot, but thats about it.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 6, 2024 3:36 AM |
R49 black would at least make more sense, geographically speaking, than freaking INDIAN lol
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 6, 2024 3:39 AM |
I just opined in another thread that it’s a real shame we never got to see DL icon Carol Channing play Blanche DuBois.
So my vote is for a Carol Channing type. (The play’s so heavy it could use a lift like that.)
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 6, 2024 4:09 AM |
[quote] Omg it’s impossible to get tickets!!!
I went to the website and got in line to see what was still available. There were no tickets available for any performance.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 6, 2024 6:11 AM |
[quote]The West-Ends Stella and Blanche are reprising their roles
How is that possible?
Actors' Equity has been sleeping on the job lately.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 6, 2024 6:20 AM |
R53 yes but she is Indian. That poster claimed BLACK when she isn’t black. Gen Z is so fucking uneducated it’s actually scary
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 6, 2024 6:23 AM |
I can do color blind casting in most cases. A POC Stanley? Ok, sure. A non white Mitch? No problem. Blanche and Stella being poc? Awesome. But 2 fucking bio sisters being of separate races, meant to have grown up in the deep south of the 1920s and 30s is just excrutiatingly dumb. Especially when one of the races likely barely existed in that region at the time, like in this case.
