Your standing desk isn’t making you any healthier
From Wash Post so can't link
A large new study of more than 83,000 adults found that standing for more than two hours a day — as many people with standing desks do — didn’t protect against the cardiovascular risks of too much sitting.
Those hours of standing also turned out to have their own downsides, increasing people’s likelihood of developing serious circulatory problems, including varicose veins, abnormally low blood pressure and blood clots, compared with people who rarely stood.

Ask any old lady cashier about what standing in one spot all day does to you.
Of course it's another scam.

My cousin is a pharmacist and wants to quit from all the standing. Good money though.
Work from home (sitting/computer) and getting up for a 5 min stretch/move/dance break or a little housework every so often , seems like my best fit so far.

It's the same thing with steps. Once you hit 6,000 or so, you've plateaued the overall health benefit other than burning calories.
I think it was the Apple Watch that got us all pseudo-sciency about standing hours like pedometers did with steps. Article about this at link.

Adjustable height standing desks give you the option to spend part of the work day standing and part sitting; if you are tied to a desk, mixing sitting/standing is probably the best you can do for your body, or so a physiotherapist told me.

This was always a dumb assumption. Does anyone seriously think that someone working full time in retail, or as a flight attendant is any healthier than someone with a desk job?

I knew it. And after we spent tens of thousands of dollars turning executive desks into stand/sit. They are PITA for cabling desktop computers too. I'll be glad when this trend is over.

I never felt it was making me healthier, but you must admit that it's nice to have options besides sitting ALL DAMN DAY. I usually sit for two hours, stand for an hour, repeat. It's a welcome change.

I have an adjustable desk because I like to stretch my legs while I work sometimes. I don’t have any illusions about its health benefits.

I love them because I’m shorter than most and I can adjust my work surface to a good height.
My sewing setup makes me feel like Susan Dey at the organ - only I don’t have Lemon Ludes, an A-line mini dress, or white stockings.
