Trump II game plan?

Perhaps it's delusional, but I honestly feel shockingly calm and serene about all of this. Not shocked. Not angry. Not sad. Not glad. But what I want most now, though, is a calm, pragmatic, mature and wiser Democratic Party. I trust that there will be plenty of occasions where it's absolutely necessary to stand up and fight Trump and the magats, but it wont be every every time he opens his mouth. Screaming at level 100 volume for four years is just going to fatigue everyone. And we did that already anyway.

Considering the size of his win, battle-picking will be very important this go around. Unlike magats who will never acknowledge anything good Joe Biden or any other Democrat has ever done (even if they directly benefited), I think we should try a different tack. We don't need to abandon our own principles and beliefs, but some may need re-examining. Illegal immigration should be a slam dunk. No one except corporations and oligarchs want it. So why'd I just hear the governor of MA talking about how she'll interfere with any program to remove people here illegally? I'd bet Newsom is pondering something similar. This is stupid. Let pragmatism rule the day. Why be contrary for no reason? Who exactly are we going to be appealing to with that? Unless people are being forced into true concentration camps, trafficked, and/or killed, can the wailing. The fallout from the inevitable fuckups will benefit Democrats and everyone who isn't a bloodthirsty psychopath.

Yes as you point out so well if trump is a success and the American people are relative happy with his term the Dems will have absolutely no chance in 2028.

America may need Trumps term to be an outstanding success but the Democratic Party needs it to be a complete failure.

This is the day kids we learn how to spell —-American patriot :-)

They should pass that border bill that Trump already torpedoed. It was pretty conservative already and GQP only opposed it because Trump wanted that as a campaign issue. Just pass it now but Democrats would at least have the talking point that Trump was full of shit all along.

MAGA followers have to learn the hard way about what they have voted for... against their own interests. Dems will have to be tough on RFK jr if his ridiculous ideas over mainstream vaccines gains traction ( I cant see many in TRG circle really going for all that shite, but you never know). No one wants polio, diphtheria or measle outbreaks etc. Killing babies is not a good idea RFK you nut job.

Honestly, controlling all three branches is a political curse. It never ends well and always results in a brutal comeuppance come the midterms. It doesn’t last long and the payback is brutal.

He will overreach. And the price of a Big Mac will never go back down. And people - who expect instant solutions- will realize this sooner rather than later.

People with stock investments will be fine. The MAGATS who voted for him are screwed. And those Latinos who voted for him can say goodbye to grandma or that baby they assumed gave them citizenship.

He’s a lame duck with only two years to have any real impact. It will be ugly and messy but this will end sooner than later.

R2 a great suggestion for the gop in congress to come together and pass a border deal giving biden a giant good bye gift. The gop will no doubt see this as so much smarter than passing the same bill under a gop president,

1] I hope he is really in a final second term.

2] That in the next 4 years I do not get a knock on the door in the middle of the night.

Where has my America gone?

by Anonymousreply 6November 7, 2024 10:11 PM

R6 Are you an illegal? You’re not getting any knock on the door. Unless you’re hiding some other nefarious secrets.

Has everyone forgotten that he’s a pathological liar and breaks every promise he makes? Why are you suddenly believing him now?

I get the fear and despondency but use logic, not emotions right now.

by Anonymousreply 7November 7, 2024 10:50 PM

It would seem like it might take a major government expansion to get this done.

by Anonymousreply 8November 8, 2024 12:50 AM

You are a fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 9November 8, 2024 12:52 AM

r9 Sorry everyone isn't as frightened as you. You can't maintain this level of vigilance for four years, so stew for now but not too long.

by Anonymousreply 10November 8, 2024 1:00 AM

Did I hear correctly TFG has chosen Susie Wiles as his Chief of Staff. Is that a good thing?

by Anonymousreply 11November 8, 2024 2:09 AM

It was not that long ago Dems and DL talked about expanding the S court in order to make it more even dem vs gop . Would be funny if trump now did the same thing to make sure it will be remotely close to even,

by Anonymousreply 12November 8, 2024 2:09 AM

I’m surprisingly peaceful and serene myself. The GOP has it all now, so they fully own whatever success or failures they bring about. And the white hot anger they love to cling to is now laughable. Can’t play the downtrodden card when you rule the land.

I’ll still vote, but only for MY best interests. The ideals of fairness and democracy are no longer attainable, so everyone else is on their own too.

I love you all. This site keeps me sane.

by Anonymousreply 14November 8, 2024 3:17 AM

R13 you have any examples where you voted against your own interests before Trump?

by Anonymousreply 15November 8, 2024 11:56 AM

Maga is a grift.

There was no federal response to covid because it was busy, grifting.

This time? More grifting. On a larger scale and without restraint.

When can we expect to see that Trump has separated himself from his business interests?

by Anonymousreply 19November 8, 2024 4:55 PM

Calm before the storm. He's male followers are twisted bitter angry thugs. The MAGA youth is going to be unleashed soon. Read Herman history from 1933 on. Trump is part German.

by Anonymousreply 20November 8, 2024 4:58 PM

Lets see how Trump handles the next natural disaster. I hope he has his paper towels ready.

by Anonymousreply 21November 8, 2024 5:01 PM

“ twisted bitter angry”

Sounds like an ad for the DL.
