Let the people get what they voted for

I saw bring on Project 2025 and RFK Jr for HHS Secretary. Let Trump add as many SCOTUS judges that he can. Deport 15 million. Add tariffs to everything.

Dems don't need to block any one of his proposals.

Let the people experience everything Trump promised.

by Anonymousreply 331November 19, 2024 4:12 AM
Deport 15 million.

There is no possible way that "deporting 15 million" will not result in widespread, egregious, horrific human rights abuses. None.

by Anonymousreply 1November 6, 2024 7:34 PM

That's a feature, R1, not a bug. The people want to go medieval.

by Anonymousreply 2November 6, 2024 7:36 PM

Amen! Ban all vaccines, deregulate everything, let there be a Betlehem derailment every week. Don't give a fuck anymore.

by Anonymousreply 3November 6, 2024 7:37 PM

This will actually be the fastest way back for anti-Trumpers of both parties. Don’t mitigate or bail him out of his failures. For once in his life, let him suffer consequences for his actions.

by Anonymousreply 4November 6, 2024 7:53 PM

Right. Forget the Social Security you all spent most of your lives paying into you won't need it, you'll just literally work to death. The breeders will be forced to watch the children they were forced to bring into the world die of curable diseases that won't be prevented because of RFK because it's 'Gods will.' They deserve every bit of horror they'll get.

by Anonymousreply 5November 6, 2024 7:57 PM

Iron lungs! Shiny iron lungs for everyone!

by Anonymousreply 6November 6, 2024 7:59 PM
There is no possible way that "deporting 15 million" will not result in widespread, egregious, horrific human rights abuses. None.

And...

Lots of legal Latinos will get swept up in that. Sounds fun

by Anonymousreply 7November 6, 2024 8:31 PM

Who cares. They can go cry to Cruz or Rubio, for all I care.

by Anonymousreply 8November 6, 2024 8:34 PM

I wish he would be able to deport the illegals, but unfortunately he can’t.

by Anonymousreply 9November 6, 2024 8:42 PM

His Supreme Court will find a way to let him deport them.

by Anonymousreply 10November 6, 2024 8:46 PM

Yep. The KKKOURT said he had “immunity”, so he can round them all up and deport them, no problem.

And by the time the lawyers file their complaints, they’ll already be gone or dead.

by Anonymousreply 11November 6, 2024 8:47 PM

Nobody imagined the nazis could final solution 6 million Jews but they found a way, with basic technology and IBM counting machines. It shouldn't be complicated for Herr President Trump to use Elon Musk technology and AI to deport 20 million soi disant "illegals". Easy peasy. Of course, it will be abusive. But that's what people want.

by Anonymousreply 12November 6, 2024 8:49 PM

Bingo.

by Anonymousreply 13November 6, 2024 8:55 PM

Here here

by Anonymousreply 14November 6, 2024 9:11 PM

A whole bunch of people imagining the worst will stop short of including them.

by Anonymousreply 15November 6, 2024 9:13 PM

r15 I mean, it's a given they're coming after SSM on a federal level, plus the newly emboldened Supreme Court is going to reinstate sodomy laws as well.

by Anonymousreply 16November 6, 2024 9:17 PM

They will put the Social Security and Medicare fund into BitCoin and Mutual Funds. The .001% will take their massive cut and let this BitCoin brands fail and the Mutual Fund go bankrupt.

by Anonymousreply 17November 6, 2024 10:09 PM

One provision of Project 2025 is giving every h.s. student the military entrance exam. Hmm, wonder what they have in mind...?

by Anonymousreply 18November 6, 2024 10:20 PM

I had a radical thought,

Democrats need to not run Presidential candidates in 2028 (maybe even 2032). No cleaning up republicans mess anymore

Women want to be treated as chattel? Let them be pregnant, barefoot in the kitchen cowering in fear of their master’s anger.

Arrest all Latinos as possible illegals and throw them in detention camps. You need to prove you are legal to get out.

These group deserve no mercy

by Anonymousreply 19November 6, 2024 10:22 PM

I'm good with this. I especially look forward to millions of deplorables blissfully unaware of the hurricane about to strike and that they'll be left without FEMA help in the aftermath.

by Anonymousreply 20November 6, 2024 10:29 PM

Doesn’t get more MAGA than that!

by Anonymousreply 21November 6, 2024 10:30 PM

In thinking about where they’re going to put the millions of people they want to get rid of I’ve had an idea. The country is littered with huge failed shopping malls which can be easily converted to mass detention centers. Government contractors will be lining up for the work and once they’re done the Latinos who worked on the construction sites can be among the first residents.

Countdown to rampant outbreaks of preventable diseases

by Anonymousreply 23November 6, 2024 10:37 PM

You all are going to scare me out of leaving my house.

by Anonymousreply 24November 6, 2024 11:00 PM

I’m too depressed to leave the house. Which is worse?

by Anonymousreply 25November 6, 2024 11:02 PM

Stupidest country on earth.

by Anonymousreply 26November 6, 2024 11:04 PM

Let the bombs start, from anybody, just blow this shit up please. And you gloating Euro Brits are going to get it, trump is coming for you, as the USA goes, the whole world goes, have fun bitches!!!

by Anonymousreply 27November 6, 2024 11:07 PM

Agreed. Let them rip. Sit back and watch.

The broke-ass MAGATS are the ones that will suffer

by Anonymousreply 28November 6, 2024 11:09 PM

The problem I see with this plan is that ALL of us will suffer. Not just the trump supporters.

by Anonymousreply 29November 6, 2024 11:10 PM

Sadly, r29, you are correct.

Except WE understand that. Maggots don’t and they don’t CARE to. They just want to hurt people.

The idiots pour gasoline in their own house, set it alight, then stand in the living room think they will never get burned.

by Anonymousreply 30November 6, 2024 11:20 PM

They wanted Trump and they got him. Let them have all of his fucked up policies.

by Anonymousreply 31November 6, 2024 11:22 PM

I didn't think the leopards would eat MY face!

by Anonymousreply 32November 6, 2024 11:23 PM

Wait till trump starts his tariff war and idiot MAGATs suddenly discover all that cheap crap they buy costs more. In addition to the human rights violations of Trump's immigrant roundup, farmers and growers are going to have a hard time getting people to pick the crops. Crops will rot on the ground. If the farmers can get people at all, they'll have to pay them more, which will be passed on to consumers. Soon everything you buy at the grocery store will cost a lot more.

by Anonymousreply 33November 6, 2024 11:41 PM

Millennial and Gen Z Trumpers will probably change their tune once little Kaetelynne and Braxton start dying from smallpox.

I’m just scared about losing 50% of my 401k once his tariffs kick ion. Not to mention how hard it will be finding a girl to clean my house for less than $400 a pop once all the immigrants get the heave-ho.

by Anonymousreply 34November 6, 2024 11:51 PM
Not to mention how hard it will be finding a girl to clean my house for less than $400 a pop once all the immigrants get the heave-ho.

I guess you'll have to just clean the house yourself. Working-class white people have always done this.

by Anonymousreply 35November 7, 2024 12:07 AM

R34 Exactly. Think like them. It’s all about the money. Put it all in the market, which they will never let fail.

by Anonymousreply 36November 7, 2024 12:10 AM

When the Muslims get kicked out, we should buy the city of Dearborn and turn it into a monument to butt fucking. Statues, artwork, turn the community centers into bathhouses, halal restaurants into bars or restaurants that serve only pork, you name it.

by Anonymousreply 37November 7, 2024 12:58 AM

R22 They'll load them on to aircraft carriers and send them out to sea.

by Anonymousreply 38November 7, 2024 1:10 AM

Before I block this thread, I wanted to chime in that my partner feels the way many of you do. He want's it to all come crashing down on the country. We're older and we have money. He's like "let it burn. We can leave if we want."

by Anonymousreply 39November 7, 2024 1:14 AM

Charlie Kirk as Secretary of State

by Anonymousreply 40November 7, 2024 1:15 AM

Just practice this phrase and use it often and liberally when appropriate:

"I/WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!"

It'll take a while before shit happens, but when it does, don't be afraid to point to the folks that made this happen. Rehearse! Look in the mirror to learn how to scowl and smirk. Be prepared!

by Anonymousreply 41November 7, 2024 1:21 AM

You know what, OP? With the way I'm feeling tonight, I'm right there with you. Let them have the government and leaders they deserve. If you want an unchecked, unfiltered, big bad, macho man, have at it. I don't give a rat's ass about your plight any longer. Let your daughters die because they can't get the healthcare they need. Enjoy being profiled because of your race or ethnicity. Enjoy living on the street when social security runs dry. Oops, there goes your gender expression. And here comes the crazy clown car full of nutjob cabinet secretaries. But you enjoy that $2 dozen of eggs.

by Anonymousreply 42November 7, 2024 1:22 AM

The shit will start hitting the fan by March. Let it all burn down. This is what they wanted. This is what they will get.

by Anonymousreply 43November 7, 2024 1:23 AM

Eggs will be $5 a doz, r42. But, hey, at least they got to “own the libs”, right?

by Anonymousreply 44November 7, 2024 2:27 AM

Some of you are making this way too complex. They're only going to load a couple of tens of thousands of brown people up and ship them back from where they came from. At most.

The rest they'll traffic (if they're hot) or kill and dump in shallow graves (if they're fug or old).

by Anonymousreply 45November 7, 2024 2:38 AM

Soylent Green is Mexicans!

by Anonymousreply 46November 7, 2024 2:46 AM

Fuck. Them. All.

Bring on the catastrophic consequences, ASAP. It's the only way to eradicate the MAGA cancer and possibly flip both houses of Congress in 2026. It has to be done. Period.

by Anonymousreply 47November 7, 2024 2:52 AM

Those Muslims in Michigan telling people not to vote for Democrats because of fucking GAZA! A situation that isn’t even our problem.

I wonder if Zyklon B works on ragheads. I know it works on humans, but has it ever been tested on Muslims?

by Anonymousreply 48November 7, 2024 3:10 AM

R1, that is what they expect. Podcast bros what they chaos and destruction

by Anonymousreply 49November 7, 2024 3:18 AM

Got a text about protests getting planned for this weekend. Better get it done now cause after inauguration, wow, cops will come in hard. Only professional protesters post January, I would think. Will there be another pussy ear protest?

by Anonymousreply 50November 7, 2024 7:05 AM

I love you guys! This is my current mood too. I say start a war as that is good for industry (think of the profits!). All those 18-35 patriots can go grease the industrial wheels with their blood. Let the poor Walmart MAGAts die of starvation under tariff prices and runaway healthcare costs. Let the Boomers lose their SS and Medicare. Burn the motherfucker to the ground!

by Anonymousreply 51November 7, 2024 10:27 AM

The “people” voted to allow dump and friends to take away our civil rights-including this platform.

by Anonymousreply 52November 7, 2024 11:29 AM

I’m getting my flu & Covid shots today. I have to wonder if Medicare will continue to cover vaccines.

by Anonymousreply 53November 7, 2024 11:35 AM

What vaccines?

by Anonymousreply 54November 7, 2024 11:41 AM

Yes, let these mother fuckers get what they voted for. I agree, NO BAILOUT from Democrats. No Democrats bailing out Republican messes only to get blamed and lather, rise, repeat.

The pain we are about to go through will be immense. I truly hope all of those that voted for him suffer the consequences of their actions. They’ve unleashed hell on Earth and mark my words Europe will fall. China and Russia and Saudi Arabia and Iran will dominate. Handmaids Tale will look fun.

I know there are so many reading this post thinking all we’ve said is nonsense and none of it will be nearly as bad. No, it will be worse than even we can imagine. Our rights as gay people are gone. Our cozy way of life will be gone for a century.

All FOR WHAT? Racism and misogyny and homophobia. And many fuckers here voted for this. Well, you’ll wish a grease fire after this is over because that will be easy.

Seriously, voters have unleashed hell on Earth. Enjoy the consequences. This country needed a FIND OUT moment after FUCKING AROUND. Well, we got it.

OF COURSE they will blame Democrats (they were weak, they could have stopped this) neglecting their own role in this mess (not voting in midterms, voting R for down ballot races, constantly shitting on the party).

The chickens have come home!

Pottery Barn: You broke it, you buy it.

by Anonymousreply 56November 7, 2024 4:30 PM

Tom Nicholls in The Atlantic:

Americans who wish to stop Trump in this assault on the American constitutional order, then, should get it out of their heads that this election could have been won if only a better candidate had made a better pitch to a few thousand people in Pennsylvania. Biden, too old and tired to mount a proper campaign, likely would have lost worse than Harris; more to the point, there was nothing even a more invigorated Biden or a less, you know, female alternative could have offered. Racial grievances, dissatisfaction with life’s travails (including substance addiction and lack of education), and resentment toward the villainous elites in faraway cities cannot be placated by housing policy or interest-rate cuts.

No candidate can reason about facts and policies with voters who have no real interest in such things. They like the promises of social revenge that flow from Trump, the tough-guy rhetoric, the simplistic “I will fix it” solutions. And he’s interesting to them, because he supports and encourages their conspiracist beliefs. (I knew Harris was in trouble when I was in Pennsylvania last week for an event and a fairly well-off business owner, who was an ardent Trump supporter, told me that Michelle Obama had conspired with the Canadians to change the state’s vote tally in 2020. And that wasn’t even the weirdest part of the conversation.)

The bright spot in all this is that Trump and his coterie must now govern. The last time around, Trump was surrounded by a small group of moderately competent people, and these adults basically put baby bumpers and pool noodles on all the sharp edges of government. This time, Trump will rule with greater power but fewer excuses, and he—and his voters—will have to own the messes and outrages he is already planning to create.

Those voters expect that Trump will hurt others and not them. They will likely be unpleasantly surprised, much as they were in Trump’s first term. (He was, after all, voted out of office for a reason.) For the moment, some number of them have memory-holed that experience and are pretending that his vicious attacks on other Americans are just so much hot air.

Trump, unfortunately, means most of what he says. In this election, he has triggered the unfocused ire and unfounded grievances of millions of voters. Soon we will learn whether he can still trigger their decency—if there is any to be found.

by Anonymousreply 57November 7, 2024 4:48 PM

So true r57. Trump and his cabal must now govern. There are no more excuses, no more blaming others. It's going to be a shitshow.

by Anonymousreply 58November 7, 2024 4:59 PM

When Trumpco burns down the country, Elon and the reich wing media will find some way to blame it all on Democrats. And the lemmings will eat it up.

by Anonymousreply 59November 7, 2024 5:00 PM

Maybe, somehow, it will be brief. Maybe the awfulness will be so awful so fast it will threaten the GOP so badly in the midterms the swing back starts. If there are midterms.

by Anonymousreply 60November 7, 2024 5:05 PM

Of course. That’s the reason they voted for him in the FIRST PLACE, they’re lemmings.

by Anonymousreply 61November 7, 2024 5:05 PM

Can someone explain to me like I'm five why all of the podcasts and whatever radicalizing the youth are right-leaning? Where are the leftist equivalents? Why do we only have old fogey NPR?

by Anonymousreply 62November 7, 2024 5:07 PM

I agree with most of the remarks above. I am bracing myself for the hell that will be coming and the shock it will inflict on millions.

I am in my 60's and grew-up at a time when there was still a sense of patriotism for the USA. My eyes would tear when our class sang "My Country Tis of Thee" or when I heard "God Bless America". Even if someone was in the White House that our Democratic family hadn't voted for, we respected the Office. In fact, I eagerly enlisted in the Navy out of a sense of patriotism.

I hated the inaction of the US during the AIDS epidemic and as a result, spent decades working for non-profits committed to helping those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Having recently retired, I still donate 20 - 25 hours each week to charitable organizations and volunteer work. Financially, I am okay.

However, the maelstrom we will be swept away by, sooner rather than later, will forever obliterate life as we know it. It will be pure evil, and these are not the rantings of a "Mad queen". I know I can survive but for millions of others, it will bring ruin and while I have always felt I had a wealth of compassion for the less fortunate, part of me will relish what those who voted for Trump will have to face.

They'll try to point the finger of blame at Democrats or anyone but their own stupid choices, but the swift retribution they are faced with, is of their own making. They have helped to undermine nearly 250 years of Democracy and deserve the suffering that comes with their choice.

by Anonymousreply 63November 7, 2024 5:09 PM

Because the platforms and channels are controlled by billionaires, r62. The right wing crap gets amplified and pushed out to people. Leftist content exists, but in general you’re not going to consume it unless you actively seek it out.

by Anonymousreply 64November 7, 2024 5:13 PM

R62, a long time ago - like 2018 or so, some grad students asked themselves the same thing.

Why don’t democrats have these podcasters, YouTube shows, FB pages and the like?

They decided to start an FB page and go all “blueanon” as a social experiment.

What happened was their followers kept fact checking them with receipts. People called out their bullshit - even when it was something they should WANT TO HEAR.

Their conclusion was Democrats and liberals want FACTS. Repugs and nutters don’t care about facts and will believe something just because it fits into their worldview.

In other words, liberals are adults and can process negative information.

by Anonymousreply 65November 7, 2024 5:17 PM

Given Trump's age, his obesity and his horrible diet I wonder if he's even going to live to 2028.

by Anonymousreply 66November 7, 2024 5:25 PM

^ We've been saying that for years but he somehow managed to live on. Still, a stroke would be good news. 🙏

by Anonymousreply 67November 7, 2024 5:30 PM

He ain't getting any younger r67

by Anonymousreply 68November 7, 2024 5:37 PM

These asshole MAGAs are still clinging to an America that no longer exists and they refuse to accept that it's never coming back. They can't stand it and they refuse to move on.

by Anonymousreply 69November 7, 2024 5:44 PM

Unfortunately these people will never admit a mistake. It will somehow be the fault of liberals

by Anonymousreply 70November 7, 2024 5:48 PM

I wish Covid had killed off more MAGAts.

by Anonymousreply 71November 7, 2024 5:53 PM

Thank God I am old and rich and can afford private health care.

by Anonymousreply 72November 7, 2024 5:55 PM

Maybe JD wouldn’t be so bad. If trump kicks it maybe JD will go back to being anti trump and straighten up.

by Anonymousreply 73November 7, 2024 6:47 PM

^ Jaydine will do what Musk and Theil tell him to do. He won't act crazy and say nonsensical things on a daily basis, so there's that. But still just as bad as Trump policy wise.

by Anonymousreply 74November 7, 2024 6:48 PM

II have no doubt JD personally hates Trump. But JD wrote the forward to the Project 2025 guy's recent book - he's a true believer in that shit and that's what matters to him and that cabal of ghouls.

by Anonymousreply 75November 7, 2024 6:52 PM

r50, nope. the concensus is, we're done. fuck you (you being everyone else, not you of course)

by Anonymousreply 76November 7, 2024 7:45 PM

With the GOP poised to take over Congress, they will overreach very quickly. The midterms will allow the Dems to regain some power.

by Anonymousreply 77November 7, 2024 7:47 PM

Si.

They have two years…as happens in almost every midterm: the price will be paid in 2026.

Best of luck to them.

by Anonymousreply 78November 7, 2024 7:56 PM

If we take both the House and Senate in 2026, we could impeach him again. Except the Supreme Court says he has immunity. And we'd need 60 votes in the Senate to remove him.

by Anonymousreply 79November 7, 2024 8:00 PM

JD Vance believes in race science and is anti democracy. He is also a member of the most conservative sect of Catholicism - the same one as Mel Gibson. He is Commander Waterford in The Handmaid's Tale and I fear him much more than Trump.

He, Musk, Thiel, Sacks and others together?

That is the end of America as we know it.

by Anonymousreply 80November 7, 2024 8:02 PM

I hope we'll still be able to vote in 2026. 2028 I'm not so sure. Anyway I wish the fickle people in this cuntry would learn one easy lesson I've always practised - NEVER vote for any Republican. Period.

by Anonymousreply 81November 7, 2024 8:03 PM

He needs to be on home confinement to pay for his NY crimes.

by Anonymousreply 82November 7, 2024 8:16 PM

R80 don't forget Justice Amy Coney Barrett. 😱

by Anonymousreply 83November 7, 2024 8:17 PM

This is such a childish, moronic take.

by Anonymousreply 84November 7, 2024 8:19 PM

I agree with you, OP. At least I agree with you today. Sad fact is, we have no power now anyway. We won't be able to prevent their insanity. Wish there were. So let's get out of their way and let them self destruct. That happened in his first admin and it will be even quicker this time.

My expectations are so low that the only thing I hope for is that he doesn't get our country attacked by God knows who.

I'm the biggest optimist in the world, but I'm having a very difficult time finding any hope in this. Best chance for relief is that they turn on each other as they did on the House drama earlier this year and not get anything done but infighting.

His stupid tariffs will cause prices to skyrocket and drive us into a recession at best. Women will continue to lose their lives because of no access to health care. They'll ban abortion pills and they'll go after contraception next. They'll, at the very least, weaken NATO greatly. They kill/deport/injure migrants - even those here legally will be targets. They destroy our health care and scientific research agencies by allowing Kennedy to head them.

I still can't believe we lost and lost so badly. I take some comfort in what happened in the aftermath of Brexit. It was such a disaster, the Conservative Party has been decimated in the UK. Cold comfort but it's the best model I can think of for GOP self destruction.

by Anonymousreply 85November 7, 2024 8:30 PM

I'm R85 and I'd like to add something truly spiteful, but I think it will give me some small relief in typing it out here: I hope that every fucking person who voted for these monsters has a wife, daughter, or are a woman themselves who needs an abortion. And I hope each one of them dies.

I'm typically not a vindictive person, I am today and I truly hope they suffer greatly for their outlandish stupidity of electing these psychos.

Oh, also, since those in their 40s - 50s raced to the polls to vote for these assholes, they're going to love it when GOP guts social security for anyone under 55, which is exactly what they said they'll do when in power.

by Anonymousreply 86November 7, 2024 8:34 PM

Oh, and all the Michigan Muslims who voted for Trump, say goodbye to the Middle East. Trump is going to allow that other psycho Bibi to level it. He's already said so.

by Anonymousreply 87November 7, 2024 8:36 PM

I wrote the 3 posts above and just gotta say it's the first time I've felt any relief since the disaster of Tuesday. Thank God for DL. I'm going into a complete news detox for as long as I can. But I can never detox from DL. It's the only form of healthy toxicity. Thanks, guys. Really appreciate you.

by Anonymousreply 88November 7, 2024 8:39 PM

Bingo R87.

by Anonymousreply 89November 7, 2024 8:53 PM

Whatever Trump's penalty will be for his 34 felonies, the judge will suspend it.

by Anonymousreply 90November 7, 2024 10:01 PM

JD is not going to save us. Remember when we thought Ivanka would save us? Just hope a mob gets succeed on him like Trump ordered on Vance.

by Anonymousreply 91November 7, 2024 10:19 PM

R79 doesn’t know the difference between impeachment and conviction—neither will happen before Jan 2027

by Anonymousreply 92November 7, 2024 10:56 PM

R92 The House impeaches, the Senate convicts and removes/acquits. Fuck off, toots. My post was clear.

by Anonymousreply 93November 7, 2024 11:00 PM

So why wasn’t that in your first post? Obfuscation is not a positive attribute. 🖕🏼

by Anonymousreply 94November 7, 2024 11:07 PM

Your scolding is lame, toots. Come back when you've changed your tampon.

by Anonymousreply 95November 7, 2024 11:10 PM

r74 exactly. They've paid billions for this. They will get what they paid for.

by Anonymousreply 99November 8, 2024 12:09 AM
If we take both the House and Senate in 2026, we could impeach him again.

Before the election, I heard some Democratic pol say that the party had to limit their Senate losses this year to two to have any prospect of flipping the Senate in '26. That didn't happen. So the best we likely can hope for in '26 is to flip the House.

by Anonymousreply 100November 8, 2024 12:10 AM

Alex Jones is poor now and needs a job R97.

by Anonymousreply 101November 8, 2024 12:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 102November 8, 2024 12:25 AM

I wouldn't be anywhere near DC on Inauguration Day. I think it's going to be a lot of idiot MAGAs acting like assholes, celebrating their victory.

There isn’t going to be any election in ‘26. DonOLD has almost complete power now. Red states have already said, TX is the lab on this, to make it to where you cannot win statewide office, including president, without winning the majority of the counties.

And, like they did under W, they will gerrymander again next year (bet on it it happened before). Due to his increased power, they will gerrymander Blue states, too. The SC will allow it.

Democrats won’t be allowed into office. Honestly, I don’t want them to save us again. This country NEVER learns. Time and time again they’ve saved us ONLY TO GET BLAMED and Republicans grow even MORE radical as a result. No, let them cook in this hell they’re about to unleash on us. If it isn’t long enough they won’t learn.

White people- we fucking suck. We’ve allowed our GD racism, misogyny, and homophobia to ruin this nation time and time again.

I DGAF about Hispanics being deported. Byeeeeeeeee. They are turning more and more conservative, anti- LGBT, anti-women, more evangelical.

by Anonymousreply 104November 8, 2024 1:20 AM

In some ways, I agree with this. I think it's a good idea to let the Repugs hang themselves with their own rope. Let their radical right-wing plans emerge in plain sight, and see what happens. Let their Project 25 bullshit see the light of day. Americans need to see what the radical right wing is all about and how sociopathic their beliefs are. They were so worried about the radical left and "Antifa", when they should have been worried about right wing radicals.

With that said, I don't agree with the "let them suffer" attitude. We will also suffer. We need to help in the ways that we can help, locally. We can't change things on a federal level at this time, but we can continue to support what matters in our own cities and states.

by Anonymousreply 105November 8, 2024 1:40 AM

R105 We will all suffer no matter what. This is baked in. It’s happening. So, it needs to matter.

by Anonymousreply 106November 8, 2024 1:51 AM

I’m comforting myself with the memory of everything Trump tried to do that fell apart. Everyone he surrounded himself with either betrayed him or ended up in legal trouble.

I don’t want protests. What I do want is all the sane people to hold everything over MAGA voter’s heads. One of the biggest blowhards I know that voted Trump is extremely obese. Floorboard cracking, car struts sagging fat. When he can’t get health care - or can’t get the drugs he needs - won’t that be special?

The other Trump voter I know was scared of Covid and quit work before retirement age. She and her husband don’t do anything but watch Fox News and get scared of minorities. They won’t get the Covid vax but insist on getting a flu shot. Well, what now?

by Anonymousreply 107November 8, 2024 2:05 AM

I'm all for sitting back and watching when they get what they voted for.

by Anonymousreply 108November 8, 2024 2:21 AM

I was just sent my first Dem fundraising email, from "Nancy".

Felt great to unsubscribe.

I will need every penny after Trump instates the tariffs, "Nancy". Send those fundraising emails to Clooney and the crypto bros, since they run the show anyway, doll.

by Anonymousreply 109November 8, 2024 2:22 AM

You are also people, OP.

You’re like when the media trashes the media. You are the media.

Everything that happens won’t only be happening to MAGA.

by Anonymousreply 110November 8, 2024 2:26 AM
They won’t get the Covid vax but insist on getting a flu shot. Well, what now?

Huh?

by Anonymousreply 111November 8, 2024 2:27 AM

It’s karma for Trump as well because his biggest fight will be against his own rapidly declining mind and body while having to meet and negotiate with other leaders in the harsh glare of the international spotlight. He could have lived a comfortable, luxurious retirement safe from prosecution in Russia or the UAE, but instead he’s created his own hell on earth by assuming office again.

by Anonymousreply 112November 8, 2024 2:32 AM

I’m certainly over this. No protests, no writing or calling. No more.

Fuck it. Time to take care of myself and stop giving a fuck about assholes who want us dead. Fuck them.

I’m in it for myself now.

by Anonymousreply 113November 8, 2024 2:40 AM

R113 same

by Anonymousreply 114November 8, 2024 2:45 AM

R107 agree! They will be drunk on hubris and self-destruct just like in the first term. They'll all be fighting for his favor and stabbing each other in the back because that's what he likes. And then he'll dismiss his loyal ass kissers at whim.

by Anonymousreply 115November 8, 2024 3:09 AM

When the economy crashes and inflation soars he will be firing people by the truckloads. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

by Anonymousreply 116November 8, 2024 3:13 AM

r115 I predict it's going to be even worse this time.

by Anonymousreply 117November 8, 2024 3:18 AM

I can wait for the inevitable explosion between Trump and Elon - one in Truth Social one on Twitter. It shall be glorious.

by Anonymousreply 118November 8, 2024 10:08 AM

Personally, I can't wait for the tariffs. I'm Canadian, and here the vast majority of Trump supporters are blue collar types who work in manufacturing steel, agriculture, forestry, oil and gas etc...I can't WAIT till their American orange god fucks them over. It'll suck for the rest of us, and there's nothing we can do about a decision made by Americans, but those members of the maple-maga brigade deserve all the pain they're going to get - mortgage foreclosures, vehicles repo'd, financial destruction....

by Anonymousreply 119November 8, 2024 2:17 PM

Oh, and I will vote in favor of anything that limits trans visibility, especially men competing against women, because they " identify" as a woman. Also, any liberal claptrap about pronouns, DEI, etc. will get my down vote. Kids and old and disabled will get my support. Everybody else can fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 120November 8, 2024 2:20 PM

Trump probably ordered Epstein's execution. He would do the same for Elon.

by Anonymousreply 121November 8, 2024 2:36 PM

My brother's wife is Canadian and they relocated back here to the US a few years ago. I thought she'd be liberal but she's a true cult member. Both her and my brother are Trumpers but my brother is no where near as fanatical as her. She literally sits outside (their outdoor kitchen) doing bong hits, drinking beer and watching Fox hour after hour after work. First thing they do is turn on the Fox but my brother will come inside and watch regular movies and TV after awhile.

I just wonder if she'll have a meltdown if and when the economy goes tits up. My brother is still salvageable but how did a Canadian citizen get so brainwashed by the cult?

by Anonymousreply 122November 8, 2024 2:56 PM

Canadian here. We aren't monolithic, either. The lower your income and opportunities the more frustrated you are with the world right now. We do seem to have a national character that was once quite comfortable with the idea of the collective, but it's weakening. It's the same rot: people wonder whose side politicians are on - no matter who's in power. My cousins, who still live in the small town we grew up in, are all blaming the usual suspects for all that is wrong. And they have good, solid, safe lives: own their own homes, sufficient funds for retirement, safe communities, decent schools, no gun risk. It's not perfect but they have nothing to complain about compared to many other places. I take a much different view and am uncomfortable with what they have to say.

The smaller your world, the smaller your perspective. That's true in every country. The key differentiator is basically the national outlook on the idea we're all in this together. It's weakening here, though not dead entirely, I don't think. Not yet, anyway.

by Anonymousreply 123November 8, 2024 3:11 PM

I've heard that Alberta is the Alabama of Canada. The people there are pretty close to American white trash.

by Anonymousreply 124November 8, 2024 3:35 PM

r123 in Canada you don't have guns and Jesus freaks. I wish that were true of the US.

by Anonymousreply 125November 8, 2024 3:36 PM

Rural Alberta, yes, R124, the cities, not so much.

We do have guns, R125, but we also have gun control, and we don't have the same wild-west/gun bullshit culture as the US does.

by Anonymousreply 126November 8, 2024 3:39 PM

I don't think that's unfair, R124. Anything outside the urban centres in southern Ontario gets dicier the further north you go. I went to a gay campground up that way this summer and the further you went, the more FUCK Trudeau signs you saw. I remember thinking, that's what you want your kids to see? I mean, yes, Justin now annoys the fuck out of everybody except the most foolishly devoted, but the FUCK Trudeau signs just don't feel like us.

R125, not enough to change anything. Jesus freaks would outnumber gun nuts. I don't think we'll ever have a gun problem on the U.S. scale and the population is too diverse ethnically for Christian fundamentalism to gain prominence.

People will vote for the Conservatives in the next election I am pretty sure but I don't think they've changed that much. They're just really, really fucking frustrated for many of the same reasons U.S. voters are. But ultimately I think this is probably still more a Liberal government country than a Conservative government country. They used to call the Liberals the natural governing party. The Conservatives always feel to me like the party we elect to punish them and send them off to have a think. From where I sit, it's the reverse in the U.S.

by Anonymousreply 127November 8, 2024 3:42 PM

My brother was really surprised when he saw confederate flags on trucks and "muddin'" events in Canada. Plenty of white trash up there apparently.

by Anonymousreply 128November 8, 2024 3:44 PM

Canadians have tended to cluster in big cities. There is sprawl, but not as rampant as the US because they simply don't have the labor to support such a giant infrastructure.

by Anonymousreply 129November 8, 2024 3:44 PM

R129, tee-hee! Soon neither will the US!

by Anonymousreply 130November 8, 2024 5:08 PM

R120, demonizing DEI and trans people won't improve your life, or anyone else's. If you're so mad at Trump why are you using Trumpster talking points?

by Anonymousreply 131November 8, 2024 6:22 PM

R104 the Hop does seem like an infection that is under-treated, thus it keeps coming back each time more drug resistant

Fuck the USA I hope the country and people sufferer because my side lost after running what turned out to be a lackluster campaign that actually got almost no one excited. We ended up losing ground losing those that normally support us.

So now I hope for locust, death, disease, failure, and despair for the USA. Obviously if my side had not run such a poor shit show and won I’d see this differently.

by Anonymousreply 134November 8, 2024 7:48 PM

R131 trumps winning talking points. Winning is so overrated.

The left needs to be more concerned about being correct than in winning. Winning lasts only four years. Being right lasts forever.

by Anonymousreply 135November 8, 2024 7:52 PM

You think he sold US secrets last time, he needs money now, he will sell the whole country out and Europe, NATO all the supposed allies. I can't wait, the whole world will feel the pain, rejoice!

by Anonymousreply 136November 8, 2024 7:54 PM

You get it exactly R134. Ain't nothing wrong with it, either. Tired of being a fucking adult about shit that makes me feels horrible.

by Anonymousreply 137November 8, 2024 8:06 PM

R113 same. If I saw a MAGA bleeding on the street I'd step over them and continue on my way. No call to 911 either. They can all fucking rot.

by Anonymousreply 138November 8, 2024 8:11 PM

R69 the America they're clinging to never existed. It was manufactured American Dream propaganda and farmed out via tv like My Three Sons, and advertising.

by Anonymousreply 139November 8, 2024 8:17 PM

R138 just wait until the next aids like epidemic comes along and it will come along.

by Anonymousreply 140November 8, 2024 8:27 PM

All the crazy right wingers will now crawl back out from shadows and join the Trump administration

by Anonymousreply 141November 8, 2024 8:29 PM

R141 absolutely. And sadly none will be ugly men wearing a dress, bright red lipstick, who likes to steal luggage while at the airport.

Now that would be crazy but they are not that stupid.

And here is a bet. None will be filmed fucking in the US Capitol.

Lots of crazy to go around

by Anonymousreply 142November 8, 2024 8:35 PM

R142, instead they'll just film themselves fucking in RNC offices like Scott Presler did. Eat shit, MAGA

by Anonymousreply 143November 8, 2024 9:12 PM

The Capitol is sacred. The RNC is someone’s fucking office space. Who gives a fuck what happens on the floor of the RNC?

Yes we at DL are getting push back now from the majority of Americans that are now fed up and are now registered GOP.

Our country is now a majority GOP registered country. And watch those numbers grow.

Push back from the majority

by Anonymousreply 144November 8, 2024 9:22 PM

People care about their kids, puberty blockers, men in women's sports, abortion, and other shit. Those are the social issues that moved people to Trump or Harris. No one cares about the guy that fucked in the Capitol.

by Anonymousreply 145November 8, 2024 9:25 PM

I realize that some here do not care for Dave Chappelle, but I think this is worth a watch.

It’s related to the 2016 election and unfortunately still relatable today.

R144, who gives a fuck about a Senate staffer fucking in the Capitol? He was never part of the administration, despite what you want to believe. Just a staffer for a Senator

by Anonymousreply 148November 8, 2024 9:34 PM

100% agree with OP on this. This MAGA and Project 2025 agenda is what the majority of Americans voted for and as unpleasant as it is - this is what should now happen. In fact it HAS to happen so that we can experience whatever it is and then move to the next phase of America which will hopefully be a complete repudiation of MAGA and a return to a centrist democracy with some lessons learned and a way to live together discovered. It's very unlikely the Dems will win congress so there's nothing much they can do except make noises. The Trump Party has the house, senate, POTUS and SCOTUS.

If this destroys the fabric of the US and America's standing in the world then so be it. There's no possibility we can move to the next phase without going through this phase. I feel terrible for the carnage, despair and generational suffering which will be the outcome of MAGA but it has to happen because until it does the MAGA will never give up.

The only hope we have is that Trump doesn't pull a Viktor Orbán style regime and that there are free and fair elections in 2028. What worries me is that a lot of what Trump has thrreatened recently is exactly what Orbán has implemented in Hungary so that no other party can be elected, political dissenters are dealt with, the media are strictly controlled and the judiciary are replaced by loyalists and everyone who disagrees cowers in fear of retaliation.

by Anonymousreply 149November 8, 2024 9:35 PM

If you actually read my comment, r147, you would see I specifically said that those were the SOCIAL issues that motivated people. I was not commenting on every type of issue. And I agree the economy was bigger, but it's not the only thing.

Anyway, no one gave a fuck about the guy fucking in the Capitol.

by Anonymousreply 150November 8, 2024 9:36 PM

R148 it’s a populist pushback against people exactly like you and I. And especially an elitist dem staffer that would film and fuck,on the floor of the Capitol.

But it’s 1000s of things that have occurred over decades and a solidly Democratic country has shifted over time and is now a majority GOP country. It’s not one thing it’s not 6 things.

It’s pushback against a whole lot of things the majority of voters are fed up with.

Just as we are fed up with their shit. Unfortunately they have the numbers. And they won.

by Anonymousreply 151November 8, 2024 9:42 PM

Unfortunately I agree with you. The whole thing has to crash and burn and people will have to suffer, otherwise the MAGA people will never, ever learn and will never stop. It will have to be total annihiation of everything they believe in, akin to Nazi Germany. The Germans were never going to give up and stop supporting Hitler until they were absolutely decimated. It was only then that they were able to move on.

by Anonymousreply 153November 8, 2024 9:56 PM

Actually, r153, many Germans were still anti-Semitic after the war. Knowing full well what had happened, they thought it was deserved. Occupation and education took many years to reverse this.

Germany where anti semitism rose 80% last year. German Nazis are now back and proud..

by Anonymousreply 156November 8, 2024 10:05 PM

r154 the point is that Germany went on to have a democratic government.

by Anonymousreply 157November 8, 2024 10:05 PM

r156 the spike in antisemitism in Germany isn't coming from actual Germans.

by Anonymousreply 158November 8, 2024 10:06 PM

Antisemitism in the US comes mostly from Americans. But in Germany it’s not from the Germans?

It’s a world wide problem it’s growing much larger and getting worse and there are now a lot of Nazis in a lot of countries.

And Germany was a democratic country when Hitler joined the govt was it not?

It was slowed not reversed.

by Anonymousreply 159November 8, 2024 10:11 PM

Israel isn't to be able to level the Middle East R155. What will end up happening is that the shitty Muslim countries will band together, pool their resources and it will be tit for tat in a coordinated effort to wipe Israel off the map. Imagine if several Muslim countries attack Israel at the same time. It's more likely that the entire region - including Israel - will be reduced to Gaza - or worse - glass. Then for the survivors, the reprisal attacks will go on for a century and nobody will ever be safe again. American troops will be sent as support and will die en masse. Or it will turn into WW3.

R158 - it most certainly IS coming from actual Germans.

by Anonymousreply 160November 8, 2024 10:11 PM

It's mostly coming from Muslims in Germany.

by Anonymousreply 161November 8, 2024 10:13 PM

R159 - R158 is so brain addled by hatred he's implying that Muslims in Germany are Nazis. *eyeroll*

It [bold]REALLY[/bold] isn't R161. Stop lying. The rise of Nazism and anti-Semitic hatred in Germany is coming from members of the German people. White German Christian people. I have family in the Netherlands and Germany and I know this for an absolute fact.

Are you trying to say that Nazis are good friends of the Jews now R165, R164 et al? Fancy that!

Muslims hate Jews and Jews hate Muslims. They have carried out horrific barbarisms on each other for many millennia. This has been the situation since the beginning of Abrahamic religion and it will be the situation until the end of Abrahamic religion. Nothing will ever change because of religion. Fact.

A resurgence of Nationalistic Nazism is taking place in Germany and that's what's worrying the shit out of Germans. And the modern Nazis HATE Jews just as much as they ever did. But you'll be thrilled the know they also HATE the Muslims. They also HATE gays and they want to see us all dead.
Are you trying to say that Nazis are good friends of the Jews now [R165], [R164] et al? Fancy that!

Nobody said that. Your reading comprehension is challenged, apparently. Nobody called Muslims Nazis. It's that much of the antisemitism and antisemitic attacks in Germany are coming from Muslims, as they are in the rest of Europe. We just saw this in Amsterdam yesterday.

{quote] The whole thing has to crash and burn and people will have to suffer, otherwise the MAGA people will never, ever learn and will never stop

Well said R153. However, it's unlikely the MAGA will ever learn anything because it is their way of life. MAGA are Evangelicals, wealth creation Churches, KKK, poorly educated people who lost their jobs as their industries changed and are unable to function in a modern workplace and wealthy older people who are racists plus the QAnon loons and Tea Party conspiracy theorists etc. They are unlikely to change.

The people who might learn something are the non-MAGA conservatives (economic conservatives and non-Evangelical Christians) who after seeing the carnage of the final Trump presidency may refuse to support that Trump Party/MAGA movement any further because they have seen the deep and lasting damage it has caused to the country. That's really all we can hope for. That they will never have the numbers to be elected again. That's not to say that the Dems don't have to properly get their shit together and become a viable centrist "broad-church" option in the meantime.

by Anonymousreply 169November 8, 2024 11:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 174November 9, 2024 1:53 AM

Yeah this kind of thing … nope.

This country has just made a monumental mistake which I’m hoping won’t be fatal. But just writing the future off because you’re pissed about that is not the answer.

We need to work to get the country back on track and start today. The road ahead is right in front of us.

The best way to fuck Trump is to get control of the House (assuming it flipped red) and chip away at his control of the senate. Not to take your toys and go home.

by Anonymousreply 175November 9, 2024 1:59 AM

Thank you, R175. I agree. I was thinking of looking for an academic position abroad. Originally, because I always wanted to move to New Zealand or Germany, but with the prospect of the USA becoming an authoritarian, illiberal democracy, there's greater urgency.

Then I saw the picture of Hillary Clinton sitting with Kamala Harris on Election Night, I thought, here are two women who have devoted their lives to this country in public service, believe in the values of opportunity and justice for all, and they're not quitting.

Why should I? Even if I attain my dream of moving abroad, I will never give up the fight...opposing in a peaceful and civil way the injustices that are sure to come in January.

by Anonymousreply 176November 9, 2024 2:12 AM

I wonder if Trump will go through withdrawal for no longer holding campaign rallies. No audience now.

by Anonymousreply 177November 9, 2024 2:17 AM

Here’s what the advent of CoViD-19 taught me:

They didn’t care who died, including family members and/or themselves, so it goes without saying that those of them who survived, DGAF now, either.

These people enjoy suffering if YOU suffer as well. One of the biggest blind spots that plagued Democrats was thinking that these people actually care about their own wellbeing. They don’t.

Everything, & I mean EVERYTHING, including possible poverty, homelessness & a premature, preventable death is worth it, in order to own the libs.

by Anonymousreply 178November 9, 2024 2:21 AM

I’m not going anywhere, I like all my stuff. But I’m no longer voting for this ideal of justice and democracy, I’m voting for me and what I want from this country. The Black men who voted for Trump because they couldn’t vote for a black woman will still get beat up by cops; performative activists who stood up for Gaza instead of women’s reproductive rights will wake up to find they’re second class citizens just like women in Muslim countries, and MAGA will lose healthcare options as tariff fueled inflation take their jobs and decimates their farm communities.

My investments do better under Trump, the value of my properties climb, pay less taxes. Maybe I just vote for me now, if they don’t care, why should I?

And eff the Dems. They’re playing games with us bleeding hearts same as Trump plays the MAGAs.

by Anonymousreply 179November 9, 2024 2:23 AM

I’m amazed at all the people here saying that they hope Trump dies. I want him to live out his full four years, and I want him to implement his policies in full. Give his people what they voted for.

I want him to stand and rant, yelling at journalists, calling everyone else liars, fellating microphones. I want all his evangelical “Christians” to watch as he inflicts untold suffering and shovels cash to billionaires. I want to watch as these loathsome hypocrites show the world what they are: that they will tolerate anything as long as their whiteness maintains supremacy over their fellow citizens.

I want these patriots, the flag-shaggers to watch as he defers to Putin again and again, giving away US influence on global affairs and undermining America’s alliances.

I want his hispanic voters to witness how thrilled his MAGA whites are, and to watch just how little of a shit they give when US citizens are caught up in the sweeps for illegal immigrants, and treated like pariahs.

Give these people a full four years of what they voted for. Either they will finally, FINALLY grow sick of him and the fever will break, or they will keep the faith in the rapist in the Oval Office, in which case they deserve what they get.

by Anonymousreply 180November 9, 2024 3:03 AM

Blow it out your ass R181. Most of the people protesting Gaza have no stake in the matter. Just bored college kids.

by Anonymousreply 182November 9, 2024 3:59 AM

One consolation in all of this is knowing that history will properly judge Donald Trump for the asshole he is, no matter how hard his ass-kissers try to portray him as some sort of American patriot savior. Everyone else he's targeted with vile personal attacks - Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and so on - will never have a reputation as awful as his. Those names will be remembered for their roles in moving the country towards the goals the country was founded on. There will never be thousands of kids attending schools named for Donald J. Trump, Russia and Hungary excluded. When all else fails, historic rebuke can be the greatest justice.

by Anonymousreply 183November 9, 2024 4:02 AM

R182, as R181 said, blow it out your ass. Performative is exactly how I describe protests that are misplaced and misguided and do nothing to change the outcome for those in danger. And the aptly described bored college kids protest voting to “teach Kamala a lesson” when they could’ve voted in a real way to save the lives of American women, is unconscionable, and they will learn to regret it.

by Anonymousreply 184November 9, 2024 10:03 AM

Clinton Biden Harris may well be remembered as giant failures by history. The end of a long political era.. The last gasp leaders of what was formerly the Democratic Party.

People didn't vote for Project 2025; no one knows what is really in it, as the Dems failed to clearly articulate the dangers, but instead ran merely on a woman's right to choose. If you asked the average citizen what Project 2025 was, they would probably say it was a new sci-fi movie. People voted against the Biden Administration. Period.

by Anonymousreply 187November 9, 2024 12:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 188November 9, 2024 1:50 PM

What if he does that, and voters like it?

That's the thing. He does the shit that scandalises Dems and it just makes him stronger.

The way forward is to analyse why voters are rejecting the Dems. Some honesty and humility and an upgrade is required. A lot of the Dem playback needs to be thrown out. It's not 1998 anymore.

by Anonymousreply 189November 9, 2024 2:19 PM

I just wish Democrats would take the rhetoric of Warren and Sanders and AOC and all the progressives and turn it into actionable proposals, described in plain language that frames outcomes, benefits and results rather than moral imperatives. As soon as Warren starts quavering about mommas and babies you roll your eyes and vote for somebody else. Give people something to remember and think about, rather than leaving them with an impression of somebody who wants to spend your tax money on somebody else.

America is not a country that shares easily. OK. Deal with that reality and talk in terms it can hear. Skip the lectures on morality and decency. You've got the wrong country.

by Anonymousreply 190November 9, 2024 2:47 PM
I just wish Democrats would take the rhetoric of Warren and Sanders and AOC and all the progressives and turn it into actionable proposals, described in plain language that frames outcomes, benefits and results rather than moral imperatives.

The country rejects progressive ideas when they come from Democrats, especially the 'democrats' noted above. Here is the truth that most Democrats don't want to hear. You run a 60 year old version of Joe Biden. Someone who likes salty language, who likes to shake hands with everybody, a middle-of-the-road guy who is likable and who doesn't come across as thinking they're better than anyone else, and who knows how to get shit through Congress. If it's someone from New York or California, it should be a non-starter.

Nobody against genocide in Gaza voted for Trump, who has always been a Netanyahu fan. Most Arab Americans vote for whom their patriarchs demand and a little cash from some Trumpists and they are perfectly happy to vote to kill Palestinians. No college kids protesting Palestinian genocide voted for Trump either.

R215, R216 being cute. They didn’t vote for Harris, so they didn’t need to vote for Trump. Same as the “never-Trumpers” who couldn’t pull the lever for Harris either. A distinction without a difference, the end result is the same, President-elect Trump, who will do nothing about what you claim is most important to you. He’ll let Bibi keep going until not a single Palestinian remains, and he’ll eff up the US, probably Ukraine, and as of yet unknown parts of the world.

I’m over it. You’ll all reap what you’ve sown. Enjoy what’s left of your virtue-signaling while you can.

by Anonymousreply 219November 9, 2024 6:56 PM

This is in response to posters commenting on the youth vote (including the many college kids who displayed reluctance to support Kamala because of their perceptions of this administration’s role in Gaza).

The hard truth is that this age group (generally speaking) is lazy as fuck. The proof? Turnout among this group was down from four years ago, despite how vocal and “concerned” they are about current events.

In this election, turnout among the 18-29 demographic was a dismal 42%.

Who knows what effect their greater participation would have had on the results? But if they cannot manage something as simple as voting, perhaps they should stop complaining.

by Anonymousreply 220November 9, 2024 8:01 PM

AMEN R226. Some of them can barely stand up and look like they are wheeled in and out on stretchers. They bring with them very old and outdated ideas of times gone by and I'm not talking about the bad things. I'm talking about attitudes that everyone will be held accountable, the justice system is blind and works, people are basically all good, people will do the decent thing, good always wins, devotions to old norms and moralities which no longer exist.

This linked thread is a perfect example. A well-meaning man (Lawrence Tribe) who is from another era and is clearly unable to understand what's happening right now today and is unable to understand how to operate in the current political environment.

The Dems get absolutely crushed in a national election losing most of the states and the majority of voters and the advice here at DL is that the dem party should totally remake the country the govt and the constitution.

What is a another word for delusional?
The Dems get absolutely crushed in a national election losing most of the states and the majority of voters and the advice here at DL is that the dem party should totally remake the country the govt and the constitution.

Did you make the same claim about Biden in '20? Even when they win, the Dems typically lose most of the states (there are more small red states than blue), so that's rather meaningless. Trump's popular vote margin of victory was not only less than Biden, but less than Hillary, too. And Trump merely won back the states he won in '16, the same ones he lost to Biden. Nothing more, nothing less. The greater electoral vote count doesn't mean he added any more states, just that those states netted more electoral votes due to the '20 Census.

by Anonymousreply 233November 11, 2024 1:07 PM

R233 .this was a crushing and at least to us at DL a totally unexpected loss. And now the GOP not only won the popular vote they will control it all with a clean sweep . .

Bidens win did not change the country and I never thought it would. It was a great win though. Tuesday was a game changer. And a crushing loss

You can continue to point out how well the Dems did .

by Anonymousreply 234November 11, 2024 1:14 PM
this was a crushing and at least to us at DL a totally unexpected loss.

There were pro-Harris voices here who pushed back against the idea that the race was in the bag. At one point in October Torta said he thought Trump had a 75% chance of winning, an assertion I then echoed. And yes Trump's victory was crushing to us, but that's not the same as saying "[t] he Dems get absolutely crushed in a national election."

The magnitude of the misinformation and disinformation circulating during this election cycle is staggering. Perhaps mostly because it came out of Trump's mouth and the mouths of his surrogates. However, it is also clear that external forces (i.e. Russians and others who benefit from a second Trump admin) were working overtime to energize his voters and demoralize the rest of us. It started with all the scathing commentary on Biden's fitness for office, and only became darker and more charged with misogyny and racism when Harris took the nomination. It was happening at DL but not just here. It happened at every public, anonymous internet forum.

"Nationally, 46 human cases have been documented and confirmed during the 2024 outbreak, including a person in Missouri with no known exposure to either cattle or poultry, the two primary sources of exposure so far. All of the individuals have experienced only mild symptoms, such as conjunctivitis or cough, and none have been hospitalized."

"During a press briefing on Thursday, CDC principal deputy director Nirav Shah said that nothing in the new data “gives rise to a concern about person-to-person transmission,” adding that the agency believes the virus still poses only a low risk to the general public."

by Anonymousreply 252November 12, 2024 3:47 PM

My hope is that Trump and his MAGA politicians start alienating more of the moderate R's in Congress and there becomes a LOT of infighting.

The Rep party knows he has only 4 years - and then there will be a void. If he tanks everything - they know they're going to have a really fucking hard time getting things back.

It only takes a few to break the majority. Remember - a lot of these politicians are up for re-election in 2 years.

It's going to be chaos - we're guaranteed of that. Many of the R Congress members are tired of dealing with these stunt queens like MGT. It won't take many to make it difficult.

The Blue MAGA element here definitely had somewhat of a chilling effect on what I posted. Not entirely, but I was more careful at times than I should have been. I could understand the political professionals not wanting to publicly be seen giving succor to Trump, but I could not understand the great effort by some to silence any speech here - in our limited confines - that might not paint the rosiest of prospects for the Democratic ticket.

R7 there are still pretty good Olive OIl products from California.. Of course those probably will increase in price as demand goes up.

by Anonymousreply 283November 15, 2024 5:23 PM

^ You libtards are going to use Wesson corn oil now. God bless our wonderful President Trump for restoring American values!

by Anonymousreply 284November 15, 2024 5:28 PM

R279 There's no equivalent to MAGA on the Democratic side. MAGA is one of a kind. When the Democrats profess loyalty to one man whose a sexual abusing felon, transform their party into a personality cult, are willing to risk arrest, detention, or death because of a lie, storm government buildings like savages, co-opt fringe extremist elements that are considered domestic terrorists, organize violent protests, threaten politicians with death, ruin the lives of poll workers, engage in idiotic conspiracy theories, and vote for him again despite all of that, then there is an argument for saying "Blue MAGA" is a thing.

I place "Blue MAGA" on the list of terms like "Bidenist" that were used primarily by DL trolls during the election campaign that never caught on.

Unfortunately for the Dems they don’t have a MAGA like support base. And that’s a big problem.

When the Dems come out to march about we look like an untrained version of the Stanford band. When the band from the GOP walks about they look like a sharp marching band from the 8th and I.

A term used to characterize those who were absolutely certain Harris was going to win, any data to the contrary notwithstanding. Those of us who expressed some skepticism risked being labelled a troll.

Who could have seen this coming?

Trump's pro-Israel cabinet picks upset Muslims who voted for him.

“Trump won because of us and we're not happy with his secretary of state pick and others,” says one anti-Harris “Muslims For Trump” co-founder in PA.

by Anonymousreply 291November 16, 2024 7:23 PM

The "Muslims for Trump" guy quoted in R290 should have thought about those issues BEFORE the election. A blind person could see the appointment of a pro-Israel ambassador to placate his evangelical base, which is more important for him to pander to. Plus, this is still "Muslim Ban" Trump from 2016, why would he believe that there has been some magical transformation in his views of them? Donald Trump did was he always does, lie, cheat and divide for the purpose of gaining power and influence. Once he tricked enough Americans into voting for him to "fix" things and fails to do it, his voters will realize that he fucked them over. This is just the beginning and he will piss off more of his base before he's sworn in again.

Those of us in the sane world knew what he'd do and the chaos that would come with it. We tried to stop it, but enough voters fell for the con and will be in for a rude awakening. Dumbass decisions have dumbass consequences.

I am sure Erik Prince could easily find a way to deport 15 million people, well it would take a lot of time and all those people would need to be placed in detention camps which Erik would run on a generously funded program paid for by the taxpayers. Of course Erik will realize that it is more profitable for him to house them in detention camp because once he deports them they no longer provide income for him.

by Anonymousreply 302November 17, 2024 3:25 PM

I see some $$$ potential for some of you Hollywood elites. Not one series but a series of live action TV shows with real time losers and real time winners.

The Running Man

The Running Queer

The Running Woman

The Running Family

Just for a start. You could add race or native countries or even fat immigrants. Those who were caught and wanted a chance at legal could opt to be in the show. It worked well for immigrant Arnold .

‘Do not pet’: Why are robot dogs patrolling Mar-A-Lago?

A robotic dog named “Spot” made by Boston Dynamics is the latest tool in the arsenal of the US Secret Service.

The device has lately been spotted patrolling the perimeter of President-elect Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

They do not have weapons - and each can be controlled remotely or automatically - as long as its route is pre-programmed.

Passers-by are warned by a sign on each of Spot’s legs: “DO NOT PET.”

“I don't know that anyone is tempted to pet these robot dogs. They do not look cuddly,” said Melissa Michelson, a political scientist at Menlo College.

Video of Spot strutting around the property has gone viral on TikTok - where reactions range from calling them cool and cute, to creepy - and become fodder for jokes on American late night television. But its mission is no laughing matter.

You know all kinds of "fracking" was going on on that plane with all that fast food rushing through those old man digestive systems. Someone struck mud.

by Anonymousreply 311November 17, 2024 6:03 PM

Unfortunately a lot of what RFK says is true and important, yet he's a nutcase and has submitted to the Dictator-in-Chief merely to attain referent power. So he's discredited among many, and lauded among the rest for his submission, not for his observations about health.

Fucking hypocrite. So tired of how MAGA poisons everything it touches.

In a shocking development, Trump -- who knows nothing about Project 2025, nosiree -- is appointing a Project 2025 author to his administration:

"Carr favors a set of antidiscrimination rules that prevent companies from censoring posts, with exceptions for illegal content like child sex abuse images.

In place, consumers should be allowed to choose their own fact-checkers and filters, Carr said."

R318 Shit what would DL do without the FF? Letting adults read what they want is a very shocking suggestion . I feel triggered and wish to block someone now.

by Anonymousreply 319November 18, 2024 12:06 PM

R318 While the surface of the project is to "free speech, stop the editing and oppressive censorship by the woke media" ... the practices and their impact is just the opposite... they intend to censor what is inconvenient or objectionable to the rightwing. It's truly 1984 time.. the department of free press is charged with censoring press.

Many on DL may be surprised when all your favorite porn sites disappear... I'm guessing by late 2025.

by Anonymousreply 321November 18, 2024 5:17 PM

No poppers?

Oh god when will the attacks stop.

by Anonymousreply 322November 18, 2024 7:27 PM

No they will not, R194.

See? This is exactly what I was referring to in another thread here, where we discussed our feelings or thoughts about the then, upcoming election a few weeks ago.

I said Trump would win, despite all of the MSM messaging otherwise. I, like many, wanted Kamala, but that wasn’t going to happen, and it did not.

People need to consider this:

What we have been saying all one is actually true. His supporters are men & women who are angry, emotionally dark & disturbed people. In the simplest terms, the people aren’t nice. They all have running through them a streak of fear and another streak of plain old cruelty. Even the ones who are otherwise friendly or seem harmless, do not be fooled. They will willingly shoot themselves in the foot if there’s a chance that the bullet will ricochet back to a democrat.

They thoroughly enjoy the chaos. They like the disruption in the lives of others. They actually enjoy watching others suffer.

I’m not being dramatic. I saw it all first hand when I lived in the south, and I am telling you all right now, you’ve got the wrong idea if you think these people voted for Trump because they believe that he will help them.

They voted for him because they believe he will fuck us over. That’s it. It’s not a mystery. Let’s face the truth and go from there.

by Anonymousreply 323November 18, 2024 7:33 PM

R323 All of life, or our perception of it, is a "story".... what you describe about the character and motivations of MAGA World is irrefutably true in your story (and in several of my stories I'm likely to tell). But it is an event in a larger story, I think.

The modern world (as represented by social media, Big Data which is now A.I.) has hollowed out communal experiences - we are isolated monads producing agency and opportunity for a Larger Purpose... which is profit for the few at the expense of the many. The innate anger at being caught in this web of meaninglessness expresses itself in disdain for an "Other"... for example we are now to understand that MAGA is working class non-college degree Americans who resent the privilege and condescension of the college educated credentialed class.

The anger and resentment are real.. but the source isn't the socio-political strawman of an "elite"... the causes are deeper. They are, perhaps, fatal...

And (another of my stories) the only way to resist the deadening of human consciousness and will by the digital information-age robber barons... is compassion. I am working on truly feeling WITH the pain of the MAGA voters. I refuse to make them an Other as they are making me. That just perpetuates the problems... and..

As Yuval Harari says... humans are in trouble because we are trying to solve the wrong problems.

by Anonymousreply 324November 18, 2024 8:16 PM

Fuck maggots.

Let them rot in hell. I won't piss on any of them, no matter how badly they burn.
What we have been saying all one is actually true. His supporters are men & women who are angry, emotionally dark & disturbed people. In the simplest terms, the people aren’t nice.

I know people who voted for Trump -- three times now -- that are incredibly kind and generous, and go out of their way to help others.

What they all have in common is a lack of higher education and an inability to apply logic and common sense to abstract principles.

by Anonymousreply 326November 18, 2024 9:22 PM
They voted for him because they believe he will fuck us over. That’s it. It’s not a mystery. Let’s face the truth and go from there.

The MAGAts, yes. The hard-core Trump supporters, obviously. Those people are obviously lost to the Democrats. But he won the votes of many other people. And they - & the millions of Biden voters who sat this election out - are still gettable.

by Anonymousreply 327November 18, 2024 9:38 PM
I know people who voted for Trump -- three times now -- that are incredibly kind and generous, and go out of their way to help others.

But they actually hate you and wish you would die.

by Anonymousreply 328November 18, 2024 9:39 PM

R324, personally, I currently resent the a LOT,

You don’t know much about me, I understand, but please let me state that I pretty much am able to adapt and get along with anyone. I never once disapproved of others due to their voting preferences. As long as they are fundamentally decent people, I am fine with those who do not vote not like I vote.

Living in the south during his first administration changed that for me. I no longer wish to depict every negative incident I encountered over there that affected my way of approaching people/strangers, but I will share that whatever innocence or foolish naivety I once had, is now gone.

When you have a white man, who is your next door neighbor, who is also threatening your life and calling you the N-word, and who feels emboldened to do so because your very own white, Trump loving step father, who has spent months disparaging you to him and other neighbors, simply because you are a democrat who strongly supports the LGBTQ community? Yeah, you may see things differently as well.

I will never trust specific people of a specific political ilk again, R324. I was physically threatened and the police in that small southern town did NOTHING because I do not look like them or act like them, and I sure AF don’t act like they think someone who looks like me should.

They’re complete and utter trash, R324. Garbage. Some are salvageable if you reach them before the FOX News brain rot seeps in, and some of them genuinely do not understand what the fuck is actually going on, & vote the same way everyone else around them does, but other than these exceptions? They are trash, and that is the hard and horrible truth.

My resent will fade, again. Theirs? Probably not.

by Anonymousreply 329November 18, 2024 10:10 PM

R329 It's not a good time. I can appreciate your deeply held resentment. You story sounds true to me. I am sorry you've had these experiences. No positive thing I could say would make your experience change... in fact unwarranted positivity can be toxic too, I know.

But the question I keep surfacing: ok, we got the results of the biopsy. It's malignant. What do we do now?

I'm not sure I have the answer. But just for myself, I need to figure out how to keep the poison on the outside.

by Anonymousreply 330November 19, 2024 12:56 AM

It's the billionaire class. As long as they exist, they will warp and outrage the country.
