In 1975, my cousin went on a hike to Canada.

It was a one way trip. He never returned.

He relinquished his US citizenship and became a citizen of Canada in 1977.

He is now retired and has children and grandchildren.

Boy, I sure wish I had done the same.

Put that in your diary and leave us alone with your dull thoughts.

What was the process back then? In between the 1975 hike and the 1977 citizenship ceremony, some stuff went down. What was that?
