It’s not a democracy if a few people who don’t like other people’s ideas abuse the system by censoring them.

People should be allowed to respectfully disagree and express unpopular opinions without being labeled “freaks” and deleted. Muriel has given you a modicum of power and you are abusing it. Calling that “democracy” is rich.

Everyone has the same number of FFs and WWs. We use them how we like, as per the long established rules of this site, just as you can use yours. If that’s not Democracy then I don’t know what it is.

If you believe that it’s all a result of a few with multiple accounts targeting you then you’re free to use the same tactics but knowing the general thinking here I’m not sure it’s anything other than people not wanting to hear you.

If you have a problem with that, and Muriel’s decisions on how this place is run, then you have a problem with that other, seemingly larger, leg of the American stool, capitalism. Even if this place isn’t a democracy, it’s Muriel’s property, and as mistress of this domain, she gets to set the rules.

There are people who create multiple accounts to abuse FFs and censor ideas they don’t like. Very much the “progressive” mindset.

I don’t believe the FF function was intended as a way to express disagreement. It was meant to police trolling.

Using them to silence people who disagree with you is simply sad.

I'm more concerned the Blame Latino thread is still going strong. There's a lot of racist content there. And I don't mean dog whistle type stuff. Just in your face racism. So, some threads get the boot because they are offensive to trans , but that's OK? Don't get it. But it is what it is.

BTW, I only posted once or twice in that thread to criticize “the concept of solidarity” and to say “don’t scapegoat trans people, the backlash probably started with gay rights,” but now that I’m defending free speech I’ll probably be cancelled by the Progressive Taliban.

We should not define trolling as “expressing ideas I don’t like.” Trolls are people who enjoy riling up other people and generally post obsessively for the purpose of causing disruption. It’s up to us to understand the difference. Many of us are not able to.

I don’t think your “cancel anyone who doesn’t tow the progressive party line” actually does reflect the majority viewpoint here. In fact I think you are probably a small minority. I’d start a poll, but it would only get me cancelled faster.

R9, I hate the tone of that thread, but the meat of it is important: We have to find a way to get the Latino vote back. That's for sure.
