There's not going to be a fair, or even real, election in 2028.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 6, 2024 7:35 AM |
Correct. We’re now in a banana republic.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 6, 2024 7:36 AM |
That's my governor!!! I think Josh would make a great president
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 6, 2024 7:37 AM |
Yes, putting up a Jew after a black Asian woman is a great idea.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 6, 2024 7:38 AM |
Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky is another contender for 2028. He's shown he can win in Red America twice.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 6, 2024 7:40 AM |
I like Beshear, too.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 6, 2024 7:42 AM |
It may be a very, very long time before the US will be worth anything ever again. It's collapse is final.

Correct, R7. Rome fell tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 6, 2024 7:46 AM |

No R7. When rape and insurrection is normalized, we’re done.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 6, 2024 7:54 AM |
It will be too late OP. You're operating with a mindset as if everything is cool and totally normal.
The entire structure of the US federal government is about to change at great speed.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 6, 2024 7:55 AM |
r9, that is very optimistic at this point. If you didn't read about Project 2025, brush up. There will be absolutely no guardrails on trump this time..unless Biden uses his superpowers.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 6, 2024 7:57 AM |
There will not be elections. He will just appoint someone.

You fucks all said the same thing after 2016 and people like me were on here saying that we will survive. Then the Lord delivered us Mighty Joe Biden. I was telling you in 2017 on here that Joe would save us. I was the very first person. We survived him then, we’ll survive him now. And I’m telling you that Josh Shapiro is the more advanced version of Biden 2020.

MARY!
You understand that, short of a violent coup with military support, Trump can’t change our system of government, correct?
That would require changes in law for some acts, or changes to the constitution for others.
For changes in law, do you think congresspeople want to pass laws reducing or ending social security, for instance? Yes, that would be very popular with the older voters that republicans rely on to win. 🤦🏻♂️

Trump didn’t have a job. Shapiro is the Governor of Pennsylvania and must be seen as putting that job first over running for president.

But you'll toletate the current Gentile president sympathetic to thieving, land-grabbing Israel?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 17, 2025 8:57 PM |
Never happening. He became an international joke with his Obama voice and ripping off Obama speeches. His love of Israel makes him DOA and he had way too many skeletons which includes a dead body. No go.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 17, 2025 8:59 PM |
R46 is the same damn poster floating around looking for Shapiro mentions so he can bring up those “skeletons” he supposedly has. If they’re in the closet, how do you know about them? 😂

R44/R48: Trump plans on sticking around for 2028 (or his current proxy, Elmo).
If the matchup is between Trump and Shapiro, what will you do?
Stay home like so many voters did in November? Because that was such a winning strategy for them then. I'm sure I will work in 2028 as well.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 17, 2025 10:23 PM |
Shapiro vs. Trump would be awesome. If Shapiro had the nom in 2024, Trump wouldn’t be president right now.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 17, 2025 10:44 PM |
R46 is certifiable. Ignore her. The” connection” he’s alleging is ludicrous.
R49, let’s not hope it isn’t between Trump and Shapiro in 2028. Because I guarantee, if Dump is running in 2028, he’s running unopposed.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 17, 2025 10:55 PM |
Shapiro IS happening.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 17, 2025 11:24 PM |
It's going to be a Beshear/Shapiro ticket and they will win easily.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 17, 2025 11:29 PM |
R49. It would be a tough vote, but I would reluctantly vote for Shapiro. I wouldn't never ever vote for Trump. Shapiro is more rational, and could hopefully be persuaded not to give away Palestinian land to the Israelis.
I don't vote for third party candidates who have no chance of winning or influencing the legislative or executive branches of government.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 17, 2025 11:33 PM |
Dump will not run in 2028. Unless he and his lackeys on SCOTUS suspend the constitution.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 17, 2025 11:42 PM |
R55. Agree.
Besides, SCOTUS can not do away with an Amendment to the Constitution, which is what the amendment says limiting a president to two terms only.
To add or delete an amendment to the Constitution, three-quarters of Congress must vote on the proposal AND three-quarters of the states must also vote on the proposal as well. A Constitutional amendment cannot just be voted on by the Supreme Court.

The problem with millennial Dems is the mainstream media mostly focuses on Pete Buttigieg, AOC, and Jasmine Crockett. None of those three would win a general election for POTUS. Other millennial Dems and younger Gen X Dems are ignored by the media because they aren't attractive or they live in states that most people ignore. Melanie Stanbury is a younger Gen X Dem who is well spoken and has called out Trump and Musk quite a bit. But, people aren't going to clamor over her because she's from New Mexico and she's plain looking.

R108’s viewpoint is held by a significant % of Dem voters and it is what will doom Shapiro’s chances. Fair or unfair, the Israel/Gaza atrocity is going to seriously handicap any Jewish American running for competitive elective office at this time and throughout the near future. See also Rahm Emanuel.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | June 29, 2025 12:05 PM |
[QUOTE] He's not going to win unless he favors regime change in Israel
Of course he favors “regime change.” Just because you support Israel as a nation doesn’t mean you like Bibi. I don’t know any liberal American Jews who actually like Netanyahu. If they were living in Israel, they wouldn’t have voted for him.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | June 29, 2025 12:28 PM |
In the recent book "Fight" about the 2024 election it suggests that he didn't want the VP slot but thought it would look bad to the party if he snubbed Kamala and didn't go through the interview process. So he agreed to meet her but people at the meeting were shocked by how arrogant he was and within 5 minutes of the interview beginning he was telling her what departments he wanted to be in charge of as VP. I guess we'll never know if that was his way of tanking the interview or if he's just an arrogant piece of work.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | June 29, 2025 12:29 PM |
R109, that’s what I heard as well. He knew that his best shot at ‘28 or ‘32 was to just get some exciting 2024 buzz but not actually be Kamala Harris’s VP pick. He was right and he nailed it. But the Israel/Jewish piece will be a challenge for him now, fair or unfair.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | June 29, 2025 12:37 PM |
R108: "regime change" refers to the forcible, coercive replacement of one government with another, often through military force. It's doublespeak: a euphemism for overthrowing a country's government. It involves a lot more than simply wanting to see Bibi replaced.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | June 29, 2025 12:45 PM |
You get a sense that quite a few posters in this thread really dislike Shapiro. Until you realize that it's really just two, three trolls posting over and over and over here. Not that they bring anything noteworthy to the table, just negativity to create a lasting impression. Instead of driving me to other candidates, this behavior is driving me to moderated forums though.

No one can ever say why they like him. No one ever says what he's actually done that's noteworthy or beneficial. Just "I like Shapiro!" Or "he's great!" or "We love him in PA!" with zero context or reason.
Seems very forced. Very astroturfy.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | June 29, 2025 1:30 PM |
And who would be paying us astroturfers, R115? Is it AIPAC? Or is Shapiro paying us personally from his supply of Jew Gold he keeps in a pouch?
When people were excited for Obama in 2007, what accomplishments could we point to that would’ve justified our enthusiasm? Or does this standard of needing to explain why we like a candidate only apply to Jews?
by Anonymous | reply 116 | June 29, 2025 1:46 PM |
I wanted to like him, especially after he fixed the bridge -- but when I heard him speak, he seemed over-the-top arrogant.

I like a lot of what he's said, as with Pritzker. But both are Jewish and in 2025 that is an area of concern in terms of electability. I wish it wasn't, they're both great, but it's the reality of where our country is right now.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | June 29, 2025 2:03 PM |
Why is it an area of concern in terms of electability, R118? How did these men get elected governors of these huge states and why have they consistently enjoyed high approval ratings if it’s such a concern?

Weird non-sequitur, R116. I have no idea if anyone is paying anyone, nothing in my post at R115 said anything about people being paid. I said it seems forced and astroturfy, meaning fake. Maybe you made that ridiculous leap because you're being paid? Over 20 of these posts are from you, and like I described, none mention a single actual reason why Shapiro should run for president.

Gavin Newsome, Josh Shapiro, Andy Beshear, all decent candidates. Don't overlook Chris Murphy who has been speaking out and kicking ass for months. And Corey Booker. Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar are also possibilities, although I would rather see Amy take over as Senate Majority Leader and tell Chuck Schumer to go sit down and STFU.

R126 she is already doing a lot to put some backbone into Schumer. He relies on her and she has a lot of respect on both sides of the aisle. She's a very hard worker. I think she's make a great Senate Majority Leader.

by Anonymous | reply 128 | June 29, 2025 6:23 PM |
If you can be wonderful as a Democratic Governor of a big state like Pennsylvania, a state which went for Trump twice and will again decide the 2028 election, then you can also be wonderful as President.

R129 they will make being Jewish an issue. They're good at it. Right now here in Georgia, I am watching commercials saying <"Tell John Ossoff not to cave in to the political bosses and to vote to support working families by voting for the "working Families Tax cuts bill" or else all the jobs will go to China! Don't let Ossoff vote against working families!" Now this is a total misrepresentation and a bunch of fucking lies. Of course this is the BBB that will blow up the deficit and give tax cuts to the wealthy. I hate them all so much! We need money to put ads on TV to counter these lies.

[quote] Gavin Newsome, Josh Shapiro, Andy Beshear, all decent candidates. Don't overlook Chris Murphy who has been speaking out and kicking ass for months. And Corey Booker. Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar are also possibilities
Whoever we nominate in 2028, it will need to be someone who can project the image of a fresh, charismatic outsider, not someone who screams "Washington insider" or "experienced politician." Josh Shapiro and Andy Beshear are probably the only ones in your list who can pull that off (and Beshear is questionable because he's sorely lacking in charisma). Senators like Murphy, Booker, and Klobuchar are political insiders who won't excite the masses.

The fact that American voters still need to feel "excited" about a Democratic candidate after what will have been eight years of Trump is a joke and a disgrace.

Last week I spoke to my Dutch brother, who works as a medical researcher at an East Coast university. Even though he's nervous about his immediate future and career in the US (he has a green card), he said that maybe the Trump presidencies were "necessary" in order to make Americans aware for a generation of how easily the country can slide into authoritarianism.

It may be a joke and a disgrace, but it's also reality. Voters might hate Trump, but they're not thrilled by the Democrats either. Every time we fool ourselves into thinking "What voters want this time is an experienced politician who really understands Washington," we're wrong. (Biden in 2020 may be an exception, but that was an unusual election because of COVID.) Being charismatic, a good communicator, and someone who is comfortable with social media and talking to podcasters now trumps issues and policies. Welcome to politics in the 2020s.

I feel like we're already beyond this point. Democrats and independent voters were aware of this already in the last election, and voted accordingly. Republican voters don't seem to care about this question. It seems to be too theoretical to make it a point of discussion. Biden made it a point in his short campaign. People didn't care. Trump now bombs Iran, and people don't care about the breach of law. Due process is dismantled, and people don't care about it either as long as it only hits 'illegal immigrants who just came to US recently.'
People only seem to start caring when they are impacted themselves or immediate family. Otherwise, no, people don't care.

It won't matter who we run. The Republicans have mastered messaging. They have a collusive legacy Media on their side. They lie, sow fear, divide, and do it with complete impunity. Any Democrat who gets into the race will do it on the defensive. They have mapped out strategies and test marketed messages in the so=called "off years." Point of fact is that they never stop campaigning. They also have powerful lobbying groups like Big Pharma, and energy to promote their positions at all time. They have tested language too. Which words and phrases get the kind of reaction they want? These are the things we have to overcome. Because the Republicans have proven repeatedly, that you can run a literal piece of shit for POTUS and win if you have the right message, the collusive support of the media, and unlimited amounts of dark money to throw at it.

There was a psychic I scrolled past on TikTok who said the same thing. She said she wasn't going to choose sides, but the Trump presidencies happened "cosmically" so people could realize how fragile everything actually is and maybe, for once, start voting with this knowledge. If everything could be destroyed this easily, then maybe it wasn't built correctly in the first place.

by Anonymous | reply 168 | June 30, 2025 2:40 PM |
R168, I agree with you up to a point. There is always that core base of assholes, and that is where they start out from. So hypothetically, maybe 37% of the electorate. But they have to find the other 14 %. What I have been saying is that the Republicans have become experts at studying voter behavior and know how to manipulate people to vote against their own interests and we are seeing huge examples of this right now in real time. All those voters who became convinced that gangs of immigrants were destroying communities, and voted for Trump and are now crying and consumed with fear of ICE because "I didn't think he meant me!" Or the people who truly believed he would deal with inflation "on day one" and lower the price of eggs. We shake our heads at their stupidity, but Republicans have weaponized "low information voters" and exploited their fear, exploited divisions, and outright lied to them, and it worked. It's what they do.

Supporting Israel is fine. Supporting the genocidal actions of the rightwing Netanyahu government is not fine. Josh Shapiro loves Israel but I guarantee that, like nearly all other Democrats, he despises Benjamin Netanyahu.
If Shapiro can’t make that distinction, then he can stay in Harrisburg.

And in every state there will be something on the ballot that mobilizes the base. We have to get in front of the issues not play defense. We need to be dreaming up strategies to beat t hem at their own game.
