List everyone to blame for Trump 2.O

Trump ran a bad and weird campaign that turn off even his voters. Harris ran a good one, all things considered.

Trump didn't get himself elected. Harris didn't lose this for herself.

And Vraist Lady Mel stayed out of it.

Who is to fucking blame for this!

Rules: you can blame more than one person or group.

Nancy Pelosi.

by Anonymousreply 1November 6, 2024 6:33 AM

No one, it was a fluke election. /s

by Anonymousreply 2November 6, 2024 6:34 AM

Venezuelans getting free housing. Then ssn, work permits, driver's licenses and food stamps!?

by Anonymousreply 3November 6, 2024 6:35 AM

Obviously men voted for Trump so they are to blame but do I instead blame the women who voted for Trump instead of Harris?

by Anonymousreply 4November 6, 2024 6:37 AM

Who gave Venezuelans all that? Dems yeah but who? Biden made those decisions? He owns those decisions but who made them?

by Anonymousreply 5November 6, 2024 6:38 AM

The DNC, George Clooney, corporate media

by Anonymousreply 6November 6, 2024 6:38 AM

The Chicano community is so pissed that the Venezuelans leapfrogged the pecking order. Hopefully Trump fulfills his part of his promise and gets rid of these ppl

by Anonymousreply 7November 6, 2024 6:43 AM

Corporate media has legitimized Trump for 10 years so yeah.

by Anonymousreply 8November 6, 2024 6:44 AM

BIDEN.

He was clearly not well 2 years ago. He should never have been allowed to run again.

by Anonymousreply 9November 6, 2024 6:49 AM

The Dems for ignoring the issues that concern men - economic ones, and painting them as the enemy. And the fool who thought that abortion was the only issue that women cared about. Kowtowing to the minorities, not wanting to offend anyone, only to have them vote for Trump anyway.

by Anonymousreply 10November 6, 2024 6:50 AM

Messy Hunter Biden, his laptop, hookers, and his huge dong that had the nerve to shame emasculated white men?

by Anonymousreply 11November 6, 2024 6:55 AM

I don’t want a mail order bride in the white house.

by Anonymousreply 12November 6, 2024 6:55 AM

The electorate.

Half this country just voted for the Nazis. They are Nazis.

Full stop.

by Anonymousreply 13November 6, 2024 6:58 AM

Pelosi had the gall to pressure Biden not to run again. She had a say in who the candidate would be. It’s not for the people who vote, but a giant chess game played by the elites on both sides of the fence. They get us all worked up over the issues, but in the end it isn’t about us at all, is it?

It never was.

by Anonymousreply 14November 6, 2024 7:04 AM

Biden would have lost worse than Harris.

by Anonymousreply 15November 6, 2024 7:16 AM

They should kick themselves for not getting a better candidate.

by Anonymousreply 16November 6, 2024 7:18 AM

It has to be Biden. It was clear he wasn’t up to a second term and should have bowed out to allow a full, competitive primary. Although she ran an admirable campaign, Harris would not have won an open primary because she was too close to an (unfairly deserved) unpopular president.

The Democrats needed to run a governor - someone who couldn’t be blamed for federal issues.

Maybe they were TOO inclusive, particularly in regards to the transgenda.

by Anonymousreply 28November 6, 2024 8:47 AM

Texas Governor Greg Abbott. That motherfucker struck gold for Republicans busing undocumented immigrants to other states. A border problem became a national one. Fucking evil genius.

by Anonymousreply 29November 6, 2024 9:25 AM

The fucking Trans agenda and the pronoun police and all that fucking nonsense. It TERRIFIES the Right to think their kids are gonna be encouraged to reject gender. The overt Woke shit freaks them out and pisses them off.

I really do believe there are real trans people...the real ones actually are genetically not wired along male/female "normal" lines. Nothing wrong with that. Good for them. Happy to accept and support them.

But, the "nonbinary" bullshit fad is just kids playing with dressing up. And it's stupid. And, most people hate it. And, it really has helped mobilize the Right.

by Anonymousreply 30November 6, 2024 9:50 AM

I really don't blame Harris/Walz. I don't think any Dem could have beat Trump.

Fucking Gavin Newsome? He's a hairdo wanting to be President.

That fucking governor from PENNSYLVANIA that so many idiots are always pushing? The dweeb whose name I can never remember? He's a cough drop.

The Right isn't going to rest until they've turned this country into a dystopic hellhole. They'll get to run around with their armoured trucks and play Mad Max and kill all the 'libs' they hate. That's what they really want. Yee HAW!!! We're great again!!!

by Anonymousreply 31November 6, 2024 9:56 AM

well at least school nurses will stop the surprise sex change operations on our nations children!

by Anonymousreply 32November 6, 2024 10:00 AM

The Dems establishment are to blame. I said it when it Biden finally stepped aside. They needed to run an abbreviated open primary. The winner had to earn it. Instead, it was a coronation. The last time someone truly earned it with the public was Obama. When he upset the status quo, they decided never to never let that happen again, so we’re stuck with the candidates that aren’t really chosen by the base.

by Anonymousreply 33November 6, 2024 10:05 AM

😈 EVILGELICALS 😈

by Anonymousreply 34November 6, 2024 10:09 AM

R33 Partly to blame, yeah.

I still think Bernie would have beat Trump in 2016. People on both sides of the aisle were fired up for change. The Repubs had a dim line up of nitwits so Trump managed to bulldoze his way through a weak lot.

But, Bernie ran up against the Dem establishment who insisted it was Hillary's turn...she had "earned" it.

by Anonymousreply 35November 6, 2024 10:10 AM

I used to think Bernie would have beaten Trump but now I’m not so sure.

by Anonymousreply 36November 6, 2024 10:40 AM

Fucking Nancy Pelosi is also to blame.

by Anonymousreply 37November 6, 2024 10:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 39November 6, 2024 11:09 AM

R35- we’re in total agreement. I perceived Hillary as having it handed to her without earning it. Bernie likely would have earned the nomination but was prevented from winning by the Dem establishment. They rigged the system after Obama upset the apple cart.

by Anonymousreply 40November 6, 2024 11:21 AM

Does any of this really matter anymore? The lunatics are now running the asylum. It's all over. There is no coming back from this. God help us all.

by Anonymousreply 41November 6, 2024 11:32 AM

No. Life in America as we knew it is over. Even if it wasn’t that great we weren’t totally at the mercy of a madman and his stooges. Now we are. And they have no mercy.

I can’t name a person but millions bought into the illegal immigration bs (taking our jobs, money, houses, pets, etc.) I really think the driving issue was inflation and the disappearance of the middle class as well as homelessness. Whether it’ s the democrats fault or not, they are blamed for it.

by Anonymousreply 45November 6, 2024 12:52 PM

The public saw through ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post, New York Times trying to claim it was a tight race. They lied to us about Biden not being in mental decline. Public finally realized after four years they are all an arm the Democratic Party. No coincidence CBS "Sunday Morning" has never had a positive story about a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 49November 6, 2024 1:04 PM

I won't blame Kamala because she ran a damned good campaign. I won't blame President Biden because, as we learned, this was never about mental decline or age.

I blame the loss of shame and the trashing of intellectualism. How many times are these people going to smile in our faces and then stab us in the back? I guess we get the leaders we deserve.

by Anonymousreply 52November 6, 2024 1:15 PM

Walz wasn’t a difference maker, but can we acknowledge what a complete dud he was? His one job was to level Vance in the debate, & he completely tanked in that role.

by Anonymousreply 53November 6, 2024 1:30 PM

Walz was kept on a leash. If he’d had more free rein with the press the debate wouldn’t have been such high stakes.

Harris’s fear of interviews prevented Walz from being as impactful as he could have been. She didn’t want to speak, so he wasn’t allowed to, lest they’d ask why he was doing all the interviews.

by Anonymousreply 54November 6, 2024 1:43 PM

He had free rein at the debate, R54. And turned into Vance’s lapdog.

by Anonymousreply 55November 6, 2024 1:56 PM

R55, when all your eggs are in one basket, the chances of fucking up are much greater.

If he had been out fielding questions in the media he would have been better prepared for the debate.

by Anonymousreply 56November 6, 2024 1:58 PM

How about the Democratic party going so extremist left and making her a fait accompli when she was in no way presidential material. Even people on DL felt she was a saint.

I was endlessly banned on DL for harshly criticizing her like I was some Maga racist. This is the tolerant liberal party? This is what the liberal party has turned into. If you don't agree with the extremist left you're a rightwinger.

And the asshole DLers who if you don't agree with them they say DL has too many right wingers. That is what the intolerant liberals have turned into-a bunch of huge dickheads.

And I even claimed and of course was shouted down that a number of young people of color saw right through her, had her number and knew she was a phony. Liberal whites are so stupid. Especially the white wealthy woke women who started sucking in the men who felt by supporting her they were declaring their support for feminism and anti racism.

I thought people on DL were smarter than this but I had already said I was wrong with all the downvotes I was getting and the constant banning. I expect to be cancelled again for speaking. out. And I voted for her as I said I would because there was no other choice. The Dem Party has turned to shit. And Obama and Biden were hilarious in how they showed their support for her! Can you hate a candidate more?

by Anonymousreply 57November 6, 2024 2:15 PM

Ultimately, the one at the top of the food chain has been Vladimir Putin. He's come out of this the biggest winner. And it has been he who won it using disinformation propagated by social media and right-wing news sources.

Second place? Elon Musk, followed by all the other far-right billionaires, who swung this election in order to protect and increase their wealth.

by Anonymousreply 58November 6, 2024 2:26 PM

Men. Watching all these celebs like Weinstein, Cosby, Epstein, Puffdiddy, Spacey etc. etc. get #metooed. Afraid that one employee, student or step-daughter is going to come forward and report he harassed, molested, abused or stalked.

by Anonymousreply 61November 6, 2024 2:42 PM

Half the American people are to blame. There’s no other conclusion. Harris was an excellent campaigner. Only Obama and Bill Clinton were in her league. And in a healthy country even a bumbling idiot would have won over Trump . He ran one of the most pathetic half-hearted campaigns imaginable. All he had to do , apparently, was provide enough stimulation of the public’s authoritarian and bigoted impulses. That fact is going to make it difficult for democrats to win in the future.

by Anonymousreply 62November 6, 2024 2:43 PM

Hateful whites and stupid Hispanics.

by Anonymousreply 63November 6, 2024 2:43 PM

The average American got fed up with the constant focus on the "others" that were so harped on by liberal media. They felt that the Dems were ignoring their needs and only responding to the fringe:

1. Trans. The killer was men who identified as women competing in women's sports.

2. Housing the illegals by displacing citizens

3. Seeing all television advertising go 180 degrees to almost exclusively black casts.

4. The elimination of father-son relationships in the media with father-daughter relationships being exclusive

5. The demonization of straight, white citizens as automatically being bigots or racists.

6. DEI. The killer - affirmative action gone awry.

7. The superior attitude of liberals toward the rest of the country - the " flyover" mentality.

It all comes home to roost eventually, and it did in a big way.

by Anonymousreply 64November 6, 2024 2:45 PM

Thomas Matthew Crooks. Blame him.

by Anonymousreply 65November 6, 2024 2:48 PM

Trans athletes is definitely the #1 issue in my life. I think they said there were like 5 of 'em in Ohio?

by Anonymousreply 66November 6, 2024 2:49 PM

R64. I agree the electorate are to blame. We live in a country in which that list of trivialities and inaccuracies decides elections. We are a stupid and degenerate nation. Fifty years from now, when people ask the surviving voters why they sacrificed their civil rights and the future of their democracy, they can say, “well, there were so many black peoples in television and I had the feeling that all the people Trump relentlessly insulted secretly looked down on me. That hurt my feelings.”

by Anonymousreply 67November 6, 2024 2:53 PM

Our country is filled with racist, sexist idiots.

I do blame Biden for the border and for the migrants living in hotels in big cities. I don’t know why he didn’t do his Executive Order right away. I also blame.Biden for Merrick Garland - he should have put a killer in that position.

I wonder if it will have been a mistake to try to court the center right like they did. Maybe it would have energized the youth, esp. men, if she went a little further left. Not AOC left, but appearing with Liz Cheney made her seem like an old school politician. She had Walz there and he is a great example of legitimate left policies working.

Damn, if Mark Halperin - who lost me when he began referring to "Trump Derangement Syndrome" - wasn't right about where the election was headed. Here's his post-election thoughts.

[quote] When honest political scientists study the dimensions of Trump’s win, they will realize that Trump’s remaking of the Republican Party in 2016 (turning it into a white working-class party) was nothing compared to what happened this time – turning it into a Black, Hispanic, white, young, independent working-class party.

The disastrous border, free everything for illegal migrants, men in women's sports and spaces, defund the police, catch and release criminals, and a weak Democratic candidate. Crude, low-functioning men full of hate, combined with the charismatic yet insane candidate, worked for the Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 71November 6, 2024 3:23 PM

As well documented now, there's no one answer but let me add as a group, the Democratic party leadership and power players.

Biden was defenestrated too late. Nobody thought it through, dispassionately. Nobody did a clinical assessment of whether or not any 80+ year old was really the right candidate for president.

If it was me, going forward, the rule will be an automatic primary for any incumbent candidate over 80. Period. Let the party have a say.

Term limits, as a rule or a convention, need to be adopted. Or, again, an automatic primary for any incumbent over 80. We cannot have these dinosaurs roaming the earth, sometimes literally in stages of congnitive decline, with no means to get rid of them. Look at the debacle of Feinstein at the end. Are Nancy Pelosi and Lindsay Graham and half of Congress and the Senate beloved wise elders or just habits coasting on name recogntion? They replaced somebody once too. No one is irreplaceable.

by Anonymousreply 72November 6, 2024 3:27 PM

I blame all the people who voted for him.

by Anonymousreply 73November 6, 2024 3:50 PM

Young people did not go out to vote - yet again. Media sane-washed Trump for years.

I know not all the numbers are in - but if you look at popular vote tallies - I think there were like 15 million fewer votes this year?

155.4 million votes in 2024, and 139 million votes counted thus far.

People did not vote. This is what we get.

by Anonymousreply 74November 6, 2024 3:51 PM

Those who voted for trump are to blame

by Anonymousreply 75November 6, 2024 3:57 PM

Biden would have lost to Trump.

Biden or Kamala would have lost to Haley.

I'm sure instead of a gut check Dems will continue with identity politics, ignoring middle America until elections, insisting that "women have penises", funding genocide, and insisting on candidates that check numerous boxes.

by Anonymousreply 76November 6, 2024 4:04 PM

Pelosi had the nerve to tell Biden that he was too old. Bitch is three years older than he is. Her ancient behind needs to go away now. Not even allowing any other candidates to be vetted was a tragic mistake. Or not. It’s almost like they wanted to lose, to let Trump win. But the MAGATS are so stupid they don’t see that he’s gonna renege on his promises like he did before. They need to clown in the White House to distract the public from their shady dealings.

by Anonymousreply 77November 6, 2024 4:08 PM

[quote] If it was me, going forward, the rule will be an automatic primary for any incumbent candidate over 80. Period. Let the party have a say.

This is so weird. There was a primary, and Biden won primary after primary after primary. Yes, the other candidates were nonentities or loons (hey, remember when RFK JR was a Democrat?), but people actually had an opportunity to jump in. They didn't because they saw the party had overwhelming support for Biden at the time.

Same with Hillary. The "establishment" did support her, but the actual primary voters were the ones who insisted again and again and again that they wanted her over Bernie. Bernie tried, but simply failed to get the support to be the nominee. That's how it goes sometimes, the lefty progressive gets rejected by the party base.

by Anonymousreply 84November 6, 2024 4:35 PM

I don't think it was a good idea to do the televised gig with Oprah Winfrey and latterly share a stage with her. She is no longer the asset she once was and is quite a divisive toxic figure in many ways

Umm, Pelosi is not running for president and seems to have sufficient intellectual capacity to serve out a two-year term as one of 435 house membres so, there’s no hypocrisy.

If you wish there had been more opportunity to consider other candidates, please direct your anger to Biden. How exactly was this long vetting process supposed to occur? That would have conflicted with Biden’s ability to fantasize until mid-summer that he was going to remain president into his late 80s

Won’t they be surprised when it turns out Trump doesn’t give a shit about any of them either, lol. The Blacks might want to be a little more careful around cops and Hispanics will learn to carry proof of citizenship at all times. That's precisely the arrogance that will assure that Dems never win another election. One of the reasons that " flyovers" vote Republican - can't stand the condescension from the east coasters who think they are a gift from God.

Callous urban Northeast sophisticates sometimes say mean things about where I live.

by Anonymousreply 98November 6, 2024 6:31 PM

'Harris was an excellent campaigner.'

I hate to use the term 'word salad' because it is so old and a tired term but she was speaking constantly in circles in banalities. And if any journalist democratic or republican demanded that she answer a question directly she took on a nasty edge. How dare you demand that I answer directly! And that laughter! When nothing was funny. It's nothing but time marking and running out the clock. Personally I found her an attractive charismatic person but she is a political cipher and along with Biden made disastrous decisions where if you had a brain you were thinking what the fuck are they doing?

And why didn't she give a speech today? Either to concede or if she would fight the results. She proved she didn't have the guts.

by Anonymousreply 99November 6, 2024 6:44 PM

It was a very poor campaign in the middle and that doomed her. They started out strong, especially “weird” and the snarky rapid response press releases, and outrallying Trump. The stump speeches - hers leaning on her mother (Black men, “what about her black father?”), him leaning on Minnesota nice/coach/teacher - both aged poorly. You were eyerolling by week 3. She did great at the debate. But didn’t capitalize on that momentum, instead letting the media and public stew in cats and dogs without going in for a policy kill.

But then the middle period went anonymous. The policies weren’t sharply branded and packaged. They didn’t keep up the rapid response or humor, and way too much press access control. This is when the poll numbers started softening no matter how bad he was doing. Needed an impact switch up to go with the policy wonkery. And a marked departure from Biden. “Not that I can think of” was fatal.

By the time we got to the closing rallies, if you were already along for the ride you were bored, and I’d you weren’t you weren’t buying, even if they were well-packaged. Then it was all, “we’re not him” and no “what you’ll get”. Finally, skipping Rogan was also a giant mistake. He was sincere about giving you a fair go.

This was a campaign run by set-piece and narrative merchants and no one who understands pulsing impactful moments. When your campaign strategists lose to Barron fucking Trump, you need better strategists.

by Anonymousreply 100November 6, 2024 6:45 PM

Honest question: has there ever been a stump speech that changed so little?

God, I got tired of those lines, not just at the podium but in front of the press.

by Anonymousreply 101November 6, 2024 6:47 PM

[quote] hate to use the term 'word salad' because it is so old and a tired term but she was speaking constantly in circles in banalities.

Te how is moronic. Did she from time to time full time by uttering banalities? Yes. Did she do it often? No. Did she do it during the debate? No.

Other than Biden and Clinton, most of the winning candidates have sounded like they were brain-damaged when they opened their mouths. Are you honestly saying Harris sounded anything like as stupid as the two Bushes, Reagan, and Trump?

by Anonymousreply 102November 6, 2024 6:55 PM

Voters didn’t vote FOR Trump. They voted for hate-greed-resentment of their own failures.

[quote] It was a very poor campaign in the middle and that doomed her.

Honestly, I think he was going to win no matter what campaign she ran. He won despite running the most half-hearted, substance-free, disorganized, boring campaign imaginable. It’s not the relative quality of the two campaigns that decided it.

15 million Dems sat their ass at home - that's what happened.

by Anonymousreply 105November 6, 2024 7:36 PM

Obama. He told black men not to sit out the election and they didn't, and they largely supported Trump!

Biden (who I love) really should've stepped down after he shepherded us through the pandemic and cleaning up Trump's mess. That was she could've taken over and shown the country she could be a competent leader. And yes, I was in denial about Joe's decline. It was more than obvious at that debate that he was out of it. I don't really fault Kamala-she did the best she could with the hand she was dealt.

^ Sorry bout the typos. Didn't put on reading glasses.

by Anonymousreply 108November 6, 2024 7:47 PM

All you folks with deplorable parents, you kept them alive long enough to vote.

by Anonymousreply 109November 6, 2024 8:01 PM

Hillary's emails.

by Anonymousreply 110November 6, 2024 8:04 PM

When Biden stepped down, democrats should pick a white straight man as the candidate. Trump would still win but it wouldn’t be a landslide like this. Democrats catered to black women voters to pick Kamala (black women are the loudest in tv and show businesses) but lost support from whites and latinos .

by Anonymousreply 111November 6, 2024 8:08 PM

Loud, loud black women!!! What can we do?

You forget, she wasn’t black yet when she was chosen.

by Anonymousreply 112November 6, 2024 8:21 PM

No, r111, Democrats in a hurry picked the only logical candidate, Biden's Vice President. It is true that picking some white guy out of the blue would have been seen rightly as a huge insult to black people, but it wasn't really a choice to suddenly say, hey, let's try Kamala. She made the most sense at the time.

And there is really no good reason to suppose that any ole white guy would have done better. This was a big repudiation of the Democratic Party in favor of the career criminal grifter. America was in the mood to do stupid shit, and stupid shit was done.

by Anonymousreply 113November 6, 2024 8:23 PM

Enough with the "black men voting for Trump" bullshit. It's not true.

Black women AND men overwhelmingly went for Kamala.

Whites and Latins did not.

by Anonymousreply 114November 6, 2024 8:23 PM

[quote] That fact is going to make it impossible for democrats to win in the future.

FIFY

by Anonymousreply 115November 6, 2024 8:30 PM

[quote] Black ... men overwhelmingly went for Kamala.

That kinda misses the point. I don't think that anyone denies the truth of your statement, but the margins DO matter. And if Trump picked off a chunk of Black men, that's not insignificant.

by Anonymousreply 116November 6, 2024 8:32 PM

R114 that is exactly what went wrong. Democrats only catered to blacks but Latinos , asians and other minorities don’t support blacks. They all have their own agenda. They’d rather pick a white man than a black woman.

I think it was a mistake for Harris to say that she wouldn't do anything different from what Biden did. It was probably a strategic call, a way to counter criticism that she didn't get any primary votes by implying that she was basically another Biden. Besides attaching herself to someone not terribly popular, it didn't sound very authentic, because, come on, we all have differences from one another.

I do agree that choosing Walz was not the best choice. He gave off too much suburban-dad energy and not enough leadership vibes. I think she should have gone with Beshear, who could at least give tips on how to succeed when surrounded by Republicans.

Although probably not fatal, it may have been a mistake to focus a lot on Liz Cheney. Most people don't get worked up one way or another about her. I'm not sure why the Harris campaign gave the message of "Big news, we're endorsed by Liz Cheney. That's right, Liz Cheney. You did not read that wrong -- LIZ. CHENEY!"

[quote] Although probably not fatal, it may have been a mistake to focus a lot on Liz Cheney.

Agree. It was a mistake to hitch her wagon to someone as horrible and loathsome as Liz Cheney and tell voters that Liz or Dick Cheney is someone people should admire.

by Anonymousreply 119November 6, 2024 11:59 PM

Disagree Walz was a bad choice. When was the last time a Veep pick got attention like that?

by Anonymousreply 120November 7, 2024 12:01 AM

[quote] When was the last time a Veep pick got attention like that?

All that bad attention?

by Anonymousreply 121November 7, 2024 12:03 AM

I guess some people are entitled and lazy fucks. Can’t even get an education or a job, let alone get off their ass to vote.

by Anonymousreply 122November 7, 2024 12:04 AM

I agree even to the end she was getting caught out on questions she should have had an answer to, like what would you do differently?

by Anonymousreply 123November 7, 2024 12:04 AM

Hardly, R121. He stayed off the couch.
