Because people hate when celebrities get involved in politics.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 6, 2024 5:30 AM |
True r1. I hate that I'm in the same political party as Julia Roberts.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 6, 2024 5:32 AM |
Celebrities know nothing about politics and have no business involving themselves in it. Nobody gives a damn about their opinions. They know nothing about how real working folks live.

[quote]Because people hate when celebrities get involved in politics.
No, when people like Joe Rogan get involved, they LOVE it.
It's the demographics. People who'd vote for Harris HATE it, but people who'd vote for cheeto love it because it reinforces for them that they're not idiots.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 6, 2024 5:35 AM |
The fact that every celebrity endorsed Kamala is precisely why she lost. The general public does not trust famous people anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 6, 2024 5:37 AM |
When John Kerry lost someone put a billboard up on Sunset Boulevard in LA saying something like "thank you Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and a whole list of celebrities who'd been vocal."

Joe Rogan is the most famous podcaster of them all right now, your point is moot.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 6, 2024 5:42 AM |
She hasn’t lost troll, none of the candidates have won 270 delegates yet, in fact none pf them has even made it to 250.
But the gap between the two is small now, unlike two hours ago.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 6, 2024 5:42 AM |
R7 Rogan didn't endorse Trump until a couple of days ago. He wasn't actively campaigning for him in the way that people like Taylor Swift and Beyonce were for Kamala. Most of Rogan's fanbase leaned toward Trump to begin with.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 6, 2024 5:44 AM |
Rogan only endorsed Trump yesterday.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 6, 2024 5:46 AM |
That's BS r9, he was leaning Trump the whole time, not rocket science. I could make the same BS argument how Lady Gaga just endorsed Kamala 2 days ago.

It's 189 to 246, and she's currently behind in all the remaining states with Georgia and NC now called for cheeto.
The writing is on the wall. It's going to be an ugly four years with them in control of all three branches of the federal government.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 6, 2024 5:47 AM |
Rogan is not exactly a progressive. Besides she offered to meet with him, but like a queen he would only do it on his term in his space for 3 hours long. If he was really unbars, he would have made some accommodation.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 6, 2024 5:48 AM |
The worst part is the Supreme court. It's expected 2 more justices will be leaving during the next 4 years. That will give Trump an unprecedented 5 appointed judges. He might even pick Aileen Cannon as payback for dropping his case.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 6, 2024 5:50 AM |
Why would celebrity endorsements influence anyone with a brain?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 6, 2024 5:51 AM |
Why the hell is Rogans show three hours? That’s a ridiculous amount of time to to expect others to indulge you. Do his listeners not have jobs or lives?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 6, 2024 5:53 AM |
The Right Wing played her has a Hollywood Elite and seeing everyone from Beyonce to Cedric praising Kamala just reinforced the right wing rhetoric.

It's not even about the celebs, all of her campaign events had massive turn out. People left trumps events all the time. And Kamala had massive ground game of people knocking on doors etc.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 6, 2024 6:08 AM |
Celebrities tend to be artists. And due to the nature of their work in which they create abstract and fictional representations of humanity and society, most, not all, artists tend to hold Western liberal values. Ditto most, not all teachers and academics.
It’s no big scandal.

Campaign events are social events. They don’t equate to individual ballots, they equate to enthusiasm.

People resent the fact that celebrities have millions of dollars, several mansions, private planes, chefs, etc... while the middle class are trying to decide to either pay rent or buy groceries. That pisses people off.

DOJ moving to wind down Trump criminal cases before he takes office It begins....
The step complies with long-standing Justice Department policy that a sitting president cannot be prosecuted, two people familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Oh MARK MY WORDS...Kamala has this!
There's now way she can lose!

139 million versus 155 million in 2020.
Almost 10% of the voters from 2020 sat out this election. And it was Dems.
Like in 2016, there were too many who believed she had it in the bag, because who would vote for Trump, right?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 6, 2024 9:15 PM |
Yes but those who did vote, white woman, Hispanics, black men, Gen Z white men all surprised us by voting for Trump.

From George Clooney’s op-ed taking down Joe Biden to the left claiming Taylor Swift has the power to influence the election were just absolute nonsense.

Celebrities are overexposed, played out, and completely boring. Why can't they just do their jobs and STFU? Nobody cares about them beyond watching TV and movies. And I think trotting out all those black celebs to lecture other blacks finished Kamala off.

[quote]Celebrities are overexposed, played out, and completely boring. Why can't they just do their jobs and STFU? Nobody cares about them beyond watching TV and movie.
This.
In this age of social media, celebs are way overexposed than ever before.
And except for the die-hard fans, most people don't care about a celeb's personal life nor political opinions.
They just want to be entertained by them via movies/music or it ruins the illusion otherwise.

We saw that when America rejected old scolds Hillary and Elizabeth Warren.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | November 7, 2024 3:27 PM |
Kamala was good at not scolding but the Obamas went in big time.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | November 7, 2024 3:28 PM |
Celebrity just doesn't have the importance it used to. They just don't seem as special anymore now that social media is around. Feeling the need to broadcast everything they think and do has taken away their mystery and allure and left them overexposed. That and their need to be "relatable."
Also, with the Internet and reality TV, any random nobody can get famous nowadays. You don't even need any talent or creativity. All you have to do is know how to sell yourself.
And the #MeToo movement, Diddy parties, etc., show that the morals of many celebrities are in the gutter anyway. Why should people care what they think when they could very well have those kinds of skeletons in their closet?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | November 7, 2024 3:28 PM |
Maybe Beyonce - a very wealthy woman who paid another woman to have a baby for her - isn’t the best person to lecture working class people on what to do with their votes?
by Anonymous | reply 73 | November 7, 2024 3:31 PM |
[Quote] We saw that when America rejected old scolds Hillary and Elizabeth Warren.
So I guess only women can be scolds. So they should just shut up, smile and nod. Like good MAGA wives should.
When Trump says half of Americans are bad people and enemies of the state for not being republicans, I guess that’s not scolding.
Speaking of annoying old women ….

by Anonymous | reply 75 | November 7, 2024 3:37 PM |
Their fans (especially the Swifties) almost make you want Trump to win. They're so obnoxious. Even before her endorsement of Kamala, they kept acting like Taylor Swift singlehandedly decided who wins and who loses. They kept telling her and telling her "endorse Kamala. We need you!" Then once it happened, they acted like it was over for Trump. It must be a bitter pill to swallow knowing that their precious idol doesn't have the power they think she does.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | November 7, 2024 3:44 PM |
I bet alot of the Swifties didn't even bother to vote. They think posting on social media is enough.

by Anonymous | reply 78 | November 7, 2024 3:50 PM |
Taylor Swift is a legend in her own mind. Her fans listened to her and then voted for Trump. It's way past time for celebs to get out of politics. Ya know, since their struggles include hiring a fleet of nannies to take care of their kids and calling the paps to take photos of them. Gag.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | November 7, 2024 3:54 PM |
Kamala is half black and a woman-middle America won’t allow such persons as president. I’m around a long time. Some of the nicest most generous -most thoughtful-open minded people do not want blacks in power.

There's a story in the Daily Mail (I know) today that America Ferrera and her husband are so upset that they're moving to London and are looking at expensive schools to send their children. Obviously the local comp won't be up to scratch.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | November 7, 2024 4:51 PM |
I love this fact from the Guardian:
[quote] A poll from YouGov shortly after Swift’s endorsement found that only 8% of voters would be “somewhat” or “much more” likely to vote for Harris – with a surprising 20% saying the endorsement actually made them less likely to vote for her.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | November 7, 2024 5:24 PM |
Voters saw Kamala hanging out with rich celebrities while Donald Trump was cosplaying as a McDonald's employee and a garbage man. This gave off the illusion that he was the more relatable candidate to the general public. Next election (if we are lucky enough to have one) I think they should focus less on celebrity endorsements and more on everyday citizens.
