It broke my dad's heart and he loved her until the day he died. So devastating and his dad doesn't know or want to handle it. It's scary. Schizophrenic people are terribly unpredictable. Having a personality disorder and schizophrenia on top of addiction is tough bc it can roadblock recovery bc the person doesn’t have enough insight into themselves to do the basic work of recovery — while involves some simple understanding of how addiction works, how to manage cravings and impulses, etc

By the way I have met people with long-term meth addictions and all the mental illness that comes with it who have recovered. Even met heavy PCP users who developed schizophrenia and were able to recover.

I am not absolving Farrah of responsibility but given Ryan's track record of violent and abusive behavior it's worth pointing out that an abuser's MO is to present a charming seductive façade in the initial phases of a romantic relationship. Ryan was still good looking when he and Farrah first got together, so it's understandable why she would fall for him.
