Redmond O'Neal, the only child of Farrah and Ryan, has been declared 'mentally unfit' and confined to an L.A. treatment facility after standing trial for attempted murder. He is diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, antisocial personality disorder, anxiety and depression. He's also battling a crippling meth addiction. The O'Neal family curse continues.
Farrah Fawcett's son will need assistance for the rest of his life.

Most of the above will have been either induced or worsened by the "crippling meth addiction". Whatever other drugs he's been taking since middle school will not have helped, but the meth will prevent any recovery. Thats why he got to stay in hospital ( that and the trying to kill people thing)

[quote]“Redmond has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and antisocial personality disorder,” says the first insider, who adds the longtime addict has made little progress in his time at Patton State Hospital.
He probably has a misdiagnosis or two, which is typical of someone with his criminal and drug histories, and is overmedicated on account of his violent antisocial tendencies.
State-run psych facilities for both minors and adults are filled with Redmonds and future Redmonds. Though his privileged background is starkly different in some ways than what you normally find there, one piece of the puzzle fits perfectly: his father was an extremely violent drug addict and alcoholic who was known to abuse and neglect his family.

That's such bullshit R38. You sound like a blind fan who's making excuses for a grown woman. Farrah left her husband for Ryan. You don't spend two decades with someone that you have nothing in common with. She didn't even give birth to Redmond until she was nearly forty years old. She knew exactly what she was doing at that age, and she knew the father of her son very well. They clearly had plenty in common. You can't solely blame Ryan for Redmond when Farrah is the mother and had her own issues with addiction when she was alive. You really cant blame either now that they are both dead and Redmond is nearly forty years old now.

It's obvious they both failed as parents, but Ryan's history was undeniably worse. He's up there with Wallace Beery on the list of legendary Hollywood dirtbags. Of his relationship with Fawcett, Tatum said, "He took over her life, her career, but there was a price. He had a terrible temper and was very violent. He beat her up."
A couple years later, he tried to pin Fawcett's death on his children (primarily Tatum, but he mentioned the others as well) by saying she was healthy until she had to deal with their drama. This didn't stop him from accidentally hitting on Tatum at Farrah's funeral, which he later joked about to Vanity Fair in the same interview where he copped to "savagery" toward Fawcett.

Because they’re distancing from revealing that they’re actually describing themselves, R67.
Meth does NOT treat nor alleviate symptoms of schizophrenia. It destroys the central nervous system, including the physical brain of any long term user, just for starters. It worsens the condition (schizophrenia), & can disable a person to the point that they cannot even hold down a job, live alone/independently for long periods of time, or sustain long term relationships with friends or partners that do not involve mutual abuse of controlled substances.
Meth eventually destroys everything it touches, much like Ryan allegedly did as well.

You know NOTHING about C-PTSD, trauma, domestic violence, mental illness, or addiction. If you did, you’d not write the nonsense you do. You’re also apparently void of all empathy & compassion.
Why don’t you know about any of this, R61? Are you an actual perfect human being who has never once faced challenges? Are you a person who has never loved & cared for others who have struggled with mental illness? Or are you a fucking robot who has no clue how it feels to FEEL?

Ryan left 30 million when he died. I think a good chunk of that amount is going for Redmond’s care. His other children can take care of themselves. I feel bad for him.

Not true. You would have to already have the gene for schizophrenia and trauma triggering, the data is iffy at best. Drug taking most likely triggered it. You could say that one could start taking drugs due to trauma which then led to schizophrenia.

He honestly sounds like Britney who I believe has schizophrenia, antisocial behaviors and long-term meth use. It manifests different in men and women. Men commit more violent crimes, are more destructive and dangerous in the community. Mentally ill female addicts abuse drugs to try to appear “normal” and get boyfriends / male attention (hence , how many female addicts work in porn and prostitution) obviously however this does not work and they are just as unstable and unsuccessful as the men. Having a personality disorder and schizophrenia on top of addiction is tough bc it can roadblock recovery bc the person doesn’t have enough insight into themselves to do the basic work of recovery — while involves some simple understanding of how addiction works, how to manage cravings and impulses, etc

That's true R71, and yet Farrah still chose to have her own child with Ryan after witnessing this history. You can't make a definitive judgment about who was "worse" when it comes to Redmond because they both raised him equally. She's still fully responsible for her part. Once again, Farrah left her husband Lee Majors to be with his best friend Ryan O'Neal. Lee famously asked Ryan to accompany Farrah to dinner, and Ryan took the opportunity to pounce. However, he couldn't have done it without Farrah's participation. Lee moved out, and then Ryan moved in. She was smart enough not to marry him, but Farrah still got to see Ryan's shitty parenting up close before Redmond was conceived. Tatum and Griffin were drug addicted minors and completely out of control, and yet Farrah still made the choice to father her own child with O'Neal. That's on her. She was a shitty mother period. She only had one child, and look how he turned out. I don't want to hear shit about "trauma bonds" when your out of control son is on trial for attempted murder. That could have been prevented. It's only people like you who are in denial about the real Farrah Fawcett. All you need to do is look at her son for evidence.

R90 where have you been? Lee was dickscovered by none other than Rock Hudson.

Practically the whole football team was discovered by Rock. One of the most interesting stories in gay history.

WTF is up with Ryan’s ears in those yahoo photos? Looks like he has excess skin flaps there from old face lifts.

Thanks Whitney. Don't mind if I do.

[quote]r124 He used to have great legs
Is that from the movie PARTNERS, where he’s a cop posing as gay?
I guess it’s like a merry, lighthearted CRUISING.
I wonder just how awful it is…

It's not good - Cruising in the style of The Gay Deceivers - but Ryan's ass looks terrific.

I am not absolving Farrah of responsibility but given Ryan's track record of violent and abusive behavior it's worth pointing out that an abuser's MO is to present a charming seductive façade in the initial phases of a romantic relationship. Ryan was still good looking when he and Farrah first got together, so it's understandable why she would fall for him. It's also the case that some women are excited by the prospect of a 'bad boy' or a guy with a louche reputation. Ryan probably launched a charm offensive that made Farrah think he's not so bad.
Once that charming false front disappears, the person being abused is already invested and tries to 'fix' the abusive partner so that things can return to what they assume is the 'real' person who presented at the outset of the relationship, but of course that person never existed at all. The real person is the abusive fucked-up one.

Farrah Fawcett had options that allowed her to do just about whatever she wanted to.
The reason she stayed with O’Neal and other abusive men is because she eroticized the beatings.
That she actively chose that over removing her child from a violent home is shocking.

Easier said: Farrah was doormat

She eroticized the beatings?

On that “reality show” she did with Ryan was hideous. She was high and drunk. They would bicker about who each was ever cheating with. VERY DRUNK PEOPLE BEHAVIOUR.

R128 is projecting.
I don't see Farrah being erotic anything. Pretty and great hair in her prime, but totally sexless.

Are you a doctor, r83?
If not, I suggest you do a simple Google search. Lots of credible sources cite the connection.
Otherwise, please provide evidence to support your assertion.
