OP, are you even aware just how many A-list stars – including Oscar winners – got their start in far humbler spots? Julianne Moore was on "As the World Turns" for several years. (Seriously.) And while I know many DLers have encyclopedic knowledge of soaps, I've never seen Morgan Freeman mentioned, despite being on THREE of them! (One was "Ryan's Hope," and I forget the other two.)

Also, one of Brad Pitt's earliest roles was a brief himbo arc as Charlie Wade's high school bf on "Dallas" circa 1986.

Bullshit, and I'll quote the article itself about it: "Guadagnino eventually made stars of Chalamet and Armie Hammer, rather than casting established names. ('Well, it worked out,' Craig says of that film with a chuckle.) " Even openly queer actors largely oppose the idea of them having a "monopoly" on gay roles, in part because it often results in typecasting.
