Oh, dear

She is quite crazy. Margueritte Perrin by way of Susan Sullivan’s character on Dharma & Greg.

She's awful. She did nothing to protect him as a child from the pedophile priest, and still to this day only wants to talk about Christianity to him, without having any sensitivity or understanding that Religion is not something he wants in his life, for obvious reasons.

She appears to have the all the intelligence and compassion of a warm bowl of rice pudding.

One can only understand Armie Hammer once one realizes how crazy his family is.

Armie was not supposed to be named Armand. He was named Alexander. Dru Hammer’s father came to the hospital and said that he had had a vision and God told him that the child must be named Armand (all the Hammer descendants were given Armand as a middle name.) So Alexander was renamed Armand and he was given a new middle name, Douglas. Which just happens to be Dru Hammer’s father’s name.

Douglas Mobley wanted the child to have his name, but instead of just asking his daughter to name him Douglas, he dragged God into it.

This reminds me of the line from one of Woody Allen’s movies where he calls his mother The Castrating Zionist.

Oh boy. I started this today. It’s utterly fascinating.

The mother is a textbook obsessive compulsive personality (think Bree on Desperate Housewives, but replace the uptight New England Episcopalianisn with Great Plains Pentecostalism.) She is very domineering - Armie appears somewhat terrified of her - but at the same time she is extremely well-spoken, charismatic and it’s obvious she was a great beauty in her youth. So you can begin to see how is personality might have been shaped by this mother who seemed nurturing but also has a kind of aloof, almost autistic coldness.

She looks like a dominatrix.
