They’re sick of being treated like shit by Hollywood.
Hallmark actors to Hollywood- “ WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED!”

I watch Hallmark Christmas movies.
This thread has me wondering what Scorsese could do with a boilerplate, er, excuse me, I mean a "Generative Artificial Intelligence" Hallmark script.

I actually enjoy Hallmark movies. They’re brain dead escapism with pretty white people who fall in love. It’s always some city exec or saleswoman being sent to a VERY CHARMING small town or a farm in the middle of nowhere and meeting some ridiculously gorgeous man and his family and falling in love. And I enjoy them. Shoot me.

There's some hotties in those Hallmark movies

Ignore them, there's a fresh bus of younger prettier ones pulling up every day. They are hungry and eager to work (cheap).

We hate shit that talks. Talking shit does not belong in our business.

If Scorsese directed one of those you just know that there would be anal by the second act. He's edgy like that...

Team Hallmark actors!
There’s more joy and warmth in one of those than in a dozen 3-plus-hour Scorsese dirges.
His recent output has become tantamount to the emperor’s new clothes.

I know we've discussed this a million times, but so what.
What r2 said although I do think the varied ethnicities and races are interesting. Just this morning the couple consisted of a Black woman and a White guy.
But any combination is subordinate to the soothing sameness of the plots, sets, costumes, tropes.
They're like visual McDonald's. I don't eat there very often but when I want that particular flavor, I know where to get it.
Lifetime Channel Christmas movies have an obviously much smaller budget.

The costume and prop people must have an easy time on these. Everything’s very generic, isn’t it?

There is a fantastic podcast, Business Wars (Wondery), that did a series on the battle of the holiday movies: Christmas Movie Wars. It was about the history of Hallmark vs. Lifetime vying for viewership. The episodes are from 2021.

Lifetime is always changing its demographic. It now caters to black women more.
Hallmark has always catered to a VERY (almost exclusively) white audience. There was a time the leads were always only white and they would make a friend black. NOW they sometimes have diverse casts but even then it is usually a black woman with white man. You see that pairing a lot in films, tv and ads but in reality that pairing is the smallest demographic in the USA.
They now include gays too but that’s why a lot of people ditched them for GAC.

Fuck then

It may be artificial but at least it doesn’t rape your senses like a lot of other shit out there.

I don't care what anyone says. This one is a gem that I have watched every year since it came out in 2015. It's literally the perfect Christmas movie.
