Daily Beast just broke the story. Mainstream news is going to be very cautious with this. Tapes need to be verified. Wolff is not a great source.

Lots of possibilities with Wolff. Something could have gone down with the book he wrote, and this may have been time for maximum impact to exact revenge. He could have tried to sell the story, legit or not, and failed. He could just be dumb about this shit. Who knows?

Aside from the risk that the tape is fake, there is also the issue of whether Epstein was lying. I can understand why the media was cautious.

I suppose it may help that it now seems Trump is going down in flames even without this story.

I’m pretty sure this is the story that was “shopped around” and doubted. Wolff says he offered the tapes to media and found no takers so he’s releasing them tomorrow on a podcast. The MSM are clearly very reluctant to cover this. Anyone who covers this will face a full barrage of Trump/GOP/MAGA attacks. Since the source of the tapes is not respected, they are not prepared to undergo that firestorm. The real question for me is why the Daily Beast ran with it. Agreed, however, this timing could be ideal in reaching the small undecided/persuadable voter electorate.
